"Lithium based arsenic" ?!

Dumbest technobabbly ever! Would it really have been too much trouble to just make up a word? Or did the writer just think it was more plausible to claim that it's possible to synthesize one element from another by mixing stuff in a beaker.

Anyway, loved the review. Always nice to see a new CS video.

:zombie: lithium and arsenic... sounds like one deadly battery...

Holy crap, classic Snob! Kind of weird to see Brad so young, beard-less and being snarky in a basement. :eyebrow:

Regarding the movie, yeah, ANYTHING can be a killer in the film world. Although, I would pay to see Platy-pussies... XD

0:43- I know how you feel, Brad. I had to throw-up my night snack after first seeing the sight of that.

1:12- when I was like in the 1st grade, I remember seeing most of a movie about killer giant bunnies. I wish I was making this up, but I'm honestly not.

I don't find "The Brady Bunch" bad. But, I do find "Malcom in the Middle" bad.

5:00- Dear lord. Hey, music composer, when you're doing music for a "nature goes bizerke" movie, this is not the music the audience wants to hear.

6:19- Thanks, movie. I really needed to see that. The next time I eat at a resturaunt, I'll be afraid of what I'm eating, because of that scene.

I'm guessing that they never use salt in the movie and just using explosions to kill the slugs because of three things:
1. The writer and director never saw a slug in their lives.
2. They never did any research on them.
3. They both graduated from the University of Imadumbass.

8:32- This is one of the reasons why I love watching your show, Brad.

I remember seeing this review quite a while ago. Seeing it again reminds me of how silly some of this stuff was.

I loved your whole thing with the salt when they were deciding how to get rid of the slugs. It really made me smile. Although, I really can't think of many movies of this nature that didn't use some over-the-top, ridiculously unneccesary way to deal with the problem. Ah well.

Nice to see this review on the site Brad. You changed a good bit since those days, huh? =)

Honestly, it reminded me of this one MST3K movie, "The Horror of Party Beach." The monsters were some type of sea creatures that were vulnerable to Sodium. But instead of feeding them Hormel Chili and Lays Potato Chips, they have to find an out-of-town chemical company to get the sodium.

Slugs killing people? The only way this could get more absurd is if somebody gets impaled on a paper airplane.

If I remember correctly, the same exact thing in this movie about salt/sodium happened in the MST movie "Horror at Party Beach".

Ah yes, using electricity to kill monstrous threats in movies. Hey, it worked in Return of the Living Dead 2, right?

Oh, and high explosives, too! "Them slugs blowed up real good!"
• angel85

how the hell did that guy's head explode? hypothetically, even IF you ate a slug that was pregnant, you would be more likely to vomit up slug babies, not have them pop out of your head! However, slugs contain a type of parasitic worm that can cross the blood brain barrier and eat their way into your brain, but then you simply die of seizures, not exploding eyes!

That's because this is a fucking stupid horror movie! It's not meant to make sense!
• Kooshmeister

Here and in the novel the slugs do carry a type of fatal brain parasite but I can't think of one with that sort of reaction.

Great review, I was in stitches over "SALT." I guess logic is hard to come by in horror movies.

I have never heard of Slugs, book or movie, but I do know one author that wrote about killer snails, TWICE no less: Patricia Highsmith. In fact, I was first expecting an adaptation of her short story, The Snail-Watcher (I know slugs and snails are different, but the premise of death by slugs just reminded me so much of the short story). And if you want giant killer snails: The Quest for the Black Claveringi, from the same book of short stories by Highsmith: Eleven. And yes, the snails win both times.

At a certain point, you have to comsidder whether or not a problem is really worth an extreme solution. Considdering that a few hundred people's homes and everything they own is the very thing you're trying to PROTECT, I'd say it'd be easier for everyone to just move somewhere else. That way they're Slug free AND they've got all their stuff.

That or fucking salt.
• HoraceTheFatKid

That's wired. There's no audio when it shows the film clips so I'm missing half the jokes. Is anybody else having this problem?
• Film Brain
avatar
Its possible that the movie's audio is mono and its coming out of the side you're missing. so you can't hear it.

I can understand them not using salt. Why spread salt in the sewer when you can blow shit up?
• Doresh

Another proof that movie monsters are only vulnerable to huge ass explosions!

But why the hell did they felt the need to inform us that there's a much more simpler, less destructive way of killing them, only to completely ignore it Oo ?

I'm getting an error message.
