Brad,
While I don't always agree with your reviews, I agreed with everything you said about Parker. Statham is likable, and the film opens really well. But it fell apart in the second act (although Statham vs. hitman was a good fight scene). I think it's because you want to get all your players introduced in the first act, and then trying to get Lopez into play in the second act starts the movie all over again, and halts the forward momentum.
And I was one of the few who saw Oogieloves. I know your pain.
Best,
Stoic

Why does no one ever mention Death Race when talking about Jason Statham? I liked Death Race...is it bad that I liked Death Race? XD It's probably better than this Parker crap.
As for Hansel and Grettel, the trailers made it look pretty uninteresting and just that generic fantasy movie with some probably bad acting and effects and obvious plot points/twists. Glad to hear it was a pretty good movie. I might have to see it.

01.27.2013 - 03:01 | thorondragonjust liten to the title of the movie. hansel and grettle, witch hunters...... i am pretty sure that the one achievement you have over a withc is because she was as blind as a bat and dumb as a post.
it is basically a van helsing rip off. the difference being that, while a sub par movie, helsing was fighting ACTUAL demons. witches are not demons in myth. sure, one can argue a very powerful witch is powerful becuase of losing humanity. but here is one problem i see with that as well. as witches primary known abilities are causing mischeif, which i think translates in using their magic to subtlety cause things to happen, such as, i don't know, causing gunpowder to ignite, crossbow strings to snap, and bullets to explode inside of guns that destroy them and potentionally killing the user. in other words, totally and completely disabling said withc hunters.

01.27.2013 - 03:32 | Somni McNitpickSo...why do the people from the Hansel and Gretel (I'm so sorry I forgot their names) think that Bullock and what'sherbutt's character in The Heat are opposites? Did they get a different trailer than me? Because the only difference between the two that I could see is that one is fat and one is skinny...Also my theater didn't show the Olympus has fallen trailer, I'm gonna have to find a way to see that because I think it looks pretty cool.

Seems like you got the worse of the two this time, Brad. I've read and heard all these negative things about Oogieloves, is it even shitty for a little kid's movie? It's too bad about the Jason Statham movie though. I was hoping some good action flicks would be making a return, aside from the Expendables series.
Hansel anf Gretel: Witch Hunters sounds like an interesting concept. I'm assuming it's by the same people as Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. I think the problem is that people take this premise either too seriously or not seriously enough. While it's supposed to be a little silly, it's not a downright comedy. It's a supernatural action movie, but really, even with the title, you're not supposed to take it totally seriously.
