You gotta admit that command center stage set was pretty sweet at least.
I have fond nostalgia of this movie because I was a Rangers kid for the longest time. I mean sure, it's a flaming piece of crap now, but I was amazed by this movie when I was 6.

I too have always loved the "Oh, the things I've missed!" bit, but no references to Ivan Ooze being Belloq? He unleashed the wrath of God!
I also always loved the back and forth with the construction workers and the.... bullies. "Hey, Dave! Come have a look at this!" "Go on, Dave."

God bless my parents for putting up with this shit so I could retain some idea of happiness as a child.
Even as a little kid though, that fight between the Rangers and Ooze was bull. It was as anticlimactic as the fight between Shredder and Splinter in the Ninja Turtles movie. Or at least comes close. The fights in the show were better, which is NOT a sentence I say often.

You were born early enough to miss the boat; I was a babe of 1990 (the later part even, October) and this shit fell right into my lap before I knew any better. Ooooh the obsession I had. But, my parents were supportive and happy to cater to my first childhood fandom. Probably has to do with them being geeks themselves. And, they have a few fun stories to look back on about the swarming hordes of parents flooding Toys-R-Us at Christmas time fighting to get to the new Power Rangers toys first.

When I look back on it, they picked a bizzare spectrum for the Rangers. Red, blue, yellow... OK, the basic colors, good deal. Pink 'cos she's a girl, and... black? Oh right, because he's black (that was my five-year-old logic before I learned how racist I was). Then they meet a kick-ass new ranger whose green, but you feel like he's better than the "normal rangers" 'cos he has a mantle and a flute that summons a fuckin' plesiosaur Zord. Then he gets upgraded one day from green to white. Now, this all made sense to me as a small child but now that I look back on it...
Red, blue, yellow: gotcha. Pink and black... I guess I can give you pink, but black? The most evil and disheartening of colors? Why is the green ranger a later addition, why isn't green one of the beginning colors? Black should be a special color like white. And then we get a green ranger, and he becomes white! So now we have the three primaries, pink, white, and black. WHY NO GREEN?! I can understand passing up purple and orange, but that rainbow where they turn into colored energy and teleport just looks wrong.

As a kid who had actually seen the original sentai show Saban ripped off to make power ranger, I can still remember my excitement when I saw the teaser trailers for the Power Rangers TV show. I can also remember how horrified I was that the shows I saw that had some cool drama and sweet action sequences were reduced to... "No Zordon, not Teenagers!" t(^_^) Heres to Saban for making all our childhoods just a little bit worse.

Sometime in the future, there should be another NC instalment that covers all the Saban-made Clones of MMPR that have resulted from said show. (I.e. "Masked Rider", "VR Troopers" & ESPECIALLY "Big Bad Beetleborgs" with that freaky Jay Leno/Liberace-esque phantom guy...you remember, admit it!)
And you didn't mention Jason! Also, from what I heard they were changed because they were unhappy with pay. But I guess that wouldn't make for a funny review.

I'm still hugely a fan of Power Rangers. The whole spandexy epileptic cheesyness is a big play into the fandom. The fact that it's so terrible is what makes it entertaining... though I think it may be Super Sentai's fault that I even still watch it. Oh God, they were the american Pokemon befor Pokemon was there. Seriously, Sadly as a kid, I dodn't know the channel for the ninja turtles, and for some twisted reason, never bothered to look, so I had this. I don't know what's with Japanese animation and kids. Hell, I was young enough to be fucking sucked in to the not so popular Yu Gay Oh phase. The characters there moved as much as the ones from Phoenix Wright. Haven't you noticed all the kids' suits colors are matched by race? Come on, the Asian is yellow, the black guy was black, the irish guy is green, Oh crap, he mentioned it. Okay, I admit it, I was..no, still am a Power Rangers Fan. I watched them mostly instead of Transformers or GI Joe or others that the NC used to watch. But, I digress... The point is, I actually LIKED the original movie, but maybe that was because I was a die-hard fan of the series. But I can see what you meant with the flaws...nort just with the movie but with the series as well. Is it me or are the mistakes more noticeable in the movie then in the series? Anyway, I enjoyed your review NC of the Power Rangers as a whole, though it was mostly focused on the movie. Then again, if it wasn't we would not have those great moments like when you over-dramatically was happy with the "re-birth" of Zordon and the whole "Frog/Kissing is my power" thing. And of course they hit him in the groin! And of course a kid can operate a fire hose on a crane! I think his dad is a fire fighter or something.And of course he can...no, wait, how the heck did he operate that monorail??? Anyway, I think people need to know that the kid did not operate the crane himself, he had help from Bulk and Skull. BUT THAT STILL DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!!! Since when were Bulk and Skull able to operate machinery??? In any case, it may be sappy and the CGI is crap, but I like this movie better then the sequel (Power Rangers Turbo: The Movie) because it still had the dumb humour that I loved growing up with.

Dude, I just saw the movie, and I thought it was awesome. The only part of your review I agree with is the fact that the kid can operate heavy machinery. I hated this show. Me brother loved it. Me brother really, REALLY wanted to see the movie, and me mum took him... unfortunately me mum wouldn't let me stay alone. I wished I could fall asleep during the film, but ohh boy, everytime something 'COOL!' happened me brother would yell and keep me awake. Uck. Uck uck uck. I loved this video though.
Oh, and the girl who played the Yellow ranger in the TV show was the only reason I didn't puke whenever me brother forced me to watch the show with him, she actually was a decent actress (Probably the only GOOD part of Crow 2, too) and she looked pretty good, she did some modeling too where she looked great. She died in 2001 though.

Everyone should know this already, but sadly the asian girl died(Thuy "Trini" Trang was killed in a car accident in 2001)
Power Rangers rocked my childhood and they still do.(1993-1995 episodes) Walter Jones,Austin St. John and Thuy Trang all left the show in late 1994 due to hiarchy in thier contract with Saban( This is what Johnny Bosch told me at Shiokazecon back in 2006.)Johnny Bosch,Steve Cardenas and Karen Ashely replaced them. Awesome video though, still funny as hell.

Masterwarrior? I have no problem seeing a half naked, utalented, female actor as a masterwarrior, but at least give her some sort of weapon..she is armed with a noisy stick for God's sake.
