@Dimon: the Nostalgia Critic videos are really for satirical purposes only. And by any human standards, it's just funnier to 'bash' a movie than to praise it into heaven .

I'm still a sucker for Ninja Turtles and Three Ninjas and stuff like that too, mainly for nostalgic reasons. But by any cinematic standards, those movies suck ass.

you know, amidst all of the bad action sequences, this movie still managed to leave out all of the most important elements of street fighter, mainly "shin SHORYUKEN!!!!" and "are you ok? BUSTAAA WOLF!!!"

Just like most game based movies from games that I liked, this also seemed good one at that time. Also I preferd then Jan Claude Van Dam before all other martial artist actors at that time. I'm just gonna get this off my chest I loved your video and I actually thought the Mortal Kombat movie was good(however, not the God-awful sequal with James Remar in for Christopher Lambert). I think what was most depressing about this film is that they screw up Ken's appearance. Now I've seen a million kids who cosplayed as Ken screw it up(not that it's a big deal or anything), but when a costume designer for a movie screws up?! I mean, this is no cosplay it's for a movie. You got the red gi, now get a guy rith long blonde hair. While your at it get one that can act and do a better shuryuken(I must've spellt that wrong) Guile's appearance was handled poorly. It was bad enough we had a Belgian playing an American, but what was worse was the torture chamber guy in the Honda whipping scene actually looked like Guile. Was Steve E. De Souza trying to tease us?

I don't even like Street Fighter. Those games are just one thing all the time; shooting beams, and give ridicuolus punches with weird effects. Sorry, but those games aren't my style. So yeah, I neither like this movie because of that. I'm more of a Tekken/Soul Calibur/Virtua Fighter/Dead Or Alive/Super Smash Brothers kind of fighter.

The movie's been in development hell for years. No one's willing to pick it up. Plans were to make it a sequel of the first movie (ignoring the second), make it a prequel, make it a remake, and/or make it a movie about Sub-Zero before MK1 (sorta like the MK: Mythologies game).

I think the MK movie was actually pretty good. N.C. had a point with Sonya going from tough bitch to helpless princess, but still. It was a pretty good movie as far as game-to-movie adaptations go. MK2 blew, however. Oh so hard.

That makes no sense. If someone's making a film and promoting it as the same style as the video game (Guile, Ken, etc as characters), then logic is that it's being promoted towards Street Fighter fans. While I see what you're saying, that if it were just another bad movie, it'd be ok (it does resemble 90% of other Van Damme movies).

However, that'd be like saying the Spider-Man movie was "alright" if you're not a Spider-Man fan. Obviously the movie wasn't promoted for "non-fans." This is why a lot of people are so angered at the Street Fighter movie. So many things were changed, it was sickening.

Seriously. Jean-Claude is a great martial artist, and it is not his fault this movie is terrible. It's not even close to being the worst video game movie. Remember Alone in the Dark? Resident Evil? Having said that, the four syllables as to why this movie sucks aren't Jean-Claude Van Damme, they are Street Fighter Film. It because of the differences between game and movie.

I saw this "look-back" review U made and laughed.
Thought to myself that this movie is really bad as any other videogame movie outthere.
I was wrong.

Downloaded this movie and actually liked it.
I'm a 20 year old athlet living in Sweden (Scandanavia).

I do not actually have english and english culture close to heart so my personal opinion about this movie may differ because of were I'm from.

Thumbs up:
Never boring.
Interesting dialog (consider modern hollywood movies standards).
Quite nice story build up.
Raul Julia is in it.

Thumbs down:
Street fighter the movie has nearly not enough fighting to call itself by that title but then again, that is what the games for ^^.
Fucked up camera work in the actuall fighting.

That's all I have to say.
Going to download Mortal Combat and see what that brings.

first.

I know people will hit me (verbally) if I admit this, but when I first watched this movie I thought it was quite good. But over the years I go from good to mildly okay...
Being the only live action Street Fighter movie, it was pretty decent...back then.
But now it just gets disappointing.
I have lost respect for this movie, even though it had an okay plot, the acting was decent and everything but I think the main problem with this movie was that the actors never took it seriously enough. Yes, it is an action/comedy movie, but despite this there are never any moments where we can sit back and reflect because there are too many action sequences throughout the film. But what would Street Fighter be without the Fighting?
I TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT, THAT'S WHAT!
And on that note, I say I still like this movie somewhat but it was overdue for a remake long ago...

You know, most game-based movies don't usually stop with sequals until they get REALLY bad! Mortal Kombat got a 24% on RT, but Annihilation got a 5%. But Street Fighter got 27%, and they just stopped right there. Good choice!
