Definitely one of my favourites. I could not stop laughing throughout the whole video and I absolutely loved the Hamlet reference.

But the moment that really killed me was the face you make when imitating the girl.

I haven't seen the film in years, but I remember my reaction to it being almost exactly like yours. Terrific review.

Wow, where to begin...

1. I absolutely loved this movie as a kid, so it is sooooo painful to see how much of a piece of dogshit it is, especially how bad the songs are, except that money song with Tim Curry, that song kicks ass still just for how ironic it is.

2. Your facial expressions of pure terror and the Indiana Jones part made me laugh SO HARD that I thought I was going to bust a gut! And the whole review as a whole was pure genius smilies/cheesy.gif smilies/cheesy.gif smilies/cheesy.gif

3. I've been on here awhile, but I never made an account, but those two things combined made me make one, and trust me, I've been waiting for this review for a LONG time.

My God, man, your expressions are just... paramount brilliance here. It's almost a poetic tribute to the original Tom and Jerry, how silence and expression can be so much more hilarious than those cumbersome mouthwords.

Oh, how I loved this movie! Well.... oh, how I watched this movie! I suppose there's a difference, but given the wisdom of the average eight-year-old I'm not so sure. But seriously, I think this one made me laugh harder than any of your others.

written by Thetooncritic , September 01, 2008
This movie didn't have a very good premise to start with. Slapstick has never really worked in a feature length movie. In order to make this work they had to put something new. Understood, but new characters that are completly unnescerary and incredibly annoying songs don't work! But still an excellent review. I applaud your great effort.

That part near the end where you mimicked the girl's expressions was priceless.

When you said that Tom and Jerry never talk in the cartoons, I thought of that exact same part that you show in the clip at the end. The one where Tom says "Don't you believe it." Isn't that from the episode where Tom goes to heaven but can't get in? Or is that a different episode?

That was, without a doubt, your best review since Bebe's Kids.

The Yorick speech dragged on a bit, though. I wasn't especially fond of your introduction to that girl either -- but then again, how can anyone make that little twerp entertaining or funny?

What I really liked about this review was that I was suffering right along with you, but with jokes to help the shit go down. The sequence after Tom and Jerry first talked ("...I think I just became a monkey's uncle!") was hilarious and I was laughing my ass off through The Mindfuck.

I think you're a bit too close to using the AVGN's trademark nonsense cursing, but it was absolutely warranted here.

I remember seeing this a while ago, and even as a kid, I knew that it was the worst kind of pigshit. Thank you, NC, for making this review so I would never have to remember it again.

in the GI Joe movie that's coming out next year, they were originally going to have Snake Eyes talk. that would be an even worse desecration than Tom & Jerry.

The Dr Applecheeks scene would have him in jail as a child molester in about five seconds. Let's see. Unattractive single aged eccentric and that's how he walks up to an ICE CREAM CART. Ding-dong. "Hi, I'm Doctor Applecheeks, I just moved in down the street, and according to the terms of my probation..."

If this ain't a "tour de force" then I don't know what is. smilies/grin.gif

I only had a "novelization" of this movie from when I was a kid but I have a feeling I'm more than glad that I didn't have to share your experience of watching this cinematic dung (even my kid self thought the clips of the movie looked stupid). smilies/tongue.gif

I'm honestly surprised you didn't turn the gun on yourself in this movie but that would mean no more Nostalgia Critic insanity. All joking aside, your killing rampages had me in stitches (I'm honestly surprised no one's had to come and ask me if everything was alright). Then you got to the mind-fuck set to the strains of "Flagpole Sitta" and I was pretty much done for.

Just when I keep thinking you've raised the bar, you keep going beyond that one step beyond. smilies/cheesy.gif

Do you want my completely honest opinion? I remember this movie quite well and I must say, looking back, I really do agree with you!

"Tom & Jerry: The Movie" was awful in so many ways. I'd love to explain exactly how I feel it deserves to be proclaimed absolute cods-wallop but I could go on all night. This was the best Nostalgia Critic review ever, thank merciful lord someone took notice of all the bad things with this movie and held nothing back!

And in all honesty, as someone who watches this as a kid and someone who's now a cartoonist, I must say that in the movie I only really liked the cat gang (minus the singing) and that fat dog purely for their character designs. That's it. It's really shallow where the only 6, 7 characters that stick in your mind (despite Tom and Jerry of course, if only they were given a *purpose*, despite having the movie named after them) only stick in your mind just for character designs and not for the characters themselves.

*shudders* Dear me, I can't bear to imagine the amount of hours I wasted in my childhood trying to see any goodness in this movie... xP

That was excellent! smilies/grin.gif

I remember watching it when I was young and I was like "They're friends?! Why?!?". This movie has nothing to do with the actual cartoons!

Tom and Jerry were the shizz back then..until this movie came out.

I was wondering why there was a voice actor for Jerry since he never says anything until I found out that they could talk.

Finally...

Damn fucking bravo NC. It's about fucking time that someone came out and reviewed this movie for the god-awful shit that it is.

I first saw this movie in 2nd grade in the auditorium and i could not believe my ears when they talked...I don't care, i still watch the old school cartoons to this day. My favorite episode is when Jerry drinks that wierd super-juice that makes him really fast. The facial expression on Tom's face when he's reviewing the tape puts me to tears laughing to this very day

This made me cry and then I got pissed off. I never knew about this film at all, but I quite fondly remember the classic Tom & Jerry cartoons.

Hollywood needs to burn. I'll bring the kerosine.

I haven't laughed that loud in a long time, thank you NC, this is easily one of your greatest yet.
I rented this when i was 5 with high hopes, when my mom asked how it was I said "it wasn't Tom and jerry"

how right I was

When I saw this movie. . .
written by CaCtUs2003 , September 01, 2008
When I saw this movie when I was little, I only remembered the house being destroyed. Gladly, I never purchased this film, though. I only got it from my library's video section.

Excellent review. I have been waiting for someone to tear this apart for a long time. I watched this movie when I was younger as well, but I kind of knew how crappy it was.

This movie DEFINED the term "Raping my childhood." The moment that Tom & Jerry speak is where you can feel the pain through your anus. The only weak point of this review was the little time spent on Rip Taylor's role in this movie.

Rip. Taylor. Was in. This. Movie. How could you just pass it up?

Also, to those who might be wondering: Mr. Lickboot wasn't voiced by Tim Curry. Rather, it was Tony Jay, a British actor who sounds like Tim Curry in a deeper, refined voice. The other difference is that Tony Jay is currently dead. So much for bringing back Chairface Chippendale sometime in the future.

This is one of my favorite NC's!

Oddly though, in this episode, you sounded strangely similar to the AVGN...

That movie makes me wonder whether its creators were prone to having psychotic episodes during the production process.

Tony Jay was in this mess? As Mr. Lickboot? ... *Sigh.* Stupid great voice actors doing horrible movies to pay their bills.

Home Run

Another fantastic review. I never saw the movie (or even knew it existed), so I was also shocked to hear them speak.

By the way, I took the "Protect the Cube" image from your first one, and I did the same with that shocked expression. Good images to remember.

I feel so sorry for you Guy with the glasses... But you should apologize for exposing me to that crap. I mean seriously, I knew that anything Tom and Jerry past the 60's was bad, but how the hell could Warner Brothers completely demolish such a beloved franchise! Maybe it was payback for trying to compete with Bugs Bunny... But it still doesn't explain Space Jam then!

Harvey Danger "Flagpole Sitta"

I must say I loved that segment.

I LOVED Tom & Jerry as a kid, and remember looking forward to the movie. While I didn't hate it (remember, this was around the time I considered 3 Ninjas to be a cinematic epic), I was disappointed that it wasn't like the cartoons at all.
