06.22.2011 - 01:16 | tjspeirsWoot, Rollo T stand up. Great job up there Chris. The stuff was great, but... man the crowd sucks at that place. I completely agree with ApatheticOne. They just... seem so quiet and disinterested. Maybe it's different to see them, maybe they're all interested and keeping eye contact with you and stuff, but judging purely on laughs, it seemed like they were only half paying attention.
If I could point out one thing to work on, it'd be your body language. You didn't look bored or apathetic, but having your hand in your pocket and standing mostly still was a little low-energy. It seemed like using more hand-motions and maybe walking around the stage a little more would have raised the energy levels more and gotten the crowd a little more into it. The joke about diving into the trashcan, for example; actually bending over as if you were in the trash can and demonstrating the way you woulda pounded those sausages (like a boss) woulda been funny to see and would drive the joke home a bit more.
Still though, great job man. Keep it up.

06.22.2011 - 09:00 | kingrat2314There's not much you can do if some people don't find something funny. Comedy is subjective, I wouldn't expect the audience to laugh just because the comedy is free.

One of the main problems you have is that you don't really use your hands to express yourself that much. Take into consideration that you have one of your hands in your pocket for a majority of the showtime.
Take George Carlin, for example. One of the things that he was really well known for (other than for the acerbic wit and lingual juggling that puts some of the greatest classical singers and Broadway singers to shame), is his ability to emote through his hands. He could make the fact that someone is stroking they're own egos off, while giving the raspberry, into something that even affects the most sophisticated into puerile bacchanalia. Don't be afraid to emote through your hands or greater body language. Look at Jon Pinette as a good reference for "fat guys who can do more than just shuffle and do jokes".
Also, did Adam have a cold? If not, you might need to get someone else to record the footage. His breathing was overtaking the recording on parts, and it was a little irritating.
Lastly, ask the guys at open mic to get a cordless one. It's pretty cheap, now, and would save a lot of trouble for certain acts.

Yeah, but as someone with experience doing AV stuff, wireless mics are even less reliable than wired mics. If that mic were wireless the solution wouldn't have been as easy as just pushing the cord back in; you'd probably have to turn off the mic, turn it back on, possibly re-synch the mic to the receiver, and possibly check the receiver's connection to the sound board. And then there's the fact that those things eat batteries...
All in all, the club should just replace the mic cord. They are interchangeable, and only cost like $10-15.

06.22.2011 - 12:20 | FredTHAreDI thought it was pretty funny, but man, tough crowd. Or maybe just small? Never saw them, but it seemed quiet.
My only suggestion was already mentioned by a few others. Your body language is really disengaging, but hey, I'd probably be doing my set from the fetal position. =D

Too many fat jokes.I know you have a lot of experince dealing with being overweight, but when in your bit about trying to steal stale hotdogs from your workplace it seems way more pathetic than it does funny. I think a lot of it's delivery though. But alas, I can't correct your intonation and use of pauses via a text-based comment.

hey more of these would be appreciated, this was better than last time, which was funny but one joke where people actually laughed the most. this time it was most of the time you were up there. sucks there was a couple awkward moments with that silence and i could hear someone breathing funny like an ehhh sound right behind the camera which was kinda distracting.
