Hrmmm.. I'm not sure if I like your style all that much, from a purely subjective standpoint, but I think that's maybe just your tone. You're much too quiet/slow speaking, but that's ok.
The humor was pretty great, although the laugh track grated my nerves a little..

I couldn't wach for very long. Got bored on the voice. If he would talk faster this might be more interesting. Editing was great (at least the 3 first minutes). Writing wasn't bad but to be honest, i didn't like it. I'd give him another chance on getting a good video done with a more interesting voice before totally saying that he shouldn't be brought on board.

I guess this is a bit mean, but I really didn't enjoy that much. All of the comments he made just mocked what we were watching; a drunk baby could go "Ooh, this is stupid." What separates the NC (and the chick, for that matter) from this guy - the NC makes intelligent, opinionated observations that makes you think about the movie.
And he talks so slow and low I thought there was something wrong with the video.
Please take a good look at his style before adding a NC knockoff that isn't funny.

the review is kind of funny eventhough I tend to think your voice is not energic enough, especially when you're commenting the film footages... and...25 minutes ??? isn't it a bit long ? I mean think about it, it's the lengh of a simpsons episode ! I'm way too hyperactive to stand in place more than 10 for a film review...
maybe if it was more fast paced I would have accepted the 25 minutes length

This felt like it dragged on too long. This also felt very slow-paced and lots of energy was missing from you as a reviewer. For it was long between the laughs and the jokes were few.

I too think it lacks energy and to some extent also timing. I also get the sense that a LOT of the content could have been cut out for a better pacing. You know.. "kill your darlings."
If you get a spot I'll probably watch a video or two every now and then, but unless I see some progress I'll give up on them after a while.

While this movie deserves to be skewered and roasted in a parking lot for all to see, I'm not sure where I stand with this review. I think I saw this one on the forums a while back. I'm not really into the monotone delivery and things just seem stiff. If you want to bring something to the table, you need to deliver jokes in different tones and such.
I'm not a fan of the wheelchair falling off the cliff joke. Granted that's the movie's fault more than anything. I just didn't care for the focus of it all. As for the rest of the review? You make good comments but they could be delivered a little better.
Lengthwise, it is a little on the long side. Try to shave off some minutes and that might help.

Why You Slow Talking, Overweight "Dante" from "Clerks" look-alike Bastard! I wanted the Nostalgia Critic to review this movie (At least he would get through it in 10-15 minutes, 25 is just overkill)!
Having said that, It was otherwise a very funny review (Like I say, Aliens, Parapaligics & McDonalds: The Winning Team!). Interesting sidenote about that scene where the kid rolls off a cliff, It seems Actor Paul Rudd has turned that clip into a running gag whenever he's being interviewed on "Late Night with Conan O'Brien". He supposedly sets up a clip of whatever he's plugging, and the clip they roll is that very scene...Every Single Time He's On.
I don't know why that's worth mentioning, but When in Rome...Oh, and just kidding about the "Bastard" stuff. I'm sure you're gonna do just fine 'round here.

In all honesty, I really like his voice. It's a different kind of delivery that I've never heard before, and allows him to say jokes in a unique tone that I find really funny, as well as create a very entertaining and bizarre character. I would say it's just a wee bit too long for me, but I shouldn't talk, my MK2 review is shaping up to be pretty long as well. I liked it when he first posted it and I still like it now. I'm hoping people will enjoy it enough to ask for more

Oh my gosh, that was histerical. What a crummy movie, glad I've never even heard of this "Mac and me" before. Geeze, throwing wheelchair bound kids off of clifts? What MADNESS is this? I found this really entertaining, though I found the last couple minutes when it was re-enacted as a horror movie to be a little slow...but the rest of it was very good! I like his tone, I think it separates him from the rest of us and also presents more of a character than just a guy bitching about a movie. But I'm inclined to agree with others, brevity is the soul of wit so the more you can cut out sardonically explaining what's going on and get to the content that's actually you making some point about the atrocity we're seeing, the better. Trimming the fat is always essential to any editor. I don't proclaim to be a master at it, but I always try to keep it in mind. I feel like you could be a good addition if you focus more on your writing and cut out all the MST3k style riffing. I think with this format that sort of thing is best used sparingly.

I agree with Doug on this one I actually sat through the entire movie and I could not help but laugh, A LOT But I also agree with Lindsay and many more of you that he could use more work on his writing and "trim the fat" as Lindsay said a lot of points seemed drawn out unnecessarily. But on of the people I agree most with is Benzaie, This was way too long... and I don't think people are going to sit there for the full twenty five min... which is sad because there's some great stuff at the end of it.

Great humor and jokes. I've never seen the movie myself, but after seeing this review, I kinda want to now. I liked the review all in all, but having said that, I have a problem with his voice. The tone is good. Nothing wrong with the low-key tone. It's...just...that...the...pacing...got...a...little...slow... The length of the review is also a bit too long to keep my attention. 10-15 minutes is usually long enough. Also, the way he kept his voice down actually made me wonder if he still lives at home, or if he's got a girlfriend/kid in the other room. Nobody whispers "CUT CUT CUT!"
The bottom line is that I'd really like to see him as an addition to the site, as he was funny and the review was very well put together, but he needs to work on the pacing.

I don't tend to complain about free content I find on the internet. I'm usually just happy it's available!
But I have a lot of respect for, and get huge enjoyment out of TGWTG.com, and since the tagline on this video is "Did you like him?" I felt the need to go make an account to give an honest answer, which is "No I did not".
Firstly, you don't come across as a very charismatic reviewer, you sound like you're bored with what you're talking about (which in turn bores us), and your pitch or inflections don't seem to change at all between your normal speech, exasperated speech or trying to crack a joke.
Secondly, you're not funny. At least in my opinion. The laugh track gag was downright abused and you stopping periodically to laugh yourself was pointless and frankly annoying.
You seemed to have the right idea on where to snark the movie. The mom thinking her WHEELCHAIR-BOUND son put things on the ceiling was a good point to pick up on, and could have been funny, but was let down by your execution.
Lastly, this video was far too long. There is no way I would have stuck with it for 24 minutes had I come across it on Youtube. But because it was on TGWTG.com, I had expectations it would be worth the time, and frankly it wasn't.
I wish you the best of luck in your online future, but I would rather you not become a feature on this site.

Don't get me wrong, there's a spark of brilliance here, but I just can't take him seriously or laugh at his jokes with that line delivery. It's slow, it's grating and it saps the funny right out of his jokes.
I hope you will all forgive me for being blunt, it sounds like he's mentally retarded. I don't mean to be offensive, and that's the problem. Laughing at his line delivery or his jokes would make me feel like I'm laughing at some extended "retard" joke. I'm sure that wasn't the intention, but that's just the feeling I get and it makes me very uncomfortable.
Bottom line: No. In my humble opinion, he's not ready to join the TGWTG ranks.

I've been going over this message over and over again in my head, trying to find a way to express my opinion without sounding like a school yard bully, namely because all I really have to say about it is negative. The delivery was slow paced, meandering, aimless, that was only perked up from time to time with some above average editing. The ending "joke" was way too drawn out, and it felt like you just posted scenes from the movie. As of now, I'm going to have to give a strong NO on this guy being let on the site.

I do agree that his voice is kind of low-key, but I think that just helps deliver his brand of humor, which uses dry, witty quips and observations about the movie, sorta letting the movie make fun of itself. I guess this is just his style of reviewing movies, otherwise he'd be loud, violent, and shouting expletives at the movie, and we already have NC for that.
He should try and sound a little more lively and cut his video size down about 5 minutes, but otherwise I give him a Thumbs Up. I think he'll only get better as time passes on.

Much potential, but he needs a little more energy in the videos, he can talk the same way of course, but maybe a bit faster and just... a bit more energetic.

NC first video wasn't as quite as interjection than what it is now. He just needs to find his style.
but anyways. I think was hilarious. He is exactly what people need in between NC productions.

I got to say, I liked this review. I actually enjoyed how Phelous maintained the mellow, even tone most of the time. It beats the pants off of having to check my volume to avoid ear blowout from a particularly rant-inducing sequence of film (NC I'm looking at you!). I also have to say that the review was funny, and necessary. I had to endure this movie many more times than I would have liked. Stinking best friend's little sister....anyway, good job!

This was Phelous's first movie review and it was pretty good. For those you are bitching about his monotone voice that is how he always talks and I don't see the problem with it. Sure it's long but you should see his review for I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer is shorter by 10 minutes and that is an awesome review.

I've got to echo the general sentiment... the video was absolutely hilarious, but the host's voice just sounds completely disinterested, like he's not having any fun making the video.

I'm sorry, but its not only because of his monotone voice that I'm heartily begging for the admins to not take him on. You have Spoony, Benzai, and Suede, whose jokes are fluid and actually entertaining. Phelous is trying much too hard with a script that is eons below what this site has set its bar at, and acting that is over-bearing at times, unendurable at others. His laughing takes are more irritating than amusing, and none of his in-review jokes hit due both to his voice and the way he holds himself on camera (halfway between Spoony's relaxation and Suede's posture). He is simply not funny, and I feel that the That Guy With the Glasses team has made themselves out to be better than this.

Besides, you have The Dudette in addition to the other comedy staff, and Bennett the Sage on for the more professional side. This guy just doesn't fit in anywhere here.

Sorry but i felt like it was a sacrifice to see this whole thing through. The pace and tone is just awful and it frankly doesn't fit in with the rest of the "TGWTG" cast. Great production value and special Fx but I don't think its the right fit.

You had some funny comments and I actually like how you were basically running commentary over the parts of the movie, it was a nice little change from the standard "show clip, make funny comment" format. Sure it's not the first time the idea has been implemented, but it has promise.
I do have to agree with the people saying the voice is a little monotone, too slow, and actually a little too quiet at times. Some energy, perhaps. On that note, maybe this is me--and I'm sure no one will get the reference, even--but am I the only one that watches the video and sees/hears a less enthusiastic, less perky version of Michael Swaim from Cracked.com? They even look kinda similar in the face. Seriously, take away this guy's goatee and look at Swaim...

The Video had a Lotta Filler and shoulda been Shorter, Altho I enjoyed a good 8 minutez of it....

I actually like the measured, methodical pacing of his voice - it's definitely a different style compared to the other reviewers you have here. This particular review, however, is far too long to really be enjoyable - it has its moments, and I did watch the whole thing, but the last third was more out of respect for the work put into it than for really caring to see it through.
Looking at his Blip.tv channel, he does have one other review, one which clocks in at a much more sane fifteen and a half minutes. I watched that one today, and it's a fair sight better. If his future reviews were more like that one, I would certainly support his inclusion as a regular contributor.
As it is, with only two reviews upon which to judge him - one hit and one miss - I'm undecided. I would love to see a Trial #2, but if it has a laugh-track, I'm kicking a puppy...
