Status of the Site 6/5/09:
T-Shirts:
We have sent the first 6 designs to the print shop, if things go according to
plan look for them to be on sale in early to mid-July. People who donated $100
or more during our donation drive, will be getting emails the minute we have
them in our hands, so we can finally send these out to you!Â
Site Issues:
-The article sorting is a bit messed up, and I hope to have that fixed soon.Â
This happened due to a security update.
-Forum Autoban. People PLEASE, PLEASE read the directions when you create
an account. The only way you get autobanned now, is if you don't log into
the main site first. Logging into the main site automatically fixes the
problem!
-Not a Member of Users:Â This error seemed to be caused from an update, and
I think it may have messed up 10 accounts or so. I will be in contact with
you if you messaged me about this in the next day or two. Pretty much the
problem is that the forum account exists, but a sync error caused your main
account to be deleted.Â
-As of 3:30 AM CST, most of our accounts on Blip are currently experiencing
issues. Hopefully it's fixed soon.
Expansion:
-A nightlife site will be launching soon, that will have programming that
caters to bars, clubs, pool halls, sports and more. More information will
be available when it launches.
-After the bar site is launched look for the much delayed dedicated video gaming
site Blistered Thumbs to follow suit. I'm shooting for a late July launch.Â
Blistered Thumbs will clear up a lot of the congestion right now on TGWTG.
-After Blistered Thumbs look for a comics and anime theme site to follow.
-After that it is a crap shoot on what the order of the new channels will be.
-If you think you're good, post your stuff in the forums video area, or in the
Blogs. I look at them periodically, and it's really the easiest way for
you to get noticed, as my email box is getting rather cluttered.
Our First Convention Appearance:
While this isn't 100% yet, it's getting close. Some TGWTG staff may be
at our own booth at Wizard World Chicago, which runs from August 6th - 9th, in
Rosemont which is a bit North of Chicago. I'll do another update
confirming if we are going soon, as well as tell you what TGWTG members will be
there!

Our Talent First Release:
Due to some issues, ill advised actions, and other various events, Channel
Awesome has decided to let Internet personality ThatAussieGuy, also known as
Daniel Rizzo go. We are upset that it had to come to this, but we wish Dan
nothing but the best with his future endeavors. We will not be responding
to any details, nor confirming or denying anything, so please don't ask; we
thank you all in advance.

Video Updates:
With the current issue going on with Blip, I will have to update the
site mid-day today. Look for a new Nostalgia Chick video, a video about
some things Doug/Gonzo are selling on ebay, and a video from AngryJoe.Â
Late Friday/Early Saturday, look for videos from Benzaie, a new Theme Lyrics
video from Doug, and some E3 videos from Game Heroes.

I know you won't be answering questions, but I'll ask one just the same: what the bloody hell?
Oh well.. he didn't update his videos very frequently, but he seems to be the first talent to be canned by the site, unless that whole Suede thing was akin to telling your kids a family dog's gone to live on a farm.
Was a shame that his videos were always some of the better videos on the site though.
I'll survive.. I don't come here for Aussie, but it's a real shame.

Suede did leave because of the mission for his church, but when Suede is done with the mission in one and a half years or so he will be coming back. We'll most likely be filming a Searching for Suede documentary in New Zealand to reintroduce him to the new visitors.

That sucks, because as we all know, Aussie has a gigantic contributor to the site, who constantly had new videos, practically every day!
But seriously, it sucks to see Dan leave, and best of luck in all his future endeavors.

Meh well, doesn't bother me to be honest, I've always felt abit lukewarm towards his videos.
And oooh towards the new videos, here's hoping Blip stops being emo. Seriously, it's just being a bitch today on almost all sites I've visited that uses it.

I always enjoyed Aussie's videos and I'm sad to see him go. I wish him the best at whatever he plans on doing in the future.
The Suede documentary sounds like a fun idea. Although I never watched his videos, as I'm not an anime fan, I'll definitely be looking forward to that since he was an integral part of the site and it'll make me more inclined to check out his videos.
It's nice to be updated on issues like these and to know that issues are being dealt with. Thanks for letting us know of what's going on behind the scenes.

It sucks about Aussie. Well, what's done is done. There's not much else anyone can say, really. His vids were good and I wish him the best in his endeavors. Sad news, indeed. But, we must move upward and onward.
As for the rest, we'll, we're all looking forward to what's coming up. Cheers to the future and whatever channels crop up.

Sad to hear on one of the shittiest week for me starting with having a cold, I had to dig a hole ( don't wanna talk), news about the plane crash, mister David Carradine passing away, now Riz leaving ( not a big fan but it's ugly to leave someone you just saw in the Brawl video weeks ago), blip giving crap. well at least by the news you are giving good thing will come for TGWTG so I'm wishing for a prosperous summer to the team.

So still no DBZ abridged episode 10 part 2 tommorow either. Thats a bit of a downer espevially when they said last saturday it would be up within the week. Oh well, it'll be good when it comes.
Sad to hear about aussie, but if the Spooning with Spoony commentary is anthing to go by, I think its obvious he caused some tension during the brawl shooting. Does this mean the end of TA aswell, I thought Aussie worked on that?

The whole Dan leaving thing made me laugh, did it all start over having lunch with Spoony? and what "future endeavors" ?
it's not as if he's a celebrity or anything, and it's doubtful his videos could hold their own website anyway (like he posted any..) .He'll probably go work in retail or something. :D

The fact that he didnt post often is no reason to be an asshole. Fair enough that you didnt like his vids, its just the retail comment... just why would you say that? I loved aussies vids, and im sad to see him go (although im sure there must be a good reason why he was let go), i dont mind if you disagree, but there was absolutly no need to bring his personal life into it. And then you proceed to diss 70% of the rest of the site too!

Gee, don't hold back or anything... and if you think that only 30 % are comedic talents, then I'd like to see your comedic genius that you seem to claim that you know all about.
If you think that I'm being some sort of justifier then you are wrong, I just don't like people who laugh at other people's misfortune.
With that said, I'm curious to see the new sites that will be up soon. :D

Unfortunately, I was always kinda middle of the road about Aussie. Just never my thing, I guess. But more importantly, I am curious about what's going to go from here. The Blistered Thumbs/TGWTG split and this Nightlife site, the Comics/Anime sites, it seems to be a bit odd, but I guess as long as there is still some congruent thought and discussion between the central peoples, keeping everything organized, it works.
I just know that I liked having all my favorites in one spot. I understand the need, but... you understand.
That said, I'm curious what you'll do about Bennett the Sage. He does Fanfic Theatre, which is assuredly not video game related. Will he split the work half here, half BT? Or will that go on the Comic Site? What about Linkara if he does decide to go into video games, will he remain primarily with comic book games, and stay there? Hmm.
We'll see, folks. My only constructive suggestion, I suppose, is that I think any cross over material should stay here on TGWTG, that way when ever you decide, huzzah! Time to get to chicago to beat everyone up again! We don't have to traverse the netz. - Edit - God, this was longer than I planned.

Does Blistered Thumbs get roughly the same traffic as TGWTG? The best part i thought about being apart of the site itself was global coverage. You come for one or two talents and when your so inclined: check out someone new.
And the third split to Comics and Anime?
My main question here is, is there going to be a global feed for updates somewhere? Id like to know hats happening across all three sites in one convenient location, you know?
Also Dan, sorry to hear about the split.

First, I'm sad to see Aussie go. I never really watched his stuff, but like others said its never a happy occasion to let go of a person.
Second, I'm guessing the creating of spinoff websites is to help the server load on every website and videos too. It will also help with categorizing videos. I'm also going to guess that the categoy of the video determines what site it will be on. Bennet's video game reviews will be on blistered thumbs and his other reviews would be on the appropriate website. Everything would still be through Channel Awesome so its not like its a big deal.
Finally, I hope I'll be able to go to that convention. I don't live far from Rosemont so distance isn't a problem. Hopefully I can pick up some t-shirts.
