Status of the Site 5/4/09

Holy Shit! It's a new Status of the Site update! Lots to be covered, so sit back and be prepared for a fairly long read.
Where's the Nostalgia Critic?
Red Sonja will be up this Tuesday (5/5/09), and all other
Nostalgia Critics will be pushed back a week, due to the 'Surprise.' The
Surprise videos will start debuting within the next 2 weeks, but will not affect
any future Nostalgia Critic release dates. Could the surprise video be a
new Melvin Sketch? How about a video of Doug and his new computer, or how
about a video of all of us on vacation? Only we know the correct answer,
but it will be awesome. Oh, it's none of the previously mentioned items.
The Dreaded Forum Autoban:
Anyone who has registered on the site in the past few
weeks has experienced this, and I still haven't corrected or found out why our
Dual Login bridge is decided to do this. No, you didn't do anything wrong,
so until I figure out how to have this fixed automatically, I'll have to take
the tedious fix route. If you get the you are banned from the forums
message after registering please Email me through the Site Stuff/Contact menu.
Include your site username, and I'll remove the ban for you. Sorry for any
issues and inconveniences that this has caused.I think I may have just fixed the problem. Anyone who was banned try logging into the forums now. If it still says that you are banned, then please email me!
Talent Pickup:
If you want to be picked up, or at least considered,
please post your videos or articles in the Blog or Forum area. It's the
easiest way for me to notice you, and our 2 newest additions; Y Ruler of Time
and JewWario were found via the forums. Please don't email me with your
ideas; show your work, or link me to your work. We will be holding some talent
pickup competitions similar to the Nostalgia Chick search in the next few
months.
The Arcade:
Wow, it's been a bit since I last updated this area.
I plan on adding some new games over the course of the week, so be on the
lookout.
Commenting Etiquette:
I've been pretty lax lately on banning people who post
flame and 'You suX0r' types of comments, but the ban hammer will be brought down
on people who continue to post like morons in the comment area. If you are
going to criticize someone, you better have constructive criticism. Any
'you should die' or 'OMG you R teh Suxs' type of comments will automatically
cause you to lose your comment posting abilities, and potentially result in you
being permanently banned from the site. Direct attacks on featured members
and/or other site users will also result in the above consequences.
Consider this a warning.
Video Game Talent Stockpile:
Well we plan to launch a few new sites in the coming
months, each of which are dedicated to a specific topic. Blistered Thumbs
will be our video gaming channel, and if all goes well, it'll be up and running
by late June/early July. After Blistered Thumbs is launched all the video
gaming talent will be moved to that site, and a stockpile of another genre of
producers will begin. We have a lot planned for the coming months/years,
and Year 2 of this company is going to have a lot of exciting shows and ideas
launched, as well as a lot of new talent coming on board. If you thought
our first year was fun, well you haven't seen nothing yet!
TGWTG Talent in the Wild?
Hopefully this summer will bring some of our talents
first official Public Appearance(s) in a convention or two. Nothing is set
in stone yet, but some ...may be at Wizard World Chicago this summer. Once
again, nothing is confirmed yet.
T-Shirt Sales:
Within the next 2-3 weeks we should finally have the
T-Shirts going to print. The people who donated $100 or more as well as
the artists who designed the winning shirts will be the first to get the shirts.
We hope to have the T-Shirts on sale a few weeks after that happens.
Possible DVDs:
There is a chance that DVDs for Ask ThatGuy, Bum Reviews,
and Sketches/Specials could be for sale by Summer's end, although nothing is
100%; and to answer a common question. No we unfortunately can't make DVDs
of Nostalgia Critic reviews, although there are like 2 or 3 NC reviews that may
make it onto another DVD.
Street Fighter IV Contest Winners:
Due to the chaos that we at TGWTG went through in April,
I still have yet to send out the prizes to the 3 winners of the Ben vs Tom
Street Fighter contest. I hope to email the 3 winners in the next 2 days
to confirm your shipping or email address. Sorry for the delay!
Live Transmission Awesome:
Will happen on May 16th. Special guests and more to
be announced soon!

Ah, the surprise is... that you bought a restaurant in which you'll serve only Jelly Beans! And you're going to offer a live video feed of the backs of your customers heads as they enter the building, and while that's happening the song I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers loops in the background. All the time.
Then again... What's coming gotta be something even more awesomerer....rer. Can't wait to see what it is!

I was just wondering if the videogame related content will be displayed here on this site, once it get's its own domain? Or will we be able to subscribe to an specific rss feed to that site instead?

Maybe if a NC DVD was just an added bonus when buying any of the OTHER DVDs, yous could get away with them (since you wouldn't actually be SELLING DVDs with the films' footage in them). OR, when buying one of the others, you'd get a password used for downloading an .ISO file with the image of an NC DVD on it, so you could burn your own.

Under the "User Menu" tab at the top of the screen, there's an item labeled "Arcade". It only appears for registered users, which you obviously already are or else you wouldn't be able to comment.
And it's been there for a while now. Check it out, there's actually quite a bit of games to pass the time.

Nice to see such a long update this time. I realize that this site is only becoming exponentionally busy, so occasional insights are greatly appreciated.
Funny to see that the Melvin sketch is becoming quite a joke on this site. It's become that "black sheep" sketch that's the butt of everyone's jokes now. Well deserved since it really was awful!
Good job TGWTG team! Your un-dying pursuit of entertainment is appreciated.
