Hey All

Revver is most likely down for the count. I've begun the tedious task of moving all the remaining Revver videos to Blip. Last night I moved all the Bum Reviews (minus the Xoomba Ad one) over, so they are all working now. The only missing Nostalgia Critics are: HP Book Launch, Top 11 Scariest Moments, Transformers, AVGN Rant 1 &2. The only missing sketches are: The Quit Job and Jack ones. The remaining Specials and Ask ThatGuys (Episodes 1,1.5,5,22-30 are online) will be up by Sunday night at the latest. Also the early works of Suede,Aussie,Ben and Spoony will be transferred as well and will also be done by Sunday.

We'll hopefully have the Blip issues fixed for the 2000 or so of you that are still having issues with them. Just give me some time. Also Revver owes us over $4000....

Allow me to say this...
"FUUUUUUUUUUCK!"

I believe revver is down for the count because they weren't paying people for the videos, but I'm glad you're fixing it and making everything better and better!

(For those with BLIP.tv problems, i recommend checking your RAM or pausing the video for a few seconds before playing it, your patience will be rewarded)

Ouch. Revver owes you four grand? Do you think you guys'll have to take legal action if they don't deliver what they promised?

Revverval?
written by Vyers , November 14, 2008
Thanks for the effort of moving everything so we could still watch it.

Yu-Gi-Oh abridged was having Revver problems too, and a link to a news article about it.

I'm sorry for the loss of your $4k, it doesn't look like you're the only people who aren't getting paid though.

Too bad, because I'm still angered at Blip for having too high quality, thus not allowing me smooth playback on a 1 Mb connection. Having to pause videos and waiting until they're at least 1/3 loaded up is annoying.
...but with Revver having a date with the reaper, and YouTube having their finger on the delete button there's not much that can be done. Only wish that Blip had a lower quality version of their vids.

Best of luck moving the videos over. That's a lot of uploading.

Sucks to hear about Revver going down and REALLY sucks they owe you guys money. I'd be willing to wager you guys won't see a dime smilies/sad.gif Is there any word from them on coming payments? Or is a bankruptcy proceeding the next place you expect to hear from them?

depending on the contract you guys had with revver, i think you are perfectly entitled to take legal action. $4k, that's quite a bit of money.

Hey, I actually get to use some of the stuff I learned in Secured Transactions class at law school smilies/cheesy.gif

Warning: the following is legal technobabble.

The problem will be if Revver declares bankruptcy. Then all heck breaks loose and the Courts are left sorting out assets, figuring out who's a secured perfected creditor, who has priority out of those creditors, and then who gets what after everything's left over...basically, it's a real pain in the butt. Even if TGWTG.com sues now and Revver then declares bankruptcy...they'll be in the same position. This IS also dependent on the laws of state Revver is located in unless IL's long arm statutes can cover Revver.com...assuming Revver's even run in the States (I don't know). If not...then international law gets involved, and everything sucks more smilies/tongue.gif (Legal term...no really...).

Basically...if Revver files for bankruptcy, there's likely nothing anyone owed money could do but wait to see if there's anything left over for them after the fire-sale of all of Revver's assets. Even with the contracts, Revver probably has creditors who have priority over the content providers, and they likely don't have enough assets to pay them off.

This is all assuming they go out of business completely...if they manage to stay around and this is just a hiccup in the system...then I guess our friends here will just have to wait until they can scrape up some of the money owed smilies/sad.gif

This is also all assuming I have a clue about what I'm talking about. I did study this stuff for the Ohio bar...a entire year ago smilies/tongue.gif I've stuck with criminal law since, so I could be mistaken.

I also don't know their contract, but in a Bankruptcy proceeding...they hardly mean anything if you don't have priority. TGWTG.com could then turn around and sue the owners personally...but good luck collecting from them. Of course, if Revver is owned by a corporation or other business entity rather than just a private person...we're back into "everything sucks more" land. Then it becomes not worth bothering with for $4k...seriously, piercing the corporate vail to get at the actual owners of the business entity rather than just the assets of the business is, in many states, REALLY hard to do.

Update on the Revver situation...
written by Cferra , November 15, 2008
I got an update on the revver situation here:

http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/11/01/is-revver-on-the-fritz/

There's a rumor that they're having trouble meeting payments. There's more on that site. Will see if I can find out anything else.

Hmm...Well, Revver is gone, no doubt. I had to use it to watch these videos, as the Blip ones weren't working out too well. However, I seemed to have found a way to deal with them.

I merely just went to Blip.tv and found the videos on there. They loaded fine, they ran fine, everything. There seems to be less going on, on that page, so I'm assuming that's why. Maybe you could post direct link to the video on Blip, seeing as there is not one with the embedded video it's self, it seems.

I doubt Revver will last much longer. It will probably be bankruptcy and then they won't start up again.

Darnit. I liked Revver because the videos loaded a million times faster than on Blip.

Blip needs to make its servers faster or something. Sometimes my computer crashes when trying to load videos from that site.
