Just a heads up, but the author of this manga is a woman who uses a masculine pen name.

Naruto: I forgot about Tsunade's ass. I was too busy just going "wut" after hearing that Orochimaru became "good"

Bleach: Well both the fake and real Zangetsu combined (Zangetsu Prime) did say that they were Ichigo back when Ichigo obtained the Final Getsuga Tensho.

Both are Zangetsu TO Ichigo. Even though Inner Hollow is "True Zangetsu", Ichigo believes that Old Man deserves to be just as much as "Zangetsu" as the true one.

I still believe that Uryu Ishida was brainwashed by the Vanderich Quincies and Juha Bach.

Juha Bach has the Solid Snake ass! XD
  • PandaSennin  - Well...
Except we're still not sure if he has become good. Like always he's not telling us everything.

So, Toriko has the violence-porn and the food-porn, if it got the porn-porn than it would just become the Game of Thrones. (:
Dude... having made that joke, it occurred to me, Song of Ice and Fire manga. Does one exist. If not, why the hell not? I'd read that in a heartbeat. Who wouldn't?

I see Chris and Nik getting rich and starting there own manga website to sponsor series's that got canceled before there time. Which if there current track record is anything to go on would be a lot.

Hey Nik and Chris, I don't usually comment your WMR videos and often I listen you guys talk about manga, I would like to say that it's cool that you bring in Krissy (ThatChickWithTheGoggles) .

So far (as I'm typing this), I'm the one who remembers Goggles who used to be part of TGWTG and enjoyed her videos. I'm aware of her art work and they're pretty and such. Thanks for bringing her in guys, it was nice while it lasted in this video :)

Oh, Krissy, dear... I remember the days when I (a girl) used to comfort myself with the conviction that Dengeki Daisy was done by a guy. I was like "Gosh, this is so sweet and romantic and cheezy - but it was done by a dude, so I guess it's not like I need to feel embarrassed." But no, Motomi Kyousuke is actually a lady. This manga is still my favorite to this day.

I rather enjoy Teru as a heroine. She kinda grew on me. I also think the story gets sort of deep for a Shoujo manga. They really plunge into the topic of "Sin" and "Responsibility". I like the way that's handled.

Something I never understood though was why Teru never talks about her parents. The loss of her brother is such a vital point in the story - she visits his grave, dreams about him, talks about him, keeps photos of him... But parents? Screw that stuff! When were those ever essential to a person's life and identity?! Just something I noticed.

At the beginning of the Podcast I kept hearing "Terror" instead of Teru. But your Takeda impression was spot on. And Krissy has a lovely voice.

I enjoyed this collaboration and I would just love to hear more of this.
  • sharkjack  - I really liked this chapter of bleach
One of the key traits of early Ichigo was his 'fuck the system' attitude. He didn't care that shinigami were supposed to protect everyone, he just protected those dear to him and those he actually saw being in danger. Similarly, he didn't care about the rules of Soul Society saying Rukia had to die. He didn't care about setting an example or shit like that. He cared about Rukia and wanted to help her. Here it's the same thing. He doesn't care that Technically Zangetsu Ossan isn't a Zanpaktou and that he and Shiro Zangetsu aren't two halves of his power because that's the way their bonds formed. That's what's important to him. If Ichigo has anything left from his fullbring powers after what Ginjou did to him, those are probably what went into the sword from his side. Or not, who cares. Fullbring isn't exactly worth much.

On a completely unrelated sidenote, Yay for GE - Good Ending. I love how the manga I recommended now gets used to compare other manga to every once in a while. It was great when Chris mentioned it as his favorite manga of last year way back at the start of this one too.

When it comes to romance manga stopping after they get together without showing any of the actual relationship, that immediately makes me think of Kimi no iru machi, or that town where we live (/grew up I'm not sure)
because I completely expected that manga to end when the two main characters got together. It didn't. In fact it's still going. The weird thing is, I the part before they get together is complete and utter garbage. It's one big bag of misunderstandings, contrived plot twists and unlikeble characters that do the stupidest things for the stupidest reasons, but after they get together things change. Sure there's still a bunch of misunderstandings, but they're played for laughs rather than drama (almost to the level of self parody). There's some actual drama that isn't contrived. More likeble characters get introduced and assholes turn it down a few pegs. I don't really want to recommend the manga, because I'm fairly sure you'll hate at least a fair chunk of the series, but it's just interesting to see how interesting going beyond the normal end point can make a shonen romance series that before that could do nothing right but 'show pretty girls'.

Man I'm looking forward to next weeks episode on WMR. I want to hear Chris's opinion on Kujo JoToriko.
  • yoshmaster5  - "Pad out the relationship"
You know, GE Good Ending got interesting and, well, really compelling once the "will they/won't they" stuff ended. Thankfully. That's when it became my second favorite romance story in anime/manga.

This, the 'delay the actual hookup to the end' stereotype is why I don't pay attention to most shoujo. It's why I'll see a new Skip Beat chapter out and think "Oh lord, how are they stalling NOW" instead of "horray!".

Fruits Basket... Kyo admits his feelings earlier and won't act, and Tohru's the same way, and then the series shifts away from them to every other character's emotional trauma. After the sequence where Kyo 'confesses' the tone goes to all the other Sohmas instead of the Kyo/Tohru dynamic, which I actually liked.

Toriko... honestly, I wish the fight would just end. This whole extended fight sequence is going on way too long for me to really enjoy...but I'm prickly.

Also, the creepiest manga relationship that does not immediately cause the reaction of "what the christ" is in Cardcaptor Sakura. Come at me CLAMP fandom, but you will never convince me that Rika and her teacher getting engaged is right. 10-year-old and 40-year-old. NOT. RIGHT.

you guys should definitely make a recap podcast about inuyasha. the story is amazing, original and is quite serious (depressing at points even) but has a fair amount of comic relief with great humor.

ONLY watch this anime in original japanese with english subtitles. anybody who hates this series has obviously only seen the awful dubbed version.

(in fact, that is the reason why any anime should only be watched with subs.)
