Luffy gives absolutely zero fucks about who you have backing you. Just ask the tenryuubito about all the fucks he gives about who you have backing you.

I have to admit, Bleach breaking the 4th wall almost and pointing out how stupid and worthless Soul Society is was great.

As far as mangaka-san, sounds a lot like Kanojo wa Kanno Shosetsuka, and a lot of the other ecchi ones about manga artists.

Guess there isn't much "lean way" with that situation..
  • muichimotsu  - I don't think it means what you think it means
Characters in the series pointing out how worthless the Gotei 13 was and happening to coincide with the opinions of the podcasters is not even close to 4th wall breaking. Soul society as a whole includes Rukongai and the Zero Squad/Royal Guard and Royal Palace, so they'd be incriminating themselves if they did that

actually, big mam's henchman was a lion who ate a turtle zoan
  • Oddsky
He could have but then... how does that explains the fact that he can talk? He's not like Chopper who ate the human fruit so he was able to talk...
  • LivingLie
Could someone tell me the issue or the episode in which characters in the series point out the pointlessness of the soul society.

For Bleach, I actually really don't like when authors make self-referential humor to the failings of the story. It just seems like a lazy excuse "oh, I realize I dropped the ball, let me have a character point it out and that'll make everything okay". It's worse since the references never seem to go anywhere. They just seem to mention it and move on, and more often than not the author doesn't do anything to fix these issues.

Toriko is also coming out next week so I hope you guys catch it by the time the next WMR comes out. You guys joking about Toriko's ridiculous story line is often hilarious and some of my favorite parts of the WMR. And this is coming from a Toriko fan.
  • muichimotsu  - Not self referential
I seriously doubt this was intentional on Kubo's part, especially since I don't think he expects people to have a concrete defense for the Gotei 13, which is what is being specifically targeted here to begin with.

The basic gist is: the Royal Guard are pointing out the failures of their subordinates and likely juniors, but likely in a way to inspire them to get stronger or realize that they have their own jobs to do and stop trying to shoulder everything, which is especially pertinent to Ichigo as regards trying to do everything himself.

Gotei 13 has to realize that they have to work that much harder to recover from this and not let Yamamoto have died for nothing.

    Bleach:
The reason the Zero squad was like that is because Kubo has sort have written them to lean that way in the past. Aizen saw the Zero Squad as a bunch of pricks and the Spirit King as a lazy bastard. Shinji said to Ichigo that he might not want to be there when the Zero Squad was arriving last chapter because Shinji knew they were total pricks. Soul Society already didn't really like the Zero Squad to begin with. The Zero Squad was totally going to be like this.

This kind of jerkish attitude is what Soul Society had before Ichigo changed them in the Rukia Rescue Arc. Bach before Ichigo made them soft, Soul Society were a bunch of pretentious pricks. They would not hesitate to murder one of their own kind even if it were for good intention, they looked down on the subordinates underneath them and berated anyone who challenged their authority. The whole Soul Society incompetent thing did not start until this arc because that would belittle the attitudes of the Zero Squad.

Well, who else would bark out other than Soi Fon about that point? Toshiro? Unohana? Mayuri? Their attitudes don't fit that, but Soi Fon's always has.

    Fairy Tail:

Okay, why didn't the knight guy burn to death!??! His lower half should have burned to death. It's LAVA! He should have died at that point!

Loki appearing during the time Lucy was in prison would likely just make a bad situation worse. Not to mention if being that close to the gate could drain Natsu in an instant, it would probably cause problems for Loki as well. The bottom line probably is that if Lucy had just shouted for Loki in those instances, he would have appeared. Otherwise he was mostly stuck erring on the side of not showing up.

The girls powers work like Ms. Goldenweek's powers from One Piece. Different colors cause different effects. THere are different colored papers in the world so that's not a stretch either.

"All of you suck! ALL OF YOU!"

Oh man... laughed so hard. I didn't have time to pick up Mangaka-san, but it was still a great episode. Next week's recommendation also looks great. Freaking love those kind of series.

Have to admit, I think "He's not Hitler" is not a very good defense for a character. Mangaka-san essentially sounds like every other pervy comedy out there and will as such skeeve me the hell out. Rather go for Johnny Bravo, yes.

One Piece: I'm surprised at how sympathetic they've made Brownbeard. Dude did a lot of skeevy stuff before he got his ass kicked, but here he's almost a side-hero. That was probably why I enjoy Ceasar's treatment of him. Ceasar is GLEEFULLY and MEMORABLY evil. Even if Brownbeard has suffered massively for his actions, I still think he deserves what he's got for being kinda dull. Unlike the Galley-La crew though, they were really helpful, nice and awesome fighters... but to this day I cannot forget the panel where Paulie reveals that they were infiltrated by CP9 and they just make the SILLIEST JAWDROP-FACE. Because THEY thought it was all the doing of some until then never before mentioned characters that are also minors. That was dumb, but also very funny and they did act competently after that so I forgive them. But sitll, G5 marines and "competent" in the same sentence... something about that is just WRONG.

Ceasar trolling Brownbeard into attacking him and then have his own men shoot him down was a glorious dick move, BUT I think that Brownbeards men being so strangely okay with it kinda diminishes the drama of it all. But then Luffy starts punching people. And every. Every punch thrown in this chapter is the most fantastic punch. Next chapter cannot come quick enough. Also I wonder what Brownbeards men think as Ceasar reveals all his plans... if they do think, that is.

Now they've said that no two devil fruits are the same. I wonder if Smiley is an exception to this, or if Kaidou who I think is the emperor who had all the zoans, has an army where EVERY PERSON IS A UNIQUE ANIMAL. Can you imagine the artgasm that will come once we see that chapter? Because I can't. I really can't. Also Big Mamas underling was a talking lion who had eaten a turtle fruit, which means I can call him Leonardo and I don't feel bad about myself at all.

Naruto: I have to admit, I love the villains interaction. Even if it's kinda petty of them, it's still enough to give them some personality without diminishing them... although as diminishing as a Sharingan slapfight would be, I would really like to see it. It was all a dream-ending included. Also the moneyshot line is... embellishment, suffice to say.

Yeah, I had to give this chapter some rereads because it often felt like I didn't know from which angle the attacks came from. It kinda felt like the camera jumped around a lot and showed stuff from different angles that made everything really confusing. Neat action, but a little confusing.

Bleach: They actually name beard-man! Bonze, Shunsui says it. At this point I think that Orihime having the power to rewrite reality is just something Kubo has decided to ignore entirely.

At any rate, not very interesting chapter, mostly because I'm pretty sure we will come to groan at these dudes in time as well. Just let Kubo do what he does, people. Just... let it flow over you.

You understand Aito is supposed to be a ridiculous, lovable, yet still innocent pervert right?

    He's totally harmless.

Also, Sena's main thing is that she's essentially a child trying to be an adult. Think Maria from Haganai. Otosuna is more of a mature straight man, secretly in love with Aito, and just trying to get Aito to be responsible.
