Juha Bach needed Yamamoto to release his Bankai so he could steal it and Yamamoto weakened in order to do so. A Bankai can only be stolen when it is released. Now that Juha Bach has Yamamoto's Bankai, that makes Juha Bach even stronger now.

Juha Bach needed time to try and convince Aizen to join him as well. As he stated "The Zero Devision will be here soon now. We must retreat." That distraction clone Ryod Lyod made was the only way from Juha Bach to get to Aizen and try and convince him. And who knows if Juha Bach released Aizen as well.

Juha Bach thought the explosion was the Zero Squad showing up. He did say that "The Zero Squad is going to show up soon". So when the explosion happened, Juha Bach thought "Oh shit! Speak of the devil! Run! It's the Zero Squad and I wasted too much time and can't jump them anymore!"

P.S Byakuya is alive...for now that is. UNOHANA, GET OFF YOUR ASS AND SAVE HIM!!!

Man, Drifting Classroom... those poor bastards. It /baffles/ me how those kids lasted that long, I mean MY GOD. EVERYTHING wants to kill them.

"Alright, we've secured water for 3 months and the supplies should last for OH DEAR GOD GIANT MAN EATING BUG. Quick! Set up a trap while I-- THE PLAGUE?! How... I... I don't even have time to-- WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE WATER'S GONE?! What the-- FINE, just... just, I don't know, burn up a building, then the rain clouds might-- OH GOD A FLOOD?! IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DESERT?! WAIT, WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE TOOK ALL OUR FOOD?! Aliens?! GIANT DINOSAURS I THOUGHT THIS WAS THE FUTURE OH SWEET JESUS THEY ARE EATING EACH OTHER OH THE HUMANITY--"

Oh man... that was fun. So many great moments. "We need to have a surgery!" "My dad's a doctor...?" "FINE! YOU'LL DO!". Or the "My whole life has been a tragedy, and I wished for this to happen... But I realized I was wrong and now I want to die..." "No, that's stupid, get in the car!" *shoves her inside* *drives off*, or the infamous "You put explosives under the school and with the earthquake, you made us travel through time!" "Explosives? I'm 10! Moreover, time travel? How does that even work?!" "WE'RE NOT SCIENTISTS, HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW?!".

Ah... that was fun. I read the whole thing in like one morning. To be honest, I thought it had a pretty cool ending. It's not even a happy ending, it's just looked in an optimistic way. And even if it is, I don't think there's anything wrong with overcoming the odds and earning their happy ending. And by god, do they deserve a happy ending.

As for HSotD... I've already read it. It's not exactly good, but I know you'll get a kick out of reviewing it. Though it makes me wonder what you'll pick for the final Halloween week.

I think you nailed Drifting Classroom.
And the recap is so right on the overreactions.
Or on how there's also one problem after the other. This doesn't happen at the beginning, it's non-stop. I was really hoping for one or two "boring" chapters.
What doesn't stop bugging me is that not only Nishi was psychic, but there's also the monster made out of imagination and its bajillion little offspring who only showed up for one chapter. Very much Twilight Zone.
  • jcogginsa  - Royd Loyd
well remember, royd was able to block Yamamoto's strike, so we know royd was up there in the power rankings of the sternritter
  • muichimotsu  - Blut limits
Any of the Stern Ritter can use Blut and likely block a Shinigami's shikai abilities, though we know if they lose focus they can lose some of their defensive abilities. I wonder about their strategy that Kisuke was suggesting when he analyzed their abilities with Kirge.

Personally my biggest qualm with Drifting Classroom was how preachy it was, which I'm surprised wasn't touched on. Also by the end I was thinking, "You know what? Screw positive thinking, some kids deserve to be set on fire." But as batpoop as the sci-fi and sentiments were, boy did it know how to be interesting.

Whether it was executing Rukia instead of looking into someone murdering his captains, fighting his adoptive sons over listening to them, or sitting back while letting everybody else get beat up, Yamamoto was always cripplingly overprotective. I'm glad Kubo captured his wise, benevolent character so well.
  • muichimotsu  - Yamamoto's Flaws
This is something that I was almost thinking of as early as when he first started showing his more militaristic side, to say nothing of his progress in the story that maintained that he is set in his ways and the worst kind of grandpa you could ever have.

I only hope Unohana might be the one to take over his position, or perhaps it will just be erased to start over anew with just 12 divisions and a new leader. The division literally has no Captain or Lieutenant now, so honestly, I wonder how long Okikiba could last or even if he's remotely qualified.

I love WMR, I never miss one, but I always end up thinking they are going to review the newest chapters. But it is like you review the last week's one right when the newest one comes out, and it kind of confuses me.

Yamamoto falling appart. Most hillarious death of the week.

EDIT: Also I fully agree with Bachs rant, Yamamoto is an idiot.
  • muichimotsu  - Clarification
Idiot, no. He withheld his Bankai so he could use it as a trump card, should the person he defeated somehow survive, so he has some foresight. But he is short sighted and stubborn in many regards, so he's a real believable character.

The shows live at like 5 or 6 p.m. central on lord kat's stream Sunday's last I checked unless it changed.

Never around to see if it's still like that though.

These episodes are added to blip much sooner then TGWTG for that matter.

So last week I read a bit of Ibitsu, looking forward to the "Iron Vagina" and "Go into school with a Sledgehammer".
Unfortunately, this manga to be very boring to me... by the end of the third chapter. Not interesting art, concept not executed well... Yawn.
So instead I started reading the Drifting Classroom and this was MUCH, MUCH MORE interesting. I don't think there has been another manga that had me say "OH DEAR GOD WHY" so many times...
Since it's a pretty old series, the art is very different from what I read today, which was a nice break from nowadays mangas. Although I agree that the pacing felt very rushed, the kids don't get time to rest between events and so does not the reader. It still was more entertaining than Ibitsu where I could actually get invested a bit more in the characters, maybe because they were little kids.
Speaking of characters, I never thought a lunch-delivery guy could turn out to be such a hateful character! I really hated Sekiya's guts throughout the story and I wished he got a more painful death. That douchebag was just... Raah!
As for the ending, I'm actually glad it is a bit more optimistic, because those poor kids are going through horrible events an by the end, they deserve at least a somewhat happy ending. Strangely, in the last quarter of the series, the author seemed to go green and try to raise awareness about pollution. Kinda weird in a horror story.
Also, I'm really glad you guys mentioned the fact that Shou seems to be ALWAYS RUNNING! I started thinking the author had a weird passion for that...
All in all, Drifting Classroom suffers a bit from its old age but it still remains an interesting piece of horror. I would recommend to people who can hold their stomach in check when children get murdered and when that horrible, disgusting giant bug shows up... Oh god, that thing had so many legs...
  • Oddsky  - Dammit, I wrote too much
    As for last week's mangas:
One Piece had an awesome but short fight scene between Smoker and Vergo! Naruto had a whole chapter with just fighting (which kinda annoyed me) but really good artistic ideas. Bleach killed off my favorite character however considering how pointless his fight was and how he dies... I really stopped giving a damn... also yes, Kubo fucks up Juha Bach with his stupid expression at the end of the chapter. Toriko never ceases to surprise with its Pacman Bomb and I love this manga!
Cross Manage? I'm not really interested.

Next week is High School of the Dead... it's actually a few years old now, so I'm surprised you haven't read it before. Despite all the fanservice and zombies, there are some legitimately good moment in that series, so this should make for an interesting topic.

Also, if I were to give a final recommendation for Halloween, it would be "LIFE IS MONEY", a short series that is all about psychological battles. We had supernatural, science-fi and zombie, so I think ending with a psychological manga would be nice. The strongest advantage of this series is its excellent art which shines when we dive into a character's psychic.
    A definite thumbs-up from me!

Hm... The suggestion I was betting on for Halloween month was Fuan no Tane, or Seeds of Anxiety, which is basically a quick compilation of short stories and urban legends one after another.

I still hold that short stories are the most effective if you're really looking to get scared, which is why I think Linkara's approach with the LOTD has got the right idea, and the reason why Ibitsu's side story was actually scarier than the main one.

Ironically, that would make Fuan no Tane rather awkward to review, because there is just nothing to talk about, except maybe picking your favorite stories or outright narrating them from beginning to end. That's why I want to agree with Oddsky, here-- you should get a psychological manga for last week, if only to cover the full spectrum.
