The one that sticks out in my mind is the one where mind controlled joey duels yugi at the pier. The gimmick is far to convoluted for me to explain but I think it makes less sense than the saw blade one.
My favorite abridged series (besides yugioh and dbz)are the zelda ones done by adam west's lap dog.Edit: I'm also both surprised and enraged (sarcastic overtone) that the old LK memes were not mentioned in this episode. I was expecting this to be a full blown storm of "super special awesomes" and "In Americas!" what I got instead was an informative look into the psyche of the internet's biggest superstar. Damn you channel awesome (continued overtone of sarcasm) I like the direction Transmission awesome went in this episode. In most of the other episodes you kind of drown out and ignore some of the guests in favor of fairly senseless (albeit funny) banter. I hope you do this more in the future as it was kind of a nice change of pace.

i'm with joe on this tranformers 2 debate, critics (except for doug, nostalgia chick, film brain, angryjoe and spoony) should shut the hell up and enjoy the movie for what it is: an awesome action flick

i agree with all of that except for spoony...
i can't agree with him when he calls anyone who enjoyed Transformers a "Retard" thats not coolabout this podcast...I love that music by Powerglove..."Birth of a God" Sephiroth final battle music FTW
I absolutely loved Transformers ROTF...Skids and Mudflap are my favorite characters...and i don't think they are racist...they just act like wanna-be rappers

There are many, many action flicks that are not balls-to-the-wall stupid. Enjoy those instead and let Transformers 2 die a painful, obscure death. Stop defending the money-wasting morons who can't pass themselves off as talented if they try.
This is not a personal assault on you or your character, but the people who turn out mindless crap like T2 have no excuse. NONE. When you get all the creative control you could ever want and more money than God, you don't make something that sucks so hard! YOU DON'T DO THAT. It is morally and financially wrong.

I said most of what I needed to say over on NC's review of Transformers 2. Stupid and unfunny humans and robots, plotholes out the ass, the most insincere "relationship" I have EVER seen on film (Shia and Megan), too long of a running time with not enough story, silly comic book style resurrections, and Michael Bay jerking off his fetish for the military and expecting us to give a damn. This film is also dramatically hollow and doesn't care about its characters, although it seems to expect the viewer to, insultingly enough.
What I think is hilarious is all of the people who are getting butthurt over me hating the movie and giving me thumb downs, even when I say that I don't care if they like the film or not. It's like they think I'm personally attacking them by saying that I hate their movie. It's hilarious, and I laugh my ass off about it.

LOL, I'm not mad at all! That's the point I'm trying to get across. I hated it, other people liked it, that's fine. At least I back up my opinions about the movie with sensible arguments. We're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one, since you liked Mudflap and Skids, and I hated them. I guess we just have different senses of humor or something.
If nothing else, I will say that the filmmakers threw everything including the kitchen sink at the screen, so most people are going to like at least something with the movie. The scene in the forest? Beautiful. Megatron and Starscream have a more defined relationship in this film, which was cool. Effects were great. Action, despite moving at a million miles a second, was good. So, there are things that I thought worked, but I felt that the story failed to deliver. I know, who cares about story, right?
Anyways, I am NOT hating on the fans at all. That isn't how I do things. I cringed when Spoony insulted the people who paid for and enjoyed the film. I just thought it was amusing that people thumb downed me when I said I didn't like the film. Like, how DARE I have an opinion different from the people who liked it, right? I don't think it's cool for either side to bash the other. I do, however, advocate that people express their opinions in an intelligent fashion, whatever their opinion may be.

It's a real treat to get to hear from Little Kuriboh about the process of Yugioh Abridged, I must say.
As for it being inferior to Team Four Star's DBZ Abridged, I think he's selling himself a bit short. Both are great series and my two personal favorites. I'm know I'm a bit biased, but I give credit where it's due and Yugioh Abridged has kept me entertained from episode one to forty one and that's no small feat.

Great Episode Guys!
Nice to see you giving your guest a chance to talk (and I agree that few internet celebrities are as big as LittleKuriboh). You hit the informative/funny balance perfectly on this one.
Total agreement on 'Just Play Along', I love those shows and everyone on this site should be watching them, they're fantastic.
Joe, did you seriously suggest that everyone should be watching Transformers 2 just so they can decide if it's terrible or just mediocre? Even if it wasn't as awful as people are making it out to be, it's hardly great. It's barely even good. There are so many better movies to spend your money on...
Anyways, you guys are entertaining as always,
Cheers!

I was always curious how this Abridged business started. I've started watching Yu-Gi-Oh TAS after listening to this, and it's pretty funny. I was admittedly a fan of the show and the card game for a while, but I gave it up because my wallet was crying. XP
As for Transformers 2, I can agree that it was a fun popcorn movie with good action, and I love how the Transformers look in these movies, but there is just way too much stuff to pick apart that just drags the whole movie down. It really started going downhill for me when Soundwave showed up sounding like Dr. Claw.
Oh, and fun fact about Skids and Mudflap: Mudflap was voiced by Reno Wilson, the guy who did Frenzy in the first movie, and Skids is voice by Tom Kenny, who voices none other than Spongebob Squarepants!

There are actually some really good adult cartoon shows still. And quite a few if yah ask me... They are mostly on cartoon network and on some older 4kids/foxbox eps. before they aired in the US.
Also I find the newer so called "funny" shows to have a whole crud load of adult inuendos still provided in them.
Newer cartoons still consist of very adult things, they are just hidden well, or just flat out flung at you.BTW you guys rox! This is one of the big things I look forward to watching on tgwtg!

Nice podcast! Is it by any chance available for download through the iTunes music store? Or can you only manually get the updates through here. For example is there an RSS feed URL specifically for the Transmission Awesome podcast that I can add to iTunes?

I saw this movie about two days after the podcast and it wasn't terrible, but it is 100% a rental. The action was pretty awesome, but there's a lot of really bad jokes and some very shallow characterization that assure this movie doesn't deserve your $10.

Ahh Little Kuriboh. That guy's a class act. Good show, guys! That ep was probably one of the best eps of the podcast. Not just because you have the king of Abridged series on there. Just sounded like a lot of fun.
As for me, I haven't seen Transformers 2. I've seen my friends say it's good and it's bad. It's...confusing.
Will have to judge for myself. I'm kind of torn when it comes to talking about Mudflap and Skids. One one hand, they do seem racist and on the other I don't want to join the crowd. Still, I'll see this for myself when I can.
Good show, guys!

First a big shout out to LK, I've loved your series for a while.
Second, and believe me when I say I never thought I'd be doing what essentially amounts to trolling, I have to address the open invitation to explain why Transformers 2 was horrible. Of course that's actually impossible considering what facts I have to go on. As Angry Joe said, he liked it. He's obviously an intelligent individual who liked the movie.
Despite an inherent hatred of analogies I can only truly voice my opinion by equating the movies to food. In my opinion and in this case the opinion of many reviewers a good movie is like a good steak meal. Delicious and nutritious. Transformers was much more like a deep fried chocolate covered Twinkies, delicious if your in the mood for it, but packed with empty sugar and if you aren't in the mood for it truly disgusting.
Everything wrong with modern cinema IS presented in this movie. The humor is crass (mother eating has brownies), brazen (3 humping scenes in a kids movie) and in many cases racist (you know who). Women are objectified, Visuals take the place of dramatics, editing is abysmal (who knew an Arizonan air field was behind the Smithsonian or you could fly coast to coast commercially in 2 hours) and the plot was completely unsupported.
The Decepticons want to sacrifice earth to revive their own race while Auto Bots find themselves increasingly torn between stopping them and the future of their kind. This is actually a good plot, but instead the autobots and decepticons are down played to simply being goofy sidekicks. The movie is horrible. Saying your expectations were to high, you had to turn off your brain or that it was supposed to be a brainless action flick are fallacious. A good movie would not require a specific state of mind to enjoy.

If anybody beside AngryJoe is listening at this point, as official advocate of the YGOTAS fourms (a title that may or may not have come about from a social group I formed almost as a declaration of WAR!!!), I must say only that this episode managed to be incredibly insiteful into issues that pretty much anybody else pretty much ignores me about, such as adult themes in children's programming. If themes can be handled right, there is no reason to pull a punch with them. It's only by introducing more mature themes that television can maintain the "universal appeal" that it has. And in One Piece's case, keeping much of the more serious themes it delt with time to time would have made it more marketable to say the least about that!

But enough about that, I am officially hooked! You guys pulled off a "universal appeal" of your own! Legendary episode!

I'm just wondering what the Transformers were before the Industrial Age? Like horse carriages and water wheels? I also really like Shia LeBouf as an actor. MUCH LOVE LITTLE KURIBOH!

-
07.04.2009 - 08:42 | hazzaboner
I thought Transformers 2 sucked. I even made a cheap little video review that I posted as a blog on this site...
But I think Shia just needs to get a really good role before I can actually judge how good an actor he was.
There're rumors that he'll play Yorick Brown...
Hopefully he can do that.

I love a good abridged series, especially if it's one I'm familiar with (it's one of the reasons I adore Megami33's "Sailor Moon Abridged"
so naturally, I've heard all about "Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged" and after this podcast, I'm near tempted to check it out.
Is there really an F-bomb dropped in the new "Transformers" movie?! Just when we thought "shit" was the worst thing they could utter.

Great podcast...right on my birthday even.

Poor Paw...I wouldn't wish that fate on anyone.

Little Kuriboh is right. Kids are impressionable but if the parents don't tell them that this is wrong. This is what I'm going to teach my kids, yes they won't be allowed to watch rated R films, but they will watch every episode of censored Looney Toons and Tiny Toons and Animaniacs that I was allowed to watch. Parents either need to watch shows with their kids or explain right and wrong to them.
