I was actually kinda surprised to find out that James was more of a movie buff than a gamer (or so it seems). I remember his AVGN video of "where it all started" and it seemed as if he was really into games. Then I saw his 200th video and it turns out he's made tons of home movies and whatnot and it seems as if he was more into movies than games. That was really interesting.
I'd watch more of James' videos, but since it seems as if all of his non-reviews and non-AVGN videos are all horror, and I don't get along with that genre whatsoever >

06.08.2009 - 07:29 | adrasl300Its no news that he's into movies.

Loved the interview and yeah most movies are made for doing money and are exploitation movies but if they entertain they deserve my money. I think as James said the horror genre is one of the most profitable and easy to make. The zombie genre and Blair Witch Project\POV genre come to mind as markers of how low-budget a movie can be and still make money. The Cinema Snob on http://www.youtube.com/ user/thecinemasnob really knows how to rip apart these exploitation movies. Oh and I think the review James and Doug will make will start a new feud.

Well, there's lots of more stuff than horror too. And I really enjoyed his 200 movie, because I myself make videos too. If you look at his game collection btw, he's also a game buff, but maybe he isn't so proud about it? I don't know. But yeah, he's a real movie buff. His avgn reviews are full of movie references.
Damn. Damn. Damn damn!
Too bad they didn't ask anything about the clocktower (or what was it?) from Back to the Future :

06.07.2009 - 23:05 | Richard WeskerThat one short film James made, The Deader the Better, really seemed like an homage to Cemetary Man, if anyone's seen that. The Deader the Better is a neat looking black and white film, though, and I recommend that people see it.
I myself am a huge horror fan since I was a kid, even going as far as to see some really bad Z-grade stuff.
It's always good to hear James talk about the things he loves. I admire him as a filmmaker, and feel a kinship with him as a fellow fan of film.
I think Doug and James should make a film together sometime, even if it's a short film.

I'm really a lightweight when it comes to watch horror movies, they creep the heck out of me so easily but the works James did are pretty fun because there's always some humor or a theme that makes it easy for me to watch his videos completely.
I think its awesome that all the folks for TGWTG gathered together with James and Kyle to make that gold mine of entertaining and fun videos. :D
As for not competing or anything, I suppose its true but when we look on the internet there's always some jerks like th... nah I won't say it. Forget it, its... *explodes*

I think James is a hardcore in both (games & movies) in different points, IMO...
I think professionally, he likes to do videos, movies and maybe he wanted to pursue career in the movie industry.
While video games is something that he also like personally and I think he's proud with it also. He wouldn't have collected those NES games if he's not, IMO
Entirely, I really like all of James' works. Its really cool!

James totally needs to do Monopoly and the friend mentality that goes along with that game heh.
Ya know you and your friends are all excited when you pull out monopoly because everyone has their own "fool proof" monopoly strategy. Then about half an hour in people start making shitty deals and being a dick so someone gets pissed off, or everyone is completly board(lol).
About this time is when someone gets up to get a drink and everyone follows him XD

Thank you for posting this. Not a lot of people are aware that a Haddonfield actually exists, and it's in New Jersey. It's the richest place in the county where James and I grew up. (Don't know him personally, but he's from an area five or so minutes away from me)
He may live in PA now, but you can't take the Jersey out of the Jersey Boy.

06.08.2009 - 07:44 | Bratinatoris he drunk or is he always talking like that?

He said that they had just recently finished filming the brawl...he was probably just tired. I thought Doug was asleep, myself.
-
06.08.2009 - 08:03 | JMShearerMaybe I should try to watch more of the stuff James does when he's not doing a character of some sort. I think I might like his work a little better that way. This was a good interview.

I wonder if he's ever been to the Monroeville Mall near Pittsburgh where the original Dawn of the Dead was filmed. Either way he should go there for Zombiefest.

Just kidding....
I really love interviews... James was such a nice person IRL... not NEARLY as angry as his video game counter part. :D
I really do enjoy his Board James reviews... I hope he does Connect 4 because for some reason that game owned my soul when I was in elementary school. :\
