09.28.2010 - 00:31 | NOTYETUSEDNAMEHi RolloT, Paw, Sean and Angry Joe. Great show as always. Kudos for recognizing PushingUpRoses for the outstanding blogger that she is. Congratulations to J_Conrady for his muppet show blog-that was exceptional writing. Also for evilralphwiggum for the Ninja Turtle Board Game review-I loved seeing that one too. I look forward to your next show. Peace.

Liked it, but taking away from Linkara's headlining on Mondays. Inexcusable. Your place is on Saturday night.
WTF. Why are you this late?
Anyways loved the show, your a great host, although I would definitely love to see more LordKat on the show. The sexual tension between RolloT and LordKat is one of the main highlights of the recent TA's.
Very nice job , PushingUpRoses! You rock!

I'm glad I missed that argument on twitter; I like Spoony, but he has a habit of saying 'If you don't like what I like or if you like something I deem unworthy, you're an idiot'. I've also heard Angry Joe use the same argument when talking about TF2, but I'm not bringing that up again.
Recently I saw Spoony comment on the Dresden RPG, and was thinking 'hey, if he did a vlog about that it might be interesting, I should ask if he's gonna do one', but then my immediate response was 'nah, he might shit on the books and then I'd have to kill him'.
Good to hear PUR on the podcast, I'll have to check out the lets play of Oregon trail.

Halo was revolutionary because it was one of the first FPS shooter to work really good on a console. It also a few new ideas here and there.
The point spoony wanted to make is that from a purely gameplay fashion this game wasnt that much remarkable for us pc veterans, especiecially at that point most pc fps games were still much better.
This has nothing to do about the game being bad or good. Its just a description of a different perspective.
On his "generic" remark, thats also very relative.
Its not like the artstyle was new, the gameplay was new, or anything else was.
To call it straight out generic might be harsh, but then again it wasnst like we have never seen space marines before...
Honestly for many of us, all the hype when a new halo is released, or for that matter when any high profile shooter is, is just ridiculous.
And i think *i certainly cant tell for sure but from what i gathered* that is what made spoony go on his little crusade, and with joe he found a worthy opponent ;)
Geekfight! :p

long blonde lushious hair and blue eyes?
first i think is 80's metal, and i XD
Then i remember i have long dirty blonde hair and blue eyes... and i facepalm.
The local gamer girls can be a bit scary though, tended to show up drunk at the internet cafe to play EQ or CS, stumbeling about drunkenly, then washing their mouth with hand soap to hide the alcohol smell...
Then again.. the guys did the same, and they're even more scary, as they tend to wanna fight...
Until one of the girls beat him up...
yeah... the internet cafe closed down...

=D TMNT Pizza Power! made awesome blog of the week. :D ^______^ Yayyyyy!
LoL (and after listening to the podcast)
Yep that's what happened in the review.
XD
Also for the record Caitlin was the one who started raping April.

I may have bent over April, but Caitlin was the one who started humping her :) Hahaha.
And then naturally it had to go further, lol.
I had the intentions, she had the actions. XD

At approximately the 23-minute mark, Roses suggested Joe pretend to be a girl to see any difference.
I can attest that my time in 'City of Heroes' was so much easier as a female character. I never SPECIFICALLY stated my gender and was simply role-playing my toon while deflecting questions regarding RL info. I stayed "innocent" and still received many requests for support, Supergroups, "money", Power-leveling, etc. I wasn't even a support class (I was and Illusions/Radiations controller with focus on pets and NEVER had a problem getting into groups. I never "flirted" and still got the world handed to me on a platter.
As a male toon it was MUCH different. We were "a dime a dozen" and were expected to quietly grind in the Atlas Sewers until lvl 50 and then .... maybe ..... you could find a Monster-Hunting group IF you were the right build.
It was like day and night.

At 33-minute mark:
Callaghan's Saloon is based on a series of books called "Callaghan's Cross-time Saloon" written by Spider Robinson.
The concept is that's Mick runs an extremely friendly bar with an extremely "interesting" clientele. Mick is a retired "space cop", for lack of a better word. It's hard to explain/describe the the and do it justice. You will not be disappointed if you look for them.
Look here[/ url] for a list of books ('Lady Slings the Booze' is a personal favorite):

Girl gamers. I seem to be commenting about that topic a lot lately.
It is unfortunate but true that females have to be better than their male counterparts to earn the same level of respect. That's pretty much the same all through life. Of course it's not true of every male, but there will always be that one or two in your raid or party that thinks actually listening to orders delivered by a female leader is an optional exercise.
What do you do? You learn to live with it. And hopefully have another male subordinate you can use as a front when you really really absolutely need to have that one asshole listen to you.
When everything's on an even footing and you're just one of the crowd, you expect that anything you say is going to be followed up with "oooh, who's that sexy voice? Bow chikka wow wow". You expect that anything important you have to say will have to be said twice as loud and three times as often. You expect that when you pull an epic move, NO one will notice, but if you slip up the eye-rolling will be practically audible.
In short, Joe can relax. Being hit on is funny (most of the time. Creepy stalker comments only make you look like a creepy stalker -_- ). The thing that really makes girls want to fly under the radar is the much more subtle exclusion that we face. The assumption that we don't matter, or are just plain going to suck at our role.
I mean, how many times have you heard a girl gamer own that they're a gamer only to follow it up with "and I WILL KICK YOUR ASS at _____". It's kind of a funny stereotype, but also kind of telling.
And yes, I will kick your ass at any game you care to name. =D
-
Joe, I think you're mixing up the phrase "rip off" with the word "generic." Something can be generic without being a rip off. You made the example of "Rice Crispies" and "Lice Crispies" - or something like that. That would be a rip off. But a game that doesn't do anything ground breaking or different or even polishes something up to a higher standard is generic.
I've never personally played Halo, so I'm not going to say what it is, but I wanted to make sure those terms were clear.
Anyway, loved the podcast! :D It's always good to see a girl on the podcast, especially one as awesome as Pushing Up Roses! I listened to Oregon Trail LP just a few days ago and then heard your voice and squealed in glee. ^_^
