06.20.2010 - 00:30 | Richard WeskerDo you know why I won't see Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World? Because the thought of Michael Cera kicking ANYONE'S ass is too farfetched even for fiction.
The Mortal Kombat Rebirth trailer was interesting. I hear people comparing it to the newer Batman movies. Gritty, more realistic. The problem with that is that the Batman movies stay true to the source material, whereas the Mortal Kombat Rebirth trailer took out all the magic and mysticism of the MK games. It's not Mortal Kombat without those things, in my opinion. If they were to make an actual film based on this trailer concept, it might be cool, but it won't be MK to me. Still, interesting and clever take on MK, I guess.
It was nice to hear Punky on TA, I think she needs to do a video series with this Sherry Daiquiri character (hope I'm spelling the name right).

I am not a fan of Michael Cera, but I am still willing to give Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World because I enjoy reading the Scott Pilgrim novels. Also, I've heard somewhere that the ending of the movie will be different from the ending of the novels, and I would like to see how the endings will differ from each other.

I actually just started reading the "Scott Pilgrim" comics so I haven't really watched the trailers out of the fear of getting spoiled for the upcoming volumes. Even then, I still think "Scott Pilgrim" is worth a look.
Just me or does Huffy Joe sound like the name of a plushy doll?

Seriously, Scott Pilgrim is about a 23-year-old named Scott Pilgrim (obviously) who meets a girl that had been appearing in his dreams. But to get with her, Scott has to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends. The premise sounds silly, but the story is told in an amusing fashion, and I happen to enjoy the art-style. It's something you would have to read for yourself to understand. While I wish Michael Cera wasn't cast in the movie, I still have hopes knowing it's directed by the director of Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.
Edit: About Mortal Kombat, I believe it is a pitch for a movie that is a more realistic take on Mortal Kombat.

Chris, while you are a cool host, you make yourself less and less likable with each show. You refuse to watch Back to the Future, you like to listen to Linkin Park despite being aware of why it is illogical to do so, and your position as "the guy with bad taste" gives us fellow Lost fans a bad rap. I still like you man, but you need to straighten up in some areas.

Awesome interview, punky. I think that's the first time I heard you speak live and in color and you sound really well spoken and a lot of fun. (I'm a sucker for accents, though, so a little biased). All awesome blogs were great, glad that Sad Panda / Welshy song and vid got up there. Those guys always deliver. Congrats to NYUN too, that was a big-time blog that took some guts to put up.
And wow...that 'hippopotamus' intro was harsh, but oh so funny. :D You guys were really firing all on cylinders.
Really looking forward to Dena next time. Her Silent Hill 2 analysis and Resident Evil playthrough are personal favorites.

The episode went on really well compared to how it started. Heh, only joking, but you gotta admit it was a really weird beginning. Thanks to this I might give Lost a chance and watch it. Can't wait for the next one.

It's gotten to the point where it's hard to imagine Chris not cry for Lost now. "Huffy" Joe might not have been long, but after looking it up, it was pretty appropriate.
I thought you guys were way off base with the new Mortal Kombat game. At first, I felt the same way. I looked like we had played it before. That was until I saw it in action through Gamespot's and Screwattack's demonstration. Now I'm excited for it more than Marvel vs. Capcom 3. The game just looks like the shot in the arm the franchise needs. That or the Rebirth movie. I'm cool with both.

Hold on; you have ADHD but you could follow Lost?
Also, what level is your D&D campaign? +14 to attack and you missing 4 times sounds pretty damn unlucky unless you're Level 10+.
I started following Punky on Twitter after listening to this and tried to watch her ustream. Unfortunately it was 7.30am here and she was watching The Room. I have my limits.
MK: Reboot; I'm kind of in between the G Laser and Joe on this one. Making it dark and realistic might be the right way for the series to go, but getting rid of the mysticism does ruin a lot of the MK universe. Maybe if they included the mysticism and made it dark so you ended up with a serious version of Golden Child, that would be friggin' awesome.
Finally, doesn't Rollo T still have a challenge to do for his fan art requesting permission to be restored? I think it should be to watch BTTF series so we can at least lay to rest one of the film/TV arguments from this show and perhaps then things can move on a bit.

I am a new listener, really new acctually this was the first episode i ever listened to, i'm still not really sure of the release schedule but it seems like you guys used to realse new episodes weekly and you havent released one in a month so when is the new episode. sorry if im just being an noob or something i just want to know.
