He's only 15. That's ridiculous. I can kind of tell by his drawings that he's young, but 15? Either way he's hilarious. I'm still a kid myslef so this gave me a lot of motivation. Maybe I can grow some talent after all.

Anyways, Joe, I can't believe you didn't mention Jessica Alba. I'm probably going to get like 20 downs because of this, but she just can't act. I'm sorry, she's hot, but I don't think she's acted in a single movie that I would reccommend to anybody. She's an actress that I think only gets a job because of her looks. And its not just a one time deal. She's acted in several supposedly "big name" movies, but she just doesn't cut it for me.

And another thing about Meghan Fox's recent movie, Jennifer's Body, I think beyond the thick veil of sex, there is an underlying message that I don't think everybody saw. Look at the relationship between the two main girls and irony that lies there. I know I'm trying to make this mvie sound thought provoking, and it really isn't, to the contrary teally, but I reccommend seing the movie again. Sure Meghan Fox only got it because of her looks, but I think replacing her with any actress that is considered young, would still make the movie appropriate.

The movie itself is really not that bad. Plus there are several... hmm... redeeming values to it...

And about the issue of whether or not being hot is really considered a talent now, I guess it depends on who the movie is aimed at. Like stated, Transformers 1 and 2 are movies for frat boys who value Megan Fox's tits bouncing on screen over her ability to act out her role. I'm not really in the demographic to appreciate full shots of her ass as she hunches uncomfortably over a motorcycle to work on it. C'mon. Like my brother said 'I actually felt like she was running away from giant robots watching her performance.'

And one example worse than Megan Fox? Jessica. Alba. Her whole career has basically been her looking hot in a movie. Granted, she got a role in Sin City, but, yeah, she spent that movie simply looking hot, too. So I guess it all comes down to the fact that being hot can get a girl roles in a film .. but not nearly as appreciated roles.

Now on topic, I'm a guy, and I care more about acting. I cannot enjoy these movies with shitty actors. Hell, I can barely enjoy movies with good actors. Also, all this emphasis on looks and beauty is not good for the youth, I think. It will turn out bad. I just saw the Mulan video which brought up the foot folding thing in China, and that was considered attractive. Something bad will always come out of this idolizing of attractive people. Just my two cents.

I gotta echo everyone's sentiments with Jessica Alba as another example of the "questionably talented hot chick of the moment". She was all over the place a few years ago but now you barely see or hear from her. I can only imagine that Megan Fox will follow suit as soon as the next disposable QTHCOTM strolls along. The actresses with real talent will stick around longer, regardless of looks.

I find hotness in media to be a red herring, and I hate it. Writing, acting, and a overall quality of a product in no way should be taken for granted just because you happen to have eye candy to please men. In my opinion it's why bad movies and video games get a good pass and only perpetuates the production of low grade media.

Final note: No matter how pretty a girl is in a movie, unless they stimulate the body AND the mind they're really not going to draw me in.

Ok, I never found Natalie Portman all that hot. "not only T&A" she has no T lol. Then she cut her hair down to shorter than the average guy cuts his and... well... it just doesn't look right for her. I thought it was a guy for a second before I recognized her face.

Her doing gangster rap... wow... I was half laughing and half going "Holy shit, she's scary as hell!" seeing it. Now it was intended for comedy, but still. Look up her with rap and you'll likely find it, I think it was an SNL skit.

Another good actress that is damn attractive: Kristen Kreuk. She hasn't been cast in the best roles, but she does very well with what she's given, AND she's damn hot.

If you have equal acting ability and one is hotter, pick the hotter one, sure. If the actress's natural look fits the character's ideal look easily, and then you should base something on looks. Like a woman that looks Asian where the character is Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc., you may not get the exact ethnicity you need, but as long as the fans aren't douches, you can get close, you still need a generic look for it to be convincing. Same for high schoolers, I'm sorry, but Megan Fox can not pull off teenager. She can't. If she's a teenage role, the she's that teenager an adult man sees in a mall, stares at her ass, then gets told "Dude, she's 16" and punch himself for feeling like a pedophile, regardless of the 16 year old looking 25.

Wow that youth look rant went on a while, but anyway, think of this: pick out any actress you can think of that has an nerdy, meh, bookworm look that is very good at acting, then think of Tara Reid at the time of Alone in the Dark by Uwe, and tell me who you'd pick for the main female lead of Alone in the Dark. Just an example. I'd pick the meh, nerdy, bookworm look, as it fits the role, PLUS good acting ability.

Look at the Twilight movie and the trailer for New Moon. Tell me if you think those actors are any good. Tell me if you think that lead actress can act. Also tell me, that damn girl always looks emotionless or depressed in everything I see her in, i.e. bad acting PLUS depressed == meh looks to me, how the hell does that look attractive? But that's besides the point. Still the whole thing where there HAD to have been decent actors with decent attractiveness that still could have worked for the eye candy they needed, but they went with extremely hot and talentless hacks, instead.

Ya can't pick JUST based on looking like the character should ideally look, if their acting ability is meh, and someone else who is good would only require a little makeup, goddamn pick the good actor or actress.
