Because my co-hosts betray me and add dramatic Fail Horns to the podcast in POST_Production doesnt mean I lose. LoL.
#5. Joe (Its not our fault co-op AI is difficult to program for)
#4. Scott (Melee is easier than I made it out to be)
#3. Joe (DLC is BS)
#2. Scott/Joe (Stalemate. Its the direction of the series that should dictate the control scheme and inventory system)
#1. Joe (Scott agrees with me)Joe: 3 (4)
Scott: 1 (2)It was a good effort but I win. Either Scenario.

With all do respect general, that's bullshit and you know it.You're fellow officers betrayed you for a reason, and though you made a valiant effort, the general consensus is that you lost, don't believe me?Look at your thumbs up and down. And to be honest, you didn't compose yourself terribly well. How well you argue is almost as important as the points you make, and though you made a valiant effort, your actual debating skills were, well, downright terrible. You know what, you need to play a game called stronghold and stronghold crusader, it's an awesome game AND will expand your vocabulary. hit the f keys for insults in skirmish mode.Fire emblem may also expand your vocabulary. Also, what was the other scenario? That's only one.
um, one more thing sir, and your not gonna like this...
..atrocious means, uh, really really ugly, like, barf bag ugly.
...General are you OK?You seem to be, wow your face is getting really red.

lol, poor Joe. Ya got your ass handed to ya lol. Dont worry, I see where you were coming from, and I actually kinda agree with ya on some of your points
As for the Paw's Button, nice, I was wonderin when some hip hop was gonna be used. If ya ever use some more nerdcore hip hop, you should look up the 8 bit boys on their myspace channel. Their MCs that sample old NES music

Imma have to back up Joe on this one. His points, as far as I'm concerned, are still valid, even though they do kinda switch from flaws in the game to flaws in the company from time to time.
5) Co-op AI. To be fair, Sheva is better than a decent amount of other partner AIs out there. However, she does have a tendency to stand there and take damage, get in your way, and stop fighting to pick up useless items. SCXCR's point that it's hard to code all the different scenarios is true as well, but that doesn't excuse anything, as it's their job to code those scenarios. If AI is bad, it's bad, and if no one speaks up they won't try to do anything better.
4) Melee. Eh, Joe says what needs to be said here, and SCXCR is right.
3) DLC. Again, Joe makes his case here, and he's right. The company should release a demo video, a review page, or something to that effect. And really "vote with your wallet" doesn't stand up because the morons who buy the stuff just because it has the name on it are the ones they are going to cater to, because that's where the money is.
2)Inventory. I can't actually back Joe up on this one, as my only real complaint about it was that it was way too small.
1) Direction. It really has gone down a different route than it started on. From action/horror slowly to just action. No more scares, no more ambience, no more fear. Even the jump scares are absent.

Hmmm...who I do I think won the Great Debate between Joe and SCXCR (congrats on winning the contest!)?
I think we all won from getting such knee-slapping entertainment from all this!
I know it's such a cop-out answer but I really have to hand it to you guys for putting together such a great podcast this week. That "Twilight Zone" intro was probably one of my favorite things you guys have done (we need more creative intros, stat!) and I can see you guys invested in a shiny new "wah-wah" machine and put it to great use. ;)
Awww, thank you Paw for featuring my comic as an awesome blog of the week!
Anyone remember those deformed hamster creatures in the Quizno's commercials that were all like "WE LOVE DA SUUUUUUBS"? Yeah. I think a comic about those two abominations would be an oddly outlandish comic...or in the same Quizno's vein, a comic book about the torrid, forbidden sexual tension between Scott and the oven. ("Say it sexier, Scott...")
...now I have given myself some nightmares! :woohoo:
Marvelous work, lads! Now to check out that "Gex" review!

It seemed like Joe raised several valid points, though I haven't played RE5 myself. Personally I don't usually mind real-time inventories though.
I totally agree that 3D is aggressively overused in the industry today, and in a lot of games it just isn't necessary. I'd love to see more big-budget games that ditch the 3rd dimension and put those resources into gameplay and other areas.

The whole "3D versus 2D" thing in platforming already has a champion on the 2D side.
Megaman 9.
Megaman 9 was beyond fucking awesome- that game was amazing, and not just for nostalgic reasons. And that's only in the industry. The indie developers have done a massive amount of awesome stuff- La-Mulana, Cave Story, Spelunky are all amazingly good platforming games...in 2D.
Thing is, though, that I think that the point that 2D games aren't really profitable anymore rings true; as such, platforming, which works best in 2D is going to go the way of the adventure game- where the real quality is in the indie sphere of things.

I think Joe definitly won the argument. Most of SCXCR's arguments were basically just 'yeah it sucks, but its not that big a deal'. Dont buy the DLC isnt a valid argument at all, since its basically saying 'yeah it sucks, but i couldnt care less'. And saying that it doesnt matter that the AI is bad because its hard to do... come on now, really?
Anyway great podcast :0)

Congrats to Pie and Jenna for their AWESOME blogs of the week. Both ladies deserve it and they will be hoisted up on the shoulders of Awesomeness by this site. Because they rock!
Yeah! Anyway, as for who won between Joe and SCXCR? Hmm. It's hard for me to judge as I don't have the game. I DO have to agree with the assessment of Sonic now. Why is he a knight? Why is he turning into a werewolf?
It just doesn't make sense. At least classic Sonic can be found in collections, VC and other places.
Yeah, I was a big Sonic fan back in the day. I sorta liked Heroes. But, I hated falling into oblivion.

SCXCR was pretty funny throughout the podcast. If you were a co-host, you would fit well with the rest of the cast. Joe, face it. You lost. As far as 2D games vs. 3D games, you can't go wrong with 2D games. It has always been a staple for video games and even after new technologies are created, 2D games will never go out of style.

Anyway great podcast :0)Did you see the videos associated with this?
Actually a couple of the arguments were Joe saying something sucked, then me saying why it didn't; the controls, the melee system, etc. The DLC and AI were the exceptions.
For the DLC (which I didn't say sucked) I really couldn't care less, largely because when I could get my hands on a 360 with RE5 it didn't have Internet access and thus no DLC. And while not buying DLC isn't a valid argument to you, it certainly seems to be one for Capcom. Enough people bought the DLC pack that they're going over more DLC options, including but not limited to RE5: Director's Cut.
And I never said it was okay to have bad AI because it's hard. I just said it's hard, more so than most people realize. Joe's citing recently-released titles with the same problem supports this. In fact, the AI argument in the video I submitted turned into a joke about how poorly-conceived Sheva Alomar was as a teammate and a character in the RE universe. :D
