Always great to hear from Spoony. He's one of the funniest guys on the site. I want Insano goggles. I know Daffy has some. But, he won't share! Curses!
Still, great awesome blogs and one bad blog. That blog was horrible. REALLY horrible. I couldn't think of anything to say. I was just too shocked.
Good podcast, guys and now I'll go watch One Piece!

Final Fantasy 10 is pretty much what made me get fed up with Final Fantasy, I actually haven't played one since that one game out. I watched a friend play 10 a bit but refused to touch it myself.
I also watched her play 10-2. One of my first questions was "So.... when do you think the tentacle monster shows up?"
and I watched the same friend play the PS2 Metal Gear Solids, hate them too :D though I suspect 2 was Kojima's hissyfit because the Japanese public didn't want to play as an "old man" ...
Also on the subject of video game themes, I started humming the Okami theme when you guys mentioned it. HA! :P

I actually liked X a lot despite some of the annoying voice acting. It's a game that can be nitpicked to death, so Spoony probably wouldn't have trouble ripping on it. Hey, if he makes it funny, I'll watch it despite the fact I love it. Though I would prefer if he ripped on XII. That's a game I think deserves it.

I would have to disagree with you guys when you say that the Old School music is better. I agree, the people who did the Old School music did an amazing job with what they had to work with, but they are still mind numbingly simple midi tunes. Most people who would appreciate those tunes would be the people who have feelings of nostalgia backing them.
With the New School music, the music producers had much more to work with and created music that can appeal to anyone. There's more emotion behind this music and anyone listening to it can feel the situation that the music was supporting.
Best examples of this are "Gnosis" from Xenosaga, "What kind of Hospital is This" from Half Life 2 Episode 1, "Spectre Induction" from Mass Effect, and "Northlands Forest" from Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. You wouldn't be able to hum these excellent tunes as they are too complex, but you will still be treated with some deep and interesting music.

Well yes Spoony and Paw are pretty right about the fact that old school music was more awesome and memorable because the songs were so well written and done with so little. In order of the timeline my favorite songs would be the theme song from the first world in Super Mario World for NES, than almost all the soundtrack from Terranigma and Tales of Phantasia for the SNES, the intro song for Snatcher for the Mega CD, all the Soundtrack for Xenogears on the PS1, the Main Theme for Advent Rising for PC and here is a new one that was released this year and a new franchise The Last Remnant for PC.

Nicely done as always. Spoony is a fantastic video reviewer and personality, always enjoyable, always articulate (even his rambling is entertaining) and probably my favorite out of the entire TGWTG team. I noted on his site that if he did FFX, it would easily be the greatest thing of all time. No game deserves a beating more.
Whether it's meant to be sarcastic or satirical or not, the bad blog was bad for the sheer stupidity it exudes.
Tokyo Gore Police is full guilty pleasure fodder. :D

I thought it made perfect sense that most of the songs on Paw's list were from JRPG's; that kind of game tends to be heavy on the narrative, and music is a good way to add atmosphere and emotion to a scene. I mean, think abut it, most of the other genre's are so action oriented and homogeneous that its kinda hard to make "hard rock song #9979" stand out and be memorable.
Plus, the Japanese have Nobuo Uematsu setting the standard for them. 'Nuff said. ;)

You know, I almost hope Spoony DOES sit back and do MGS2, cause the game IS brilliant. The stuff they touch on in that game is happening right now. People putting every minute detail of their lives online, so ALL of history is recorded instead of only the important parts? Twitter, Facebook, Myspace. The game didn't make sense at the time, but if you watch it now (I say "watch" cause, let's face it, that's what you mostly do in Metal Gear Solid games) it's mind-bogglingly perceptive.
spoony you rock its funny because i was actually listening to your video of how Burton came to be and how you started :woohoo:
