Hey for the contest can we do it like a straight up commentary? like video playing with dub over?
-
08.22.2009 - 17:47 | Rollo T
As long as it's you talking, we don't care what the video is.... except if there's penises (peni?) in it. We're not accepting those entries.

For the contest. Do we have to do a like a review of a video on TGWTG or we can do a whole new review on some new game???

great podcast, the song for the cast was damn good. and you brought up the guy who plays hard games until he beats them... from a recent review on the site i'd like to see him play abadox cause that looked hard as hell. and imo i didnt think watching lost would be any good as soon as i saw that damn polar bear on a freaking island probably near the freaking equator...
-
08.22.2009 - 19:02 | Rollo T
I could give you so many reasons why refusing to watch LOST because of the polar bear is a waste, but I don't feel like listing them. Just know that during the 99.9% of the show that doesn't involve the polar bear (which they explain) is brilliant.
Just watch this clip, and tell me that the interacting, music, and acting don't speak to you even without knowing very much about the situation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOqtKSqhWYg

Awesome, guys. Makes my Saturday night sick at home worth it and thanks for choosing my blog for your podcast.
Benzaie is quite the interesting fellow, I have to say. Never pictured him as a teacher.

holy crap that was a good little video of lost, makes me wanna watch it now despite the bullshit brought about all the nonsense of that damned island. all of a sudden guy out an 8 story building, wasn't expecting that
and yes i do get that its more than just omg look at what just happened, good music for that last scene, fit it well
-
08.22.2009 - 19:31 | Rollo T
Oh I wasn't trying to attack you or nothing. I just know way to many people who dismiss the show because of the polar bear without giving the show it's chance. I'm cool with people disliking LOST, but way too many people just toss it aside because of the polar bear. I'd rather people get a look at why I'm so adamantly in love with the show instead of basing an opinion just on one bizarre plot point.
Again, not attacking you. Just trying to give LOST its deserved fair shot.

I'm sorry, I don't really understand the new contest exactly. ^^; Can someone explain?
But, anyway, yeah. Charlie's death was a REALLY sad moment in LOST. I mean, jeez! The writers practically ripped my heart out when Claire found out!
I also thought the scene in the last season of LOST where...well, spoilers for people, but I'll just say it involved Locke, Ben and a cord...was really sad.

All you have to do is pick a video or article on the website. You don't have to a video, but you do have to record yourself talking about said video. Say for example you picked NC's newest Warriors of Virtue. You could say "Another great NC, I loved some of his jokes, but I never thought the movie was that boring. That villain was really off the wall, etc. I think I may have a reason to explain the whole "tao" thing, etc. etc."
Or you could do what Joe said and provide a counter argument. For example you could pick our last TA where we talked about game scores and you could say "You know I disagree with Rollo T. He's a sexy bitch, but scores are absolutely necessary for giving a game a thorough judgement, etc. etc." Again, just find a video/article/podcast on the site that you feel you could talk a lot about. We're trying to pick people based off their ability to create a conversation. Once you do that, upload it to MyPodcast or to YouTube, and post a blog with the link. Then, you pray.
BTW the scene where Hurley finds out about Charlie's death is sadder to me mostly because Hurley is the least emotionally mature person on the island, and you can pretty much tell he has no clue how to react and it all comes off of a moment where Hurley finally feels all of the stress of the situation lifted. That scene kills me.
Oh and the Locke scene only gets really heart wrenching once you realize what happens afterwards, and that there was no miracle.

Thanks a lot.
Oooh, yeah. I totally agree about Hurley finding out. I mean, Charlie was about the only person he could really have called a "friend" on the island.... Well, decides Libby for some - obvious reasons. XD
Tell me about it. The writers just decide to drive the stake further by giving us some hope (and taking it away) when "Locke" came back on the island.

yeah i understand that your not trying to attack me with that one little fact that just kinda made it iffy for me and true there is more do a show than just what you see in the first few episodes and what not. Thought i'm not really into those type of shows then i see some clips from further along in the series so i think that i could give it a second try and see what i think again (get past the polar bear thing)

Awesome episode, guys. As usual. Good to see Benzaie back on the podcast.
Oh, and about the contest. Can we submit a blog instead of a video? Because I want to enter, but don't have any video equipment.
-
08.22.2009 - 19:58 | Rollo T
All we want is to be able to hear your voice. There doesn't have to be any video, but you there has to be audio. It can be in the form of a podcast like TA, or a video, but in the end we have to be able to listen to you.

Awesome podcast. Its an honor to be named one of the awesome blogs of the week. Also I might enter the contest. I think I can counterpoint or discuss Linkara's videos. Just which one.

New contest, eh? BRING IT ON, BABY!
Quick question, can we do multiple entries either by commenting on different videos or commenting on the same video but in different ways (ie. a stream of conciousness review vs. a play-by-play commentary on the video, just an example). It's interesting that you guys bring up a point about American, or at least mainstream cinema, stagnating. As a writer, it really pisses me off that so many shoddy, unecessary remakes or "reimaginings" keep getting made and peddled out while so many writers out there work their fingers to the bone and battle with writer's block (a horrendous foe) trying to come up with an original story and develop worlds and characters.
I don't have too many qualms with adaptations of books, comics, plays, musicals etc. because it's taking a story from one medium and using another medium to interpret it (if that makes any sense). It's just when people rehash something from the same medium (ie. film) because they're starved for cash and "ideas" that it really begins to aggravate me. The fact that they also seem to be pushed out an accelerating rate is rather worrisome. At this point, I wouldn't be too surprised if a remake of "Titanic" was on the horizon five or so years from now.
Anyway, I don't really watch much TV and I rarely cry over shows (music is a whole other matter) but one moment instantly comes to mind: "Full Metal Alchemist", Maes Hughes.
Another loely podcast, fellas!
PS: C'mon, you totally know a zebra superhero would be totally awesome.

That walking away song, which was really good, sounded a lot like The Beatles. Or am I crazy?

I have not really seen many foreign films, but I have loved what I have seen. One movie I like is Wasabi, a French film. (Heard of it, Benzaie?) It's awesome.

I saw Volcano High a few years ago and I hated it. The main guy was starting to get in to a fight and then he stops for no reason at all. You might say that he didn't want to be thrown out but why would he when all the other students was fighting all the time.
