Loved this discussion. I'm mixed on spoilers. For films, I'm okay with them but with TV shows, I'm not. Being someone who watches Survivor, I try hard to avoid IMDB because I don't want anything from that show ever spoiled for me. Especially not after season 20, when someone accurately posted all of the eliminations and the winner of the show before the finale even aired. God, that bugged me to no end.

I admit, I am really bad when it comes to spoiling movies and shows when talking about them to my friends. But I am learning to control that. lol :D

Should probably make it one of my New Year's Resolutions.

A horrible spoiler for me was when just started to watch Wrestling once again and I found out how Summerslam this year was gonna end and... yeah. I flipped my shit.

I love the show Dexter. I never watched it until netflix (I dont have showtime) had it on there watch instantly thing on xbox. So any way before I liked it I was watching the soup and they played the season 4 finally (for fans out there yes that one). So when I got to liking the series when I got to season 4 I was really mad that I could't of had that reaction like other people had.

oh gawd............ my mom's the type that also tries to guess EVERY SINGLE FRIGGIN possible ending or progress of a movie or an anime or a show, and its not just the times when we watched stuff together as a family, she's like that too with other people =_+

Don't worry my mother's the same way gonzo, at least when she came to the Harry Potter movies! Ironically enough she already watched the thing!Although my mom does love horror movies.

Danny Phantom movie event weeds of evil, spoil one big thing that was a at this first episode of season three, Vlad becomes Mayor, and they didn't even start finishing showing season 2!

I saw Serenity before I knew that there was even a TV series before it. That's sort of a case of me spoiling something for myself completely on accident without even trying.

I personally cannot STAND spoilers. I'm just really sick of people throwing them around, assuming everyone else has seen everything. I like to drop what you refer to as "spoiler-bait", but I do so in the hopes of enticing people to look into the actual work and find out for themselves; I take great pains to avoid spoiling things, like my friend did once with the end reveal of the final monster of Ghostbusters.

I don't really pay attention to movie trailers any more; I KNOW they will spoil everything interesting about the movie before I see it. These marketing people really need to take advice from people who make trailers for things on this site, especially Linkara and whoever edited the trailers for the anniversary specials. THAT stuff makes for awesome videos on their own.

The moment with spoiling in supplementary material that stands out most in my mind is with a book cover for the 22nd Xanth novel, Zombie Lover. On the off-chance anyone reading this ever reads that book, DO. NOT. read the back cover. It WILL give away a crucial detail about the driving premise of the entire book, and render the plotline far less "sweet" as the quote puts it.
