06.03.2011 - 16:05 | DoctriniusI get the impression that people read less these days. A lot of people acting think reading is boring or old fashioned, which is a real shame. I still know a few people who are avid readers, though.
Great musical choices this episode. Baccano for the break, and Earthworm Jim (New Junk City I believe?) in the background, just to name a few.
I'm also one of those people who would much rather have a physical copy of something. This applies to anything from DVDs, to manga and books. I am not really a collector, not yet anyway, but I hate the idea of paying for something that's merely in my computer. As mentioned in the show, you want to be able to gaze upon, and cradle, your paraphernalia. A lot of it comes down to personal preference; I just like holding a book or a volume of a manga and reading it. It's not the same staring at a screen.

06.03.2011 - 20:23 | MeisterLi21I have a Tablet thingy (Android) with two Comic apps on it. I bought some comics with it and it's actually really comfortable to read comics with it. The Comics are usually downloaded, and the comics are rather affordable.
Still, I think a lot of 'piracy' of comics happens because - well, your local comic book store doesn't have it right now and you want to read it NOW, not later. Also, for many people it might be more attractive to fork out 2 dollars for a digital comic rather then 5 or 8 dollars for a physical copy.
And when would someone now pirate a comic? One reason is that you don't want to pay. At all, that's unfortunately always going to happen, but another reason is that there isn't an official buyable version of it. So, I'd actually hope more comics I like to read will appear for my comic book reader. I'd be glad to buy them!

The true and quite horrible idea that rises from this transition to the digital format is the one of pc intrusion. The time a book becoming only a direct to digital form and never being made into paper, editing will become the norm to reflect the times~ Tom Sawyer was actually censored by some asrehole to remove every "nigger" within and this is just the beginning! History books have already been turned into colorful one paragraph jokes in the public schools that only cover broad generic off hands to small sections of time! It goes digital, and good luck in finding that we even had a revolt in the 1700!
