I, personally, don't really care too much for awards shows, granted, I do think Inception was THE BEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN, but then, it's a movie that seems tailor made for people who can actually enjoy using their brains while they watch a movie.
Oh, and the Michael Cera meltdown was on the set of Youth In Revolt. I'd never heard about it...sounds like the crew were calling him crazy or something? I dunno. It was the weirdest actor freakout I've ever seen.

Great show guys. There was a technical problem though. The audio started acting up from the point you guys come back from the music break until about 38:24. I could only hear Gonzo, Roo, and K-Bo out of the left speaker and Cat out of the right.
I watched the Oscars this year, but for the most part I didn't care too much about who won and who lost. I surprisingly didn't even notice that Scott Pilgrim didn't get nominated for anything. I loved that movie and I remember thinking when I watched it that it sure to be up for something.
I agree with Cat that Howl's Moving Castle should have won over Wallace and Gromit, but I can understand why W&G won. I also agree with all the best picture snubs you all brought up.

Roo I feel we are two men cut of the same cloth. In our opinions on Table top games (here), and SNES era games (16-bit gems).
I Played MTG in my youth, dabbled in Warhammer 40k or otherwise and still play DnD with a group of friends. And I will tell anyone who will listen that Quintet made 4 of the best games on the SNES (Actraiser, Illusion of Gaia, Soul blazer, and Terranigma).

I too was disappointed with the Oscars, and agree with what one of the above posters mentioned about Scott Pilgrim easily being the most entertaining, best film this year.
Though, I have to say, I tend to tread in more film-geeky areas of the web, and you guys' opinion of The Social Network is the polar opposite to everyone I've talked to about it. Not saying that your opinions are wrong, but this is honestly the first time I've heard that opinion, and of what was nominated, I would have easily given it to The Social Network.
I tried as hard as I could to get that last comment out there without sounding smug and/or pretentious and/or vaguely trollish, and have a vague feeling like I failed. Meh.

Also, the year of A Beautiful Mind, at least in my view, was a single-movie snub. Amelie is one of my favorite films ever, and as an all-around production (particularly the amazing cinematography and dialogue) could easily contend with any of the films nominated, but was demoted to Best Foreign-Language Film. I'm probably on the minority on that one.

I literally can't listen to this. And it's my issue with some other podcasts, which is why I don't listen to those things on this site, because all I've tried had the same issue.
The background music makes it impossible for me to concentrate on the talking.
Why is there noise anyway? Is it necessary?
I don't know if it stops at some point, couldn't listen to this for very long.

03.06.2011 - 13:00 | BS Digital QI agree dude. Seriously, I love this podcast, but I have to skip some episodes simply because you guys have the music up WAAAY too high and I can barely hear anyone over it, or the times when for whatever reason the voices only come out of one speaker while the music comes out of both. Argh, why is the music necessary?
