Alright, so this has bugged me for awhile and I never really heard any in there before that I wanted to know the origin, but I heard Final Fantasy 4 remixes in there, and I am VERY curious to know the source, as that's my favorite game and soundtrack of the series.
Sadly, having never watched Lost or any interest in television, I have no real curiosity or questions about it.
However, I guess it would be good to ask, again, if the Doctor has played Suikoden yet.

I C WUT U DID THAR!
I really want to know if you planned this when you missed episode 18 on the list. Admittedly, it might have something to do with Lost, but I never actually watched it. My girlfriend was a huge fan, and if I recall, there was a few plot points that had to do with certain numbers.
I, personally, never had any interest in Lost. I can acknowledge that it's been huge and it's clearly good, but it doesn't strike my interest. The idea of constant flashbacks really turned me off. I prefer my stories to occur largely in the present, or close to it, with maybe the odd episode dedicated to events that occur before the present timeline. Moreover, the size of the cast was terrifyingly huge. I knew if I was going into Lost and by whatever circumstances, turned out to like it, I wouldn't be able to get out, and I, like so many men in their early 20s, am terrified of that kind of commitment. :P
However, I am a sci fi nut at heart. My dad was a sci fi fan and stories of space travel and technology are IN MY BLOOD! As such, I've "found my Lost" so to speak in V. I find the writing is really quite good and the plot is full of twists and threads without being totally convoluted, and for me, it is the first "Lost" type show I've watched. No show in existence has held my interest this long since Firefly. Now, I'm not sure if it can compare to Lost in the eyes of the Losties, but I certainly think it is a show worthy of my geeky, scifi-loving time.
On another note, I had previously considered watching the new Battlestar Galactica, as my old boss when I was working at a gaming cafe was HUGE into it. I kind of shrugged it off, honestly. I didn't see the appeal in a modern update of an old show. After all, Enterprise couldn't even hold a candle to Voyager for chrissakes. But after seeing V, a remake of a miniseries that was continued by another miniseries that was continued by a regular tv show, and after hearing all the accolades about it(BSG that is. I'm not sure how well received V is, to be honest), I might just have to drop some money on a box srt and dive into BSG.
Overall, in spite of my non-Lostie status, I really enjoyed this episode. I could really hear the enthusiasm that Cat and RolloT had for this and it was fun to hear them discussing it with such passion. And hearing the little tidbits about those mysteries that I'd always hear about from my girlfriend (who did, in fact, watch the show for its entire run) really kind of satisfied my curiosity on the matters. Knowing the actual significance of "the numbers" was actually kind of refreshing, considering how you can't turn left without seeing a pop cultural reference made to them these days. But yeah, now I'm meandering. Good podcast, guys.
On a final note, I've always wondered this, but what IS the song you guys open with each episode?

06.03.2010 - 04:26 | witheringsanityugh.. lost was such a huge let down.
dont set up a show about a bunch of cool mysteries, make a cop-out ending, and then just say "it was always about the characters!" BULLSHIT. most of the characters sucked. it was about the mysteries, and they fucked up the most interesting character, the man in black.
what they SHOULD have done is make MIB not be "evil" but just be the sympathetic character they made him out to be. that yes he does "bad" things, but he's not evil he just wants to leave the island. it would have been a nice mind-fuckery moment to have Jacob be the "bad" guy because he was trapping this soul on the island for no reason other than his mama told him to.
but whatever... they had plenty of time to write a good ending and they just didn't. fuck em

06.03.2010 - 09:46 | Richard WeskerSorry Gonzo, I would have given my copy of Batman: Child of Dreams to Cat at Anime Central, but I doubt she would have taken it off my hands. You're just going to have to come to grips with the fact that she's just not interested in reading it. Other than that, good episode, guys, but like Travis, I had to duck out before Rollo T came on, as I have not seen Lost season 6 yet.

06.03.2010 - 12:53 | GoodguyAGet ready for some rusty spoon castrating. They are definitely gonna do live action I'm afraid. Why would you expect any different? I hope at least they change the gimpy look if Shepard does in fact appear, but probably not since the entire thing about Shepard in the comics and such is that (s)he's gender ambiguous.

You guys made some great points on Lost. Although I'm one of those people who hate the "finish your own story" kind of guys (like in Baccano!) and would have preferred most of the answers to have been revealed so I don't have to question everything for the past 6 years.

06.04.2010 - 20:09 | DoctriniusI couldn't care less about Lost, but it's great to hear people discuss something passionately, and analyze in-depth the motivations of the characters and themes behind a series.
Great choice having Chris on, he's always a riot; I love that guy.
I'm surprised I enjoyed an episode about a show I've barely seen half an episode of this much, but you guys made it happen. Kudos all around.
