Re: Lost in SpaceI just hope the end credits won't give Doug epileptic seizures. I remember that almost happening to me when I saw it.
NC most wanted list:
1. Iron Eagle 2. Freddie as F.R.O.7. 3. Shuki Levi tribute 4. Robocop 3 5. Star Trek V
Re: Lost in SpaceThis is the only thing other than Friends I have ever seen Matt LeBlanc in.
This film has so many time travel plot holes. Gary Oldman was good though. Doug you are great and all, but how can the effects in the new King Kong be superior to the original?
Re: Lost in SpaceOh, I remember this movie! I actually really liked it as a kid.
Now it's sort of meh.
Re: Lost in SpaceI remember this...that is the one where the future mutated bad guy kills his past counterpart for some stupid reason.
And for some reason the whole Possible Futures thing seemed to fly over my head. Don't even get me started on consequences of possible future selves even seeing their past selves. And those spider creatures freaked me slightly...they were the only thing that was even remotely interesting in this movie. What else can I say? The story and script was bland, the cast seemed half-hearted about the film, the effects were okay but did not seem "real" to me and ultimately the plot just got to tangled up with itself. And as much as it pains me to say this, the robot with it's classic catchphrase of "Danger Will Robinson! Danger! Danger!" just could not bring this movie up from being sub-par in my book. And yeah, in case you have not guessed, the premise of this movie and the tv series was based on The Swiss Family Robinson. What the FUCK were they thinking????
Re: Lost in SpaceWhat I remember about the movie was the ridiculous rubber spacesuits which looked like super villain outfits deemed unworthy for Batman & Robin, (although seeing Mimi Rogers & Heather Graham in a skintight suits was no problem at all) and the humongous tonal shift halfway through the movie. What started as kind of lighthearted and fun space adventure turned into a boring, dark and kind of disgusting finale.
Re: Lost in SpaceI just finished watching this and wow, this thing is absolutely terrible. William Hurt seems to be the only person here trying to give some sort of effort. That time travel plot was just ridiculous and it also had one of the most obvious "twists" in film history. They don't simply foreshadow that reveal, they practically five-shadow it.
Spoiler! :
I expect Matt LeBlanc will be the butt of most of the Critic's jokes during the review. I don't remember seeing a protagonist who is as much as a douchebag as West is. And I have seen my fair share of douchebag protagonists. Lacey Cathbert and that yellow monkey alien thing will probably get on the Critic's nerves as well. Re: Lost in SpaceBelieve me, this whole movie is a MIND FUCK....sure it starts out normally (as normal as a Sci-Fi version of Swiss Family Robinson can get) but near the climax (if one would call it that
Those of you that know me know that I have my own catchphrase that makes me mad at movies that have no sense and little if none story or/and plot. "What a load of CRAP!" Seriously, this is how I feel about this movie. True, the killer spiders are cool and freaky and all but seriously, only one redeeming feature does not make a great movie especially if it is set up as an alien horror movie in that segment. I mean...why? What is the point? Maybe there is no point, they just wanted to sucker the audience in with a cool scene that has nothing (aside a half-assed attempt to make the villain more menacing) to do with the rest of the movie. The real thing that will really mess with the NC is the sudden lame ass finale where we all knew the clues were there but it was scattered throughout the movie like random stuff that has a big neon sign flashing SPOILER ALERT! Seriously, if the young son had anymore identifiable cliches to make him know his future self is himself and make his father know it is him as a possible future him (SEE? MINDFUCK!) then what is the point??? Sorry for ranting like that, but I needed to vent how stupid this movie is.
Re: Lost in Spaceyes a take on this would be good
Re: Lost in SpaceMan, Gary Oldman seems to have a knack for playing odd villains. First he was Zorg in "The Fifth Element", then he was Sir Ruber in "Quest for Camelot" (Which BTW, is also being reviewed by the NC), now this. Three different villains for three years in a row. I think I may rest my case when I say that these are his three worst villain roles. Now, his three best villain roles have to be his roles in "Dracula (1992)", "The Professional", and "Air Force One".

Re: Lost in Space
Then it's a Damn good thing you haven't seen "Ed", Let's just Say "Matt LeBlanc + Monkey + Baseball = Smarter Monkies throwing their feces at the TV Screen whenever it's on". TASTE THE RAINBOW, MOTHAFUCKA!
Re: Lost in Space
Ok, this was beyond painful and stupid...even if they did kinda add the films logo into this (look at the effects of the black hole, takes the same shape). Still, funny that these sets would be reused in Battlestar Galactica, more so since they use some of the music from the show (well, music it was based off).
Re: Lost in SpaceLost in Space...an overused title for at least 2 unrelated TV series & a movie.
Re: Lost in SpaceThis movie sucked!!! For the longest time until last year this was the worst movie I ever saw.
Re: Lost in Spacei have to say i like that movie but the cliffhanger at the end was bad because thay dident have a second movie as far as am know
Re: Lost in SpaceMatt LeBlanc is the worst actor in this movie, I like him in the TV show "Friends", but in this filmI thought as him as Joey from the show who does bad acting and never gets a role.
Re: Lost in Space
What are you smoking, he was amazing as Zorg! Zorg - 'Life, which you so nobly serves, comes from destruction. Look at this empty glass: here it is... peaceful... serene...boring. But if it is....' *flings glass off the desk, smashing it on the office floor* Zorg - '...destroyed!' *a small army of tiny cleaner droids exit from a hatchway and proceed to clear the smashed glass from the floor* Zorg - 'Look at all these little things, so busy all of a sudden. Notice how each one is useful. What a lovely ballet, so full of form and color. So full of..life! By that simple gesture of destruction, I gave work to at least fifty people today. The engineers, the technicians, the mechanics. Fifty people who will be able to feed their children so they can grow up big and strong. Children who will have children of their own, adding to the great cycle...' *Zorg makes an unpleasant smiling expression* ...of life!' I rest my case. 'Dey took ure jurbs!'
Re: Lost in Space
Well, in this film; it just looks like Joey trying to imitate Tom Cruise.
