"Suffering? You haven't seen anything yet."
-Jigsaw/John Kramer, Saw III

That applies to North especially since Doug had to watch the damn thing. This is yet another one people have been waiting for. Since I'm one of the people who requested the damn thing (I can't take credit for requesting something like North, there are other people who have done the same), I like to apologise for any possible suffering and uncomfortably while watching it.

North..... Hmmm... I only saw portions of it and I found it entertaining.

Let see what the Critic says about it... because I still think Elijah was and still is talented in a way.

For a sign on how bad this movie is, here's Roger Ebert's now famous quote.

"I hated this movie. Hated hated hated hated hated this movie. Hated it. Hated every simpering stupid vacant audience-insulting moment of it. Hated the sensibility that thought anyone would like it. Hated the implied insult to the audience by its belief that anyone would be entertained by it."

All I know is that Bruce Willis is wearing a pink bunny costume. This will not end well.

I'm not usually a fan of watching other people's misery (usually being the main word here) but I can't wait for this. And as for sympathy, nah! He had from Pagemaster to Batman to rest up, now is the time for pain and suffering.

But seriously, Bruce Willis in a pink bunny costume? What sick, drug-addled person thought that would be a good idea?

Damn, Rob Reiner's career really crashed and burned with this film. Before it he was doing the likes of This is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, Misery, and A Few Good Men. Then came North, after which his high points have been the thoroughly mediocre American President and Ghosts of Mississippi.

Agreed. All 7 of the movies Reiner did before North were classics. Ever since then, he's struggled to release even mediocre flicks...

First I was "wtf is North?" but after searching in wiki I noticed that I have in fact watched through it. They showed it here in summer after The Fellowship of the Ring came, I think, so I wanted to watch what Wood had done before LotR. If I remember correctly I founded it rather dull and stupid but not horribly bad, but then again it has been seven years ago and my memories are rather foggy

Hey Movie-Brat, when comparing this to Warriors of Virtue (which I just watched. First time since 2002), how bad is this?

Just as bad. Like Warriors of Virtue, it has plenty of stupidity, treats its audience like idiots and most of all, they have shitty scripts. But really, both films are really, really bad no matter how much you compare them. But then again, in both films, you could probably tell nobody was trying and they show.

The Critic posts new episodes close to midnight or right after it on Wednesday (yeah it's confusing but we get used to it).

The good news: I get to watch as Doug takes on the thing that ruined Rob Reiner's career and will probably laugh many times along the way.

The bad news: Within hours of the review being up, that bass-ackwards plagiarist NostalgiaCriticFan4 will have it up on his 'Tube page, AGAIN!

OK, I probably didn't need to reference this guy...besides, it won't really take away from the amount of kick-ass this review will produce.

How is that a bad thing? It's not plagiarism. I think it's better to watch the NC vids on youtube because the player on this site sucks.

I think you need to know the entire story behind this before you just go defending him blindly. This website is his livelyhood. He gets his money from the hits to his site and from people watching the blip videos. This is his primary, and possibly only source of income. However, this guy takes the video that Doug has posted, downloads the video(which I'm assuming means either he's a premium member or he uses one of those streaming-video-download things online), takes his copy and uploads it to YouTube where Doug does not get anything from, without even consulting with anyone on the site about it ahead of time. I'm sorry, but that is just wrong. As noble as I'm sure NCF4's intentions are, and as much as a lot of people wish that there was another outlet to watch the videos under that Doug can get his just pay for, that still does not give him any right to post the content.

Let me put it to you like this: How would you feel if you told people "Come and watch my videos. They are 100% free to watch and every viewer helps me make money that I can use to keep this video series going and to help me get through my life.", and then someone takes the very video that you made and posts it on a non-profit site that may be more popular, but it also prevents you from getting your just rewards? You'd be a little pissed, wouldn't you? That's everyone's big issue. If Doug DIDN'T rely on this site to generate income, him and the people at Channel Awesome and true NC fans wouldn't really care that much and would probably not give him any kind of hate at all.

Trust me, the last thing I want to do is hate on a true fan, especially if his causes are noble and he wants to get the site and the guy exposed, but there's a much better way that to just blatantly post content that he does not have permission to post.

OK, now that my rant's out of the way....WHERE THE HELL'S THE NORTH REVIEW, DOUG?!!

Exactly. Anyone that loads Doug's videos on youtube is taking money out of his pocket. It's just morally wrong.

Great review, funny as hell. I saw this movie when I was little, and I liked when Bruce Willis showed up, it was really the only thing that kept me watching it. Just waiting through the bullshit to get to the next Willis character. There was one big scene I remember very fondly, it had to do with Dick Cheny Jr. talking to North's parents about getting another son if North decides on another family or some shit. He tells them the kid's name is Hugh, and they proceed to say very dramatically... "We don't want Hugh." "He's not our son." But the little power monger had a tape recorder with him and then plays this tape to North, and what does it end up sounding like. Well, say it once. "We don't want Hugh." Yeah, Hugh and You, so damn close. Anyway that scene has always stuck in my head for some odd reason. That and when Willis says, "Balls stick to your legs like crazy glue." What a weird fuckin movie.

Ah, the cause of and cure for my insomnia. Well, at least one of those is true.

One of the most hated movies of all time for good reason. It seemed a lot more like a parody than an actual movie. At least the jokes, or sembemlence of jokes, were actually intelligent. In a groan inducing way.

So before I ramble, I'll just say that this was yet another GREAT review

I knew he was going to freak out at the ending!

Spoiler! :
That North had dreamt it all. It kinda bugs me what would've happened if it WASN'T a dream.

Though with the 'worst joke ever' gag, he could've had that laughing girl from Garbage Pail kids...but that's just my opinion.

Hanataro Yamada: "It's not that hip to say hip either."

I'll repeat what I posted in the comments yesterday.
I have actually seen this movie and this review was spot-on. This was the sort of vitrol I was directing at my screen at time.

The only bit I regretted not being mentioned was the hitman 'killing' North the first time and we are lead to believe he was shot in the head (his hat falls out with red substance... you know, for kids). But it's okay, it was just pasta sauce. Grrrrrr....
