Films you like but most people hateRe: Films you like but most people hateI like Accepted
If by some miracle I ever get the opportunity, I will re-declare that Pluto is officially a planet.
Re: Films you like but most people hateSome people seem to hate Return of the Jedi because of the Ewoks. Some people have actually said that it's inferior to the prequels. The PREQUELS. Did they just forget how awesome the rest of the movie is? And the Ewoks aren't so bad compared to pod-racers, Jar-Jar, RD-D2 hi-jinx, "funny" battle droids, "I hate sand", and NOOOOOOOOs.

Re: Films you like but most people hateI'm a pretty big fan of the new Disney's A Christmas Carol. True, it won't replace the Muppet's Christmas Carol as the best adaptation in my eyes, it was beautiful to look at, good acting, and a very entertaining movie.
Re: Films you like but most people hate
Return of the Jedi is the best of all the Star Wars films imo. Besides the ewoks arnt that bad. I agree with Lucas that they show you dont need power and might in order to destroy an empire. Last edited by MichaelM09 on Wed Mar 17, 2010 5:40 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Films you like but most people hate
While the Ewoks were admittedly a walking toy commercial, they are hardly the main problem I have with Return of the Jedi (which is indeed as bad as the prequels). With the exception of the scenes with the Emperor (and maybe Admiral Ackbar...for laughs), the movie is nigh unwatchable. The Luke/Leia/Han love triangle is so mishandled that it retroactively ruins that aspect of the previous two films. The "siblings" twist has to be the biggest contrivance in the whole series. Harrison Ford seems to be suffering from apathy more than the side-effects of carbon freezing, as he's phoning in his performance from beginning to end. Carrie Fisher was stoned the whole time, and it shows. Jabba's Palace belongs on The Muppet Show, not Star Wars. George Lucas lazily resurrected the Death Star, thus taking all potential tension out of the well-executed final battle. So yes, George Lucas introducing Teddy Bears to make more money off of merchandising is a minor complaint.
Re: Films you like but most people hateWar of The Worlds with Tom Curz.
The Butterfly Effect. IMO this is one of the most underrated flims of all time and I felt iy got bash because it stared Ashton Kutcher. I thought the story was really well told and I hate to say this but Ashton actully not a bad actor. Not Another Teen Movie: the only modern spoof movie that I actully thought was kinda of funny. I think I like this a little bit more because unlike Date Movie, Epic movie or Meet the Spartans it stuck to one genra of flim. Michal Bay movies.
Re: Films you like but most people hate
Yeah i liked this movie too.... didn't know people hated it What are you dense ? You retarded or something ? Who the hell do you think i am? I'M THE GODDAMN BATMAN !!!
Re: Films you like but most people hateI know people who both liked and hated Butterfly effect, I will admit i do not like Ashton so I am biased.
As for movies most people tend to dislike or find stupid but I like...taking away really cheesy horror movies cause its too many to name I really enjoy Hudson Hawk and The Pest. I noticed Last Days of Disco was brought up, I find Stillman's style where the actors say stuff to each other and nothing really happens to cause his movies to drag and the quoting of J.D. Salinger does get a bit over the top and it seems while it is supposed to be at least part satire, it is really only recongnizable to the people being satired. Madness Common sense is not so common.
Re: Films you like but most people hateWARNING: WALL-OF-TEXT
The Wizard: I admit, this movie does at times (read: most of the movie) feel like a widescreen Nintendo commercial, but I find it enjoyable. Plus, I wasn't born yet in the 80s, so it gives me some (if a tad inaccurate) insight into the Video Game Craze of the Mid To Late Eighties. I found the ending to be nice. Plus, it’s got flippin’ Fred Savage. (Though I did like him better in The Princess Bride High School Musical: Okay, I’m going to get TONS of flack for this one, but I found the first HSM movie to be harmless, corny fun. It’s not a very good movie, yes, but, again, for me it was just fun. I hate the franchise, but that doesn’t mean I can’t like the film. I didn’t see the sequels, but I’m planning on making a video review of the series…eventually…so I ought to some day. From what I know about them, though, they seem to be terrible. Full House: Not a film, but I DO like the show. Yeah, the “Full House Music” gets annoying, and it’s an easy show to mock, but it’s a very lighthearted show (except for when it’s dealing with DEATH!!!11one!! and other such very special episodes) and the comedy is funny to me. This was also probably the only review of the Nostalgia Critic’s that I had an issue with, mostly because of how little of the show he actually watched. The first season, for all accounts and purposes, is pretty stupid, and the finale is meh. He just seemed to gloss over most of the other things in the show. Stuff does happen in it! IT IS AN INJUSTICE THAT A PERSON ON THE INTERNET HAS CRITICIZED SOMETHING HE DOESN’T LIKE. [/rant] Pokemon: Well, if my avatar doesn’t make that immediately obvious, I’m a PokeNerd (a huge one when I was a kid, not so much of one now, but I still love the games and the show’s first season). Since this thread is about movies and I’ve already mentioned television shows enough, I’m going to say that I liked the first three Pokemon movies, especially the second one (otherwise known as one of the most requested films for the Nostalgia Critic to review; wouldn’t mind that, as I loved his review of the first movie XD). The films really went down the crapper when the fourth was released. I haven’t seen the fifth (which was only in my local theater for a week!), but I’ve heard it’s abysmal. Jingle All the Way: Not necessarily a good movie, but a nice family movie. With a terrible, commercialized message, mind you, but the antics are fun. Drillbit Taylor: Because who can hate Owen Wilson? The movie as a whole is meh, but Owen Wilson makes it worth watching for me. The next few, I’m not entirely sure if they have a lot of haters or not, but I sincerely doubt that they’re universally loved: Big Fat Liar: Again, FUN. Also, Amanda Bynes is ho—hillarious. With Jaleel White in a notable Urkel-defying role (literally). I also distinctly remember there being an awesome written review of the film on the site (in the articles section…cannot recall at this moment who wrote that one, though). Sky High: The word used to describe this one can be made a backronym for “Formula Used Nicely.” I’m not too sure how I feel about most of the ending, though. I Wanna Hold Your Hand: Have many people even heard of this one? Basically, a movie about a group of teens and their adventures in trying to get to The Ed Sullivan Show to see The Beatles as they perform on American television for the first time. Absolutely hilarious movie. From what my mom’s told me about the sixties in the U.S. at the time of The Beatles’ peak popularity, it’s a pretty accurate reflection of that time period (with Ed Sullivan’s speech to his crew at the beginning about The Beatles being on the show being like Elvis times ten being a great way to set the mood for the movie). Directed by Rob Zemeckis (BEFORE he fell in sweet, sticky love with motion-capture CGI films), with the future voice of Mandark, Bratty Bird Muppet Sibling #2 (or was he #1), and Know-it-all Kid (a character in a much more well-known and much more polarizing Zemeckis film) as a minor character who has a Beatles Cave in an abandoned hotel room. Help!: I guess this is more of a polarizing film than it is a hated one. The Beatles more-or-less admitted that it wasn’t so much a film as it was a paid vacation (they wanted a plot where they would travel all around the world, as if they couldn’t already, and go skiing…and smoke lots of pot, though I doubt that that was part of the script). It’s more-or-less a basic comedy with a mix of slapstick, wit, and music. It’s definitely not a great movie, by all means, but it’s great entertainment. Plus, it’s got the flipping BEATLES. And EVERYTHING they did was pure awesomeness undistilled, correct? (coughMagicalMysteryTourcough) EDIT:
Madness? THIS! IS! OVERUSED MEME! (kick)

I've actually never seen this, but I've seen enough clips to make this statement: ROYAL PAIN FOR THE MOTHERFUCKING WIN.
Re: Films you like but most people hateSpace Jam
Charlie and the CF The Spirit Planet Terror Halloween, by Rob Zombie The Ice Age series The Rush Hour series Bad News Bears remake School of Rock Latter-day Woody Allen films, like Curse of The Jade Scorpio and Small Time Crooks. I loathe Match Point with a passion, however. The Island (Michael Bay) Sky High X-Men Origins: Wolvie X-Men 3 The Scorpion King Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift HP: Order of Phoenix Austin Powers: Goldmember. In my opinion, the best of the three. SW: Episode II - Clone Wars (but I only liked it the first time I saw it) Gone in 60 Seconds Event Horizon (but I was 12 and just found all the blood super-cool) Scary Movie 1 and 3 The Lion King II Bambi II Kindergarten Cop (not sure if it's hated, though, but it's Arnie doing comedy, always a bad sign) Oh yeah, and the leading name on my list: ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS!!! I like both those movies. I really do. Honestly! I know you are, but what am I?
Re: Films you like but most people hate
Pretty sure that that's not a hated film...
Re: Films you like but most people hateIt's been posted on this topic a couple of times already, but I've always thought The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride wasn't nearly as bad as everyone made it out to be. Yes Kiara came off as a Mary Sue at times, and it wasn't quite as good as the first one, but it was still enjoyable never the less (in my opinion at least).
Re: Films you like but most people hate
When it came out alot people would not even see it because it stared Ashton. I guess people thought he could only play parts like Dude Wares My Car, Punk and that 70 show. I find that most of the people who trashed it did not even see it.
Re: Films you like but most people hateForgot to mention Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Every bit as good as Raiders and Last Crusade imo.

Re: Films you like but most people hateThe Matrix Sequels:
I acctually love all three films about equally (With the first being slightly better in my opinion). I understand why alot of people don't like them (and it's not always just "You just don't understand it" or something like that, people do have legitimate reasons). I think what helped alot for me was that I saw all these movies together, and fel like there was a bit more coherency then just watching them with big gaps inbetween them. I personally view all three films as one film and three parts (ala The Lord of the Rings) and that, I think, adds to the enjoyment of the films.
