Watchmen. Hanging out with nerds of all sorts it kind of hurts my nerd cred to admit it, but I really liked Watchmen. I found it as faithful to the original as you could probably get without making too many edits, Jackie Earl Haley was incredible as Rorschach, and as a huge Alan Moore fan, I was glad to see a faithful adapation to Watchmen after what happened to League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and V for Vendetta, which the same people who berate me for liking Watchmen didn't rage like I did. Sure, it was cheesy and used too much slow motion, but it sort of reconstructed the genre as it was so visciously deconstructed. Even without Black Freighter or Hollis Mason's memoirs, it kept the main story intact and didn't butcher the message.

Most fans of the series either hate this movie at worst or consider it their least favorite at best even though it's my personal favorite. I saw it in the theater and was totally blown away by the human sacrifice scene and the cart chase was on of the coolest things I've ever seen in any movie before or since.

How the hell can anyone think that "Temple of doom" can be BAD? It's awesome - granted scared the shit out of me when I was young, but still AWESOME!

You do agree, don't you, that the fourth Skull-thing-movie was a big dissaster with hundreds of plotholes already in the 10 first minutes of the movie. And physics didn't even excist in this movie. Sigh... Great series destroyed by a very shameful sequel! Apart from "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood prince" this "Indinana Jones and the Crystal Skull" is the worst waste of money on cinema I've ever made!

The 4th Indy movie never happened.

It seemed to me that the only reason this movie was made was so Karen Allen could say "Indiana Jones..." and punch him again.

The 4th Indy movie?! That only exists in an alternate dimension somewhere, and is forbidden in this world.

I think most Ulli Lommel movies might start falling into this category for me. I just finished watching Olivia and Zodiac Killer for Tranny Trash, and lo and behold, Olivia was a pretty good movie, and Zodiac Killer was so horribly done that I found myself genuinely entertained, much like I was with The Boogeyman and parts of Zombie Nation.

And man, I wish there was an Indy IV. That'd be so cool. Too bad Spielberg's plans fell through, I'd love to see Indy on a quest for more religious relics, battling Nazis and arcane magic and such. Total nerdgasm, that's what it would be.

Would Balto count? I remember that it didn't get alot of love in the thread for possible NC Episodes. Sure it's kind of bland at times, but I like it.

And half the stuff I see on here is far from hated.

Blues Brothers 2000. I agree that it's not as good as the original and plot doesn't really make much sense but there are many individual scenes and music I like.

Death Proof. I don't know if most people hate it but I do know that many people think it's Tarantino's least good film, which it's not.

Star Wars prequels. I like them. Phantom Menace, too. I have no problems with these movies and I think that all Star Wars movies are equally good (Clone Wars doesn't count because a) I haven't seen it and b) it's just a spin-off for kids) but of course original movies have their classisc status.

There might be more but I can't think of any right now

P.S. I have never understood the hatred against Jar Jar or how it's racist. Racist against who? I can't think any kind of group or race of humans (or animals) that could be associated with Jar Jar -kind of behaviour

Me too. I mean, they have flaws, but not NEARLY enough flaws to call them "bad".

Ditto for me, although I hear that the hate was more directed at the fact that people went in expecting a serious horror movie. (I feel really bad for this one girl who commented on my Jennifer's Body review on DeviantArt, too, because she took her friends to see it and they were so disappointed about not getting any real horror that they forced her to go to New Moon for revenge.) Granted, it's not a great movie, but it was entertaining in a wierd so-bad-its-really-fun-and-not-at-all-meant-to-be-taken-seriously kind of way.
So, yeah, life is pretty crazy.

I don't understand the hatred either. Sure he's very annoying, so what? There are far more problems with those films than Jar Jar. But I won't get into them. You enjoy them, I HATE them. Let's leave it at that.

* Lake Placid
* Ghost Rider
* Van Helsing

Some of the films that I like but most people hate are: Short Circuit 2, Fantastic Four, and The Black Cauldron.
(P.S. I'm pretty sure that The Black Cauldron is increasing in popularity, but when it came out, it had mixed reviews and it was a flop at the box office. But my word on it is: It doesn't have to make good money or have good reviews to be a good film!)

i will admit i do like date movie, not another teen movie and epic movie(which made me laugh at one point or two), scary movie films and other parody movies like "i know what you did last friday the thirtenth" i think i might be wrong with that title though(it had a scene that parodied the mentos commercial)

Spider-Man 3.

And Watchmen, I guess, even though I think everyone should have thought it was brilliant.

I just got around to watching, fully, Freddy Got Fingered and Gigli. Both are good, in my eyes.

Freddy Got Fingered is a generally humorous little movie for those not easily offended, and plays out as one big joke on Hollywood. It was a smart kick-in-the-pants from Tom Green that no one seems to take notice of, and that's a shame.

Gigli is just a good movie. It's no masterpiece, but it has a lot of subtlety in its looks at sexuality and behavior. If it weren't for the poor marketing and the public's problems with both Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, no one would be lambasting the movie. Many probably wouldn't like it, but it wouldn't win "worst of the year" or "worst of the decade" or any such nonsense. Hell, if it weren't for the studio interfering and forcing the director to rewrite and shoot/edit the thing to make it more of a romantic comedy, it might actually be a masterpiece.
