The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer CharityHello All,
I want to talk to you for a minute about something dear to my heart. In September, it will have been one year ago that at least 9 young kids committed suicide after being prosecuted to a large amount of homophobic bullying. Tyler Clementi, Seth Walsh, Asher Brown, Billy Lucas, and many others were simply the ones that made the news, countless others suffered the harassment in silence and many took their lives for feeling they could not make it and that they were completely alone in the world. I was greatly saddened by this fact and to this day I still wish there was something I could do to at least give these kids some insight into how they could be accepted and how they could go on to live awesome lives just like the one I live today. I dedicated an entire episode of my show "Top 12 Animated Hunks" to this cause. Ever since then I've wanted to do more. Then it dawned on me, I can do more. I have an awesome, talented, and caring group of filmmakers that I am connected to. Borrowing parts from both the Red Ribbon Reviewers, and Dan Savage's It Gets Better Project, I decided it was time our section of the internet did what we could to help these kids. I'm asking for all reviewers, Gay, Straight, Bi, whatever, to please help me in showing that life can get awesome for these kids and that we are in support of them being whoever they want to be. In the month of September, I am going to ask, much like RRR, that you do something in a video to show support. It can be anything from reviewing material related to this theme, giving out links to The Trevor Project or It Gets Better, sharing personal struggles, or just shoving in a message of hope at the end. Just at some point in the month show your support for the struggling GLBT kids, and indeed all kids in this situation. I will combine them all together, and try to show that there are people out there who want these kids around. Just because this isn't in the news anymore, doesn't mean it isn't a problem. Let's show these kids that the reviewaverse has their back. Because just think, if I had done the same thing after homophobic harassment, we wouldn't have a cute Arthur Knowledge in a gay little vest, potentially being drawn as an adorably shy pony. Re: The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer CharityArthur,
Is it all right if I post a text based review that I have been working on up here. I should mention that I wrote this for my own Collab but I beleive the subject fits here as well. If O'm allowed to post it, it should be up on Thursday. "Silence Steamboat Willie" - Spazzmaster

Re: The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer CharityI think I'll take part of this. I'll try to wait until after everything else I need to do is done, but otherwise I'll most definitely bring you something.
Re: The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer CharityI wouldn't mind putting in my two bits. Between 6th grade and the end of high school I really only had about 2 friends at the time. Two of the three of us never really fit in with any of the other group. So we were mostly mocked for being geeks the entire time, and normally sat out on our own. Things got hell of a lot better when I went to Madison, I found a sizable group of people with shared interests, and I'm even a staff member for a convention we helped make there (Geek.Kon now going on with it's 5th year). And even though I have landed on tough times again, even more so recently with one of my student loans coming back to haunt us, and my inability to find a regular job. I still have not given up on neither my viewers nor the chance to hopefully get this show to the point where I might be mildly successful and possibly use it to live off of some day. But till then the job hunt continues, and so does my show.

Re: The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer CharityI will certainly take part in this - it's a cause that should have something of this nature devoted to it, much like the Red Ribbon Reviewer videos, so I'll definitely start thinking about what to do for this.

I got picked on in the same fashion and though it clearly never effected me that much, it's still awful. Lemme know what exactly you need my Bunny powers for and I'll try to get you something.
Re: The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer Charity*Raises hand* I'm in Arthur, just as Kirbygal said if you can send me a reminder closer to the time I'll make sure I have something for you and this very worthwhile cause

Re: The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer CharityOmega sez:
Sure, why not? I was bullied the-hell-out-of, strangely not for being a lesbian, just for being spectrum (though didn't know at the time). I have to admit going into this, that my optimism for such things ACTUALLY stopping bullying and promoting diversity (neuro and otherwise) is very low, but I'll give it a shot. The entire basis of my show is a parable about bullying, I guess I might as well. Omega Geek, doing it wrong so YOU don't have to.

Re: The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer CharityI'll be happy to assist in this. Count me in as well.
Re: The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer CharityI'm in. Even if I can't get a video done in time, I'll still submit something. However, I will try to get a video for this done.
Re: The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer Charity
I think it's more about trying to reach out to the kids being bullied and cheering them up. Anyhow, count me in.
Re: The Rainbow Reviewer Project: A Reviewer CharityOmega: The best way to stop ignorance of any type in this world, is to make the general population know about it. Yes, we definitely aren't going to become the Martin Luther King of school yard violence or homophobic assaults, but we'll be another brick to help build the road to a better future.
Arthur: I figured I'd didn't even need to tell you this since we talk most of the time, but just for a shameless bump, I'm in "Do you hear that Mr. Anderson? That is the sound of inevitability... That is the sound of your Death."
