Postby Arthur Knowledge » Tue Aug 17, 2010 5:35 pm

Well, I might as well post mine up here. First some backstory.

Its really nice to see someone doing some work with a positive spin rather than negative.

Also if you enjoy geek movies you may enjoy my Adam West Batman recommendation

Keep it up

Needs more rage!

j/k

Great first attempt. I was a little bored but I blame that on me hating Star Trek.

Video number 2 is out, this time delving into a superhero movie with brutality on a huge scale as well as some classic characters. Batman.

I find your premise very interesting. I myself am still a bit of a novice in geek culture, having only been a part of it for the past three or four years, and I can attest to how overwhelming it can be. So many "must see" geek movies & geek TV to watch, not to mention comics, video games, and don't even get me started on the anime & manga. And God help you if you miss a single reference or your fellow geeks can suddenly turn hostile on you, pestering you until you watch it a best, or completely ostracizing you at worst. I think it's an original and creative move to make the fact that you're new at this part of the whole premise of your show, it'll help deflect the inevitable problems that comes from dealing with such an obsessive culture.

I like this series already. It's kinda...refreshing to see somebody delving into Geekdom for the first time in a community were everybody is some kind of super geek. Keep up the good work!

I'll admit I kinda know some stuff already. My folks tried to raise me with "high culture entertainment" (which somehow included Animaniacs and Freakazoid), but I snuck in stuff like Batman TAS or some Cartoon Network stuff from when it was good, and I eventually pressured them into letting me be a video gamer. However anything that doesn't have some highbrow importance or award worthy something or other I'm probably an outsider on, though the internet started to fill me in when I left for college.

Also in the next video I am planning on fleshing out the apprentice and the universe he lives in. I know he's kinda bland right now and I am aiming to fix that as soon as I can.

Nothing wrong with "high culture" (I could probably use some more), but I think having at least a little pop-culture helps round a person out. Welcome to the dark side. ;) And I approve of the Transformers shirt, because that's my #1 favorite fictional multiverse (followed by Doctor Who and Godzilla).

I also agree that there aren't enough "good stuff" review out there, but the bad stuff tends to be a better source for comedy. You're off to a good start, though.

I believe it's shaping up to be a decent series. You've certainly got an interesting premise, and honestly, like the others said, it is kind of refreshing to see somebody doing this for the first time instead of being part of it from the beginning.

That was a quite enjoyable couple of episodes. I really like the concept of taking a look at the cornerstones of Geek culture. You're a little monotone in your voiceover portions but you'll get better with practice. I'm definitely interested in keeping track of your reviews. ^_^

Well, after much delay, and the editing session from hell (I think I found out how to keep my software happy finally), my next review is finished. This time I tackle one of our favorite geek spectral movies with my new occasional co-host. I hope you like her as much as I like filming with her. Enjoy.

It's looking like you're gonna benefit from someone to bounce jokes off of. You didn't have any of those moments where you gave the camera an awkward look this time. I especially laughed when she kept shocking you.

Nicely done! The review was well thought out and entertaining. The "geek sensei" "geek master/apprentice" bit in the beginning was a bit confusing but overall I enjoyed this. Looking forward to your next lesson ^_^

(And I REALLY loved the TARDIS bit.)

Well it was gonna be clearer because I was going to have Cartoon Hero stop me from going to the dark side and then say he's sending the Sensei to me, but then his computer died and we had to work around it.

Thanks for all the comments guys, it means a lot.

Don't worry, I think I can come in and explain a bit with a cameo in your next video. Sorry about missing the last one, though--damn you, computer issues!

But all things considered, you pulled it off swimmingly. I liked the review, and the jokes were spot-on. And like everyone said, you and your shooting partner have very good chemistry. Excellent work.

I love reviews that also have a side storyline to it (especially with cameos!) And of course, you can't go wrong with Ghostbusters :D
