What is it worth? - Batman: Gotham Knight

Right now, you might be wondering; "Hey, this isn't a game. What the hell?" Well I say get over it. I'm allowed to write about a DVD if I want to.

For those that don't know, Gotham Knight is a DVD of 6 short stories, done in various art styles and by various directors, similar to the Animatrix. This was released just before The Dark Knight was released in theaters, and I for one was a little excited.

Everybody loves Batman. Everybody loves Christopher Nolan too, because he gave back Bats his dignity. And everyone speculates who will be the next villain or villains in the next Batman movie. I have read two top ten lists in this blog section alone, so I think you will be interested in this article about an interview with none other than Alfred Pennyworth himself, whom I think we can assume knows what is going on with the movie. So check it out here, and best regards until my next review. But who cares about me? It's Batman Time, baby!

alohah,

I'm TheJoker666. And I'm here for... who else? ThatGuyWithTheGlasses [AkA: Nostalgia Critic, Chester A. Bum, and Doug(?) ]

How am I here?: Well I was the biggest AVGN fan ever, then I saw a response of his to a "Nostalgia Critic" and so I looked at how this all began, and OBVIOUSLY it was for real (sarcasm) seriously, all the AVGN Nazis need to stfu, although i like James Rofl  (yeah, yeah, i don't really know how to spell his last name and don't really feel like looking it up) i thought it was for real (the first 2 minutes) but they all seem to have a good chemestry (in a totally heterosexual way) and I though it was stupid when NC asked AVGN to do a MOVIE REVIEW (because he already does them) and he'll do a Video Game Review, (because he DOESN'T) but then I finally saw AVGN's movie review, and I have to say, I wasn't that impressed, I mean it wasn't his best movie review, the wizard was better. Then I saw NC's GAME review, and I have to say I WAS impressed! It was one of the funniest ones I ever saw, (because once he relize theres a time limit, his face expressions, ROFLWMBHO! (thats rolling on the floor laughing, with my balls hanging out) but seriously, the look on his face is still burned an image in my mind, and i havent watched it in weeks, i am laughing so hard to this day just thinking about it, i probably bored you, now excuse me. ima go get some food

This idea just popped into my head and it won't leave me alone now.  What If...

The Angry Video Game Nerd AND the Nostalgia Critic did a review together.  I thought that would be really hilarious to see.  I don't really know if it is possible, because i'm not sure how far apart they live.  Or it could be like this:

In 2006, I made a movie called 'Superdude'. It was to be a homage/tribute to the Superman franchise. I was going to have my own vision of the man of steel and come up with an original origin story so that I could call this film my own. However, the cast could never meet, the crew split up, and we only filmed a few scenes. I decided to turn it into a short film and use all the footage we shot. It was a disaster. One of the worst movies I ever made.

This is my response to seeing the Dark Knight (3) yes (3!!!) times in theatres:

So my Dark Knight article got uploaded. For those of you who continue to insist on taking my articles literally, I have only this to offer:

The Joker takes time to smell the bloody roses...

I mean, really. Bebe's Kids as the #1 Greatest Animated Film of All Time? Shaq's Kazaam in any Top Ten List? Turning The Dark Knight into a musical? And some of you BELIEVE me when I say these things with a straight face? Yikes.

OK, I know that there's at least more than one of these already on the blogs, but as some will say there's no official sign up sheet, and even though I hate repetition in TGWTG.com's blogs I still feel like posting this as I feel mine offers a more opinion based list and less an excuse for discussion, and is more for parody than to be taken seriously.

When it comes to big blockbuster Batman movies, we couldn't give a damn about the caped crusader. Generally we assume it will be the same actor as the last movie or it's announced around the same time as the film, and in the end they always play the same character: A cocky millionaire whose voice suddenly and inexplicably becomes deepened when he dons a bat suit. As well as you can play that role, it honestly doesn't matter, because the show is always stolen by the polar opposite: The villains.

Think about it. In every Batman film, the film always revolves around the villain, one in particular. The original Tim Burton Batman? The Joker, played by Jack Nicholson. Batman Forever? The Riddler, played by Jim Carey. Batman and Robin? Mr. Freeze, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger (unfortunately). The Dark Knight? The Joker again, this time played by the late Heath Ledger. The exceptions would be Batman Returns, where the villain hold is more spread out, and Batman Begins, where it actually revolves around Batman, who'da thunk it?

So the GNN sketch has been released. It was cowritten by myself, with the other writer being Doug (That Guy With The Glasses). We came up with the idea after seeing The Dark Knight a second time, while searching for sketch ideas. A lot of it was improv work, later written down. Doug gave me the situation (Batman calls in, upset that the Joker is on a talk show), and we simply riffed. The purple M&M's thing was us trying to one up each other's lines.

Doug: He should want his own trailer!

Me: No, he should want his own crazy backstage list! Like a bowl of M&M's!

The Dark Knight Movie Review

..............holy !@%#

So far, 2008 has been a good year for comic book films. The first one of the year was Iron Man, starring Robert Downey Jr., Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges, and Gwyneth Paltrow. It had everything that a good comic book movie needs: good special effects, it was funny and entertaining at times, but tense when it needed to be, good overall ensemble acting (Paltrow was easily the weakest link, though), and most importantly, good action sequences that didn't go over the top. In fact, the majority of the film was driven through dialogue and not its action. Plus, Robert Downey Jr. excellent performance as the billionaire superhero Tony Stark helped to make the film even better. Overall, it was a very good film. While I haven't seen others such as The Incredible Hulk or Hellboy II: The Golden Army, everything I've heard about them tells me that they were good films as well. So, all in all, it's been a good year for comic book adaptations.

Then along comes The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan's highly-anticipated sequel to his stellar precursor film Batman Begins and the next in the line of comic book adaptations of 2008. I was lucky enough to not only see this film on the opening day, but twice: once with my family, again with my friends about three hours later. As you can imagine, the theaters were packed at both showings, but surprisingly, no one was being loud, annoying, or distracting throughout the entire film (something that unfortunately can't be said about the Wall-E opening day crowd).  So, giddy with anticipation, we all piled up in our theater seats, the lights dimmed, and the movie began (right after a couple interesting-looking trailers, including Terminator 4, 007: Quantum of Solace, and Watchmen). Upon walking out of the theater after the credits began to roll, I only had one thought in mind:

Hooooolllly shit.
