Finally an RPG for the Genesis that you won't want to use to prop up that coffee table leg.
The Sega Genesis was a very popular machine. It had a popular mascot named Sonic the Hedgehog. It also had a signature archive of sports titles that were far superior to the SNES sports games. The one genre that was severely lacking was Role playing. The Genesis lacked role playing like Fullhouse lacked writers. Yes- there were the 3 Phantasy start titles, but they were turn based. Sega needed a Zelda ripoff. That is just what they got with Crusader of the Centry. The game may get overlooked because of the fact that it is a Zelda clone but there is actual a lot more to this title.
(No, this is not a riding the coat tails blog. I don't plan for this to go a long with That Guy's review of Power Rangers the Movie.)
So today, well actually yesterday since it is after midnight, I went around to some resale shops to satisfy my collecting needs. The first store I went to I didn't purchase anything as the only thing with a price tag that I was interested in was in poor condition and the person working had no idea of any prices of the video games. The second and final shop I went to didn't really have too much in it that caught my eye in the way of video games. I decided to purchase two SEGA Genesis games since they were cheap and I didn't want to go home empty handed. One game was Skeleton Krew (which I guess if fairly rare, but not too expensive) and Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Movie. The Game Gear game was pretty good so I figured why not get the Genesis version? I actually did go to another store and find a SEGA Pico in box, but that's a story for later in case I ever decide to review it.
Later that night I eventually got around to testing that game. Turning it on I must say it was fairly impressive. The SEGA screen and copyright info were all made in the same fashion that the Power Rangers would teleport. The intro screen also had a pretty good rendition of the Rangers main theme. After enjoying the catchy theme and picking my ranger (you could choose from all of them, but they are all pretty much the same) I began the game.
The Sega Genesis. The glory days of when Sega and Nintendo were actually rivals. Today I present to a blog to compliment my video, The Top Ten Sega Genesis Games You Need To Play. Why not top eleven? Because unlike the Nostalgia Critic, I'm just too lazy to do eleven. What I hope to accomplish with the Blog portion is to give you more details then I can in a ten minute video. And, I hope to get you all to experiance a few games that were overlooked by the public eye.
