I like your review, just not the movie itself. I was so bored with it I had to skip to the end and that was no better then the middle of the movie!!! I'm sure there were great moments in it but I was seriously so bored I actually liked the beginning with the whole party scene that when it stopped there I said in my mind "Hey! Why'd the party stop??? This topic was just getting interesting...OMG! Why the heck are we running down these stairs???" And that was when it turned sour to me. Maybe there are those who liked it but I have to say I seriously did not get the movie. I gave it a shot, but it looked deeply bland in a depressing way and did not interest me enough to watch it all the way through. You'll have to watch the special features to get all the details, but basically this creature came from the ocean, where it lived for... a very long time... and it is actually just a baby, lost and confused, but most of all hungry. Yes, there is something at least 5 times bigger out in the ocean apparently, according to "The Monster" special feature explaining the idea. But I have to say I loved this movie, I loved Hud (The dude with the camera), and I love the camera style. Maybe not grade A quality film-making, but definitely good. This is one of those movies you can't truly appreciate until you've seen the filming process behind it, in other words the "making of" documentary. The fact that almost everything you saw in the movie was almost entirely first take, and the entire thing was literally filmed with one of the actors holding the camera the entire time.
