Am I the only one who actually liked that game enough to even finish it? >>;
Although for the most part that is true. There were parts in it that pissed me off but for some reason I liked the game.

No, Seraphim, you're not the only one. I had that game on the Commodore 64 and being an 8-year-old boy, I was easily entertained. So this game stands proudly on my "I can play this" list smilies/smiley.gif.

I had the PC version of TMNT, and it wasn't just hard to beat, it was completely impossible!

No, seriously. I have proof:
http://www.scary-crayon.com/games/tmnt12pc/

I finally did beat it with the cheat code mentioned on that page, though.

I could get all the way to the room just before Shredder...then "die" (and lose Donatello) at which point I'd give up, since you really can't get through the TechnoDrome without Donnie.

This game wasn't particularly all that difficult. Yeah, some parts sucked, but all it takes is a couple of tries before figuring out what to do.

.........and yet so ingenious. Describes this game perfectly. I slaved away at this game for so long as a kid, half the time I would just stare at the screen trying to figure out just what the hell was killing me. You fight everything from a floating pair of legs to a guy with a chainsaw...........didn't remember him from the show.smilies/sad.gif

wrong perception.
written by gasto5 , October 05, 2008
Since the AVGN criticised this game, I didn't understand why, its not a crappy game, Konami can't make crappy games, it is not coded into their brain.

I played the game as a kid and enjoyed it. If you were so lame as to crave suicide by running directly to a road-roller, than there's no activity but to blame yourself.

Varied gameplay, action packed, and 4 characters to choose from, a lot more than the games at that time offered.

Yeah, I know, difficult as hell, and almost impossible last level. But still enjoyable.

The Nerd was most likely being entertaining over being serious in this game. Yeah, there were difficult parts, but it's easy to figure them out. One point I make is the underwater portion. When you're in the seaweed, wait until the very last moment and switch turtles. It makes things much easier.
Another "secret" (I use that term loosely) is to enter, exit, and re-enter the sewers to keep getting pizzas to build health.

I think it's a fun game and people are being WAY too hard on it.

Yeah, that about sums up that game.

I remember playing (or torturing myself with) that game when I was a kid. I never got past the part where you have to swim around and defuse bombs in an inexplicably electrified coral reef. I'm to this day convinced there is no game past that part because it would take some kind of sentient computer to have precise enough control to both beat the timer and not slam into a wall. ...Or liberal use of a Game Genie. Either way.

99 Scroll Trick
written by Narrator007 , October 06, 2008
Those final stages were indeed extremely hard. The only way I was able to beat them was by using a trick in the sewers of stage 3. One of the first places you can grab the best power-up weapon in the game, the Scroll, is near the end of a sewer section, right before the ladder leading back out onto the streets. Grabbing that power-up gives your turtle 20 Scrolls. But here's the best part.

It respawns. Just go up the ladder, out onto the street, then jump back in the manhole, and the Scroll is BACK, baby!! Repeat 5 times, then switch turtles. After 20 trips, ALL 4 of your turtles will have 99 Scrolls, and as long as you are careful to switch back to your regular weapons and only use the Scrolls when you need them, you should have enough to make it to end of the game. This makes the Technodrome MUCH more beatable.

Boomerang Trick
written by Narrator007 , October 06, 2008
Here's one more trick that's useful before stage 3. The Boomerang power-up (which gives 5 Boomerangs per box, I think) is not only the only special weapon that can be re-used, it can ALSO be shared.

After you throw each Boomerang, the number you have left decreases by 1, but as you catch each 1 on the return flight, it increases by 1 (you had to be careful that you DID catch them, tho, as if you jumped or ducked they could fly past you and be lost forever).

Here's the trick to sharing this special weapon. Select the turtle who has the Boomerangs, throw up to 3 of them, then quickly switch to the turtle-select screen and SWITCH turtles. When you come back, the Boomerangs will return to the new turtle. This works even if your other turtles do not have ANY special weapon yet. So if Donatello grabs 20 Boomerangs early, you can give 5 each to Leo, Raph, and Mike (or 10 each to 2 of them if the others have Shurikens/throwing stars to use up first).
