This is a video of 12 things that piss me off about Online Forums. Third in a series called The 12 Fuck You's. Why 12? Because I like to go one step beyond ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.
If you agree with this video, then you need to show it to people who break these rules of the 12 Fuck You's Of Online Forums! Post this video in a forum you know and help spread the message so we can all stop this bullshit!
FU #1 Forum Trolls are the worst kind of scum out there; they just sit at their computer all day, flaming and swearing at every living person that has a different view on things than their own. Why can't trolls talk with others like normal people? It's like forum trolls have 24 Terets or something. I mean wow, acting tough and intimidating on the internet, your parents must be fucking proud.
FU #2 People who are closed minded and aren't open to new ideas and theories. Did you know that a lot of today's proven facts were considered ludicrous back then? So wake the fuck up people, knowledge changes everyday, so either be open and get with the times, or get left behind and live in the stone age with the rest of the retards. "I believe the Earth is still flat durrr." I mean these type of people have a stick shoved so far up their ass that they fail to realize that there is other knowledge out there besides the ones in that thick skull of theirs.
FU #3 People who always have to be right or have the last word on a forum debate: I mean come on, wtf are you some universal guru that knows everything? I mean sometimes you just gotta accept the fact that you were proved wrong or that you lost. Like Socrates said, the wise know what they don't know, the wise know they know nothing, and the wise keep their fucking mouths shut!
FU #4 Forums that have some sort of ranking system with their users: I mean who the fuck cares? All the ranking system shows is who is a bigger nerd and wastes more time in the forums than other people. How about giving us an "I don't give a fuck what my ranking is" ranking?
FU#5 Unrelated topics in the forums: Why is it that in every forum there is always some ASS CLOWN who starts a religious debate or a conspiracy theory debate, even though the forums have NOTHING TO DO with those subjects. Come on, we hear about conspiracy theories and religious debates enough, so none of us want to hear it! Save the whining and bitching in a forum or group that covers those topics, or better yet, do everyone a favor and SHUT THE FUCK UP.
FU #6 To the people who post porno pics, pics of almost nude girls, or inappropriate pics in the forums. Well wtf? We already have them on porno sites, so we don't need to see that in the forums! These people think their so clever by posting them, well there about as clever as a cave man lighting himself on fire, just to get attention.
FU #7 Spammers and hackers in the forums: Ok who the hell takes the time to hack and spam forums and groups? Well a lot of people apparently, but what's the point? Nobody gives a shit about their spam advertisements, and the only thing hacking the forums is gonna do is piss everybody off. So spammers and hackers get nothing from doing what they do, yet they continue to waste their lives doing their thing, how fucking pathetic.
FU #8 People who write pages and pages of writing in a single reply or topic in the forums: I mean who the fuck in their right mind is actually gonna read all of that? Its like geez it's so long the forum topic up should be broken up into chapters already because its too frickin long! Keep topics concise and straight to the point, and if your gonna write that much, write a frickin book, and mail it to someone who gives a shit!
FU #9 When we work really hard to put a forum topic together, and guess what? Nobody replies to it. All I can say to that is what shit load of fuck.
FU #10 When users take the forums too damn seriously, as if the forums were their life or something. Get a grip on reality people, online forums should be taken as serious as Britney Spears and her stupid fan boy Chris Crocker.
FU#11 Repeated topics in the forums! This is what happens where there is no search bar feature in the forum! It's so annoying when a user posts a new topic that's already being discussed. Just take a few seconds and look around for the topic, and if its not there, then you can post your new topic! If you do find the topic, then join in on the discussion! The last thing the forums need is 10 posts by 10 different people all asking the same question or talking about the same subject. But really, all forums need a fucking search bar to prevent this crap from happening.
FU #12 When the people and users in a forum just can't get along with each other.
Hey! I sit at my computer all day, arguing with others! Though... I do it because I love a good debate... and I accept other ideas. Ok, nvm.
Ugh, I so relate to #9. I just did a Top 15 NES Games blog/column (whatever you wanna call it) and it's gotten at least 100 views, but no comments. I posted it in another place and it didn't get any comments on it either. I guess I was right and absolute and I'm flawless, right? Since no one disagrees with me? Yeah, thought so.

Your right a lot of people watch and browse without commenting. A lot of people would rather remain anonymous, are too afraid to speak out, or maybe just don't have the attention span to finish watching a video or reading a sentence.
They say that for every commenter there is 11 lurkers (people who browse without commenting). I'd have to say that stat has probably increased to one commenter every hundred views, which sounds correct right?

I must admit that I don't comment every video/text I browse. But that's simply because all the material I see/read just doens't inspire me to do so. This usually happens if I can't relate to the message, said via vid/text or if it's not worth commenting: there are many assholes out there who are willing to waste our time with bunch of flaming goat piss in order to get attention on the internet.
My own blog on this site is a good exaple of this (though I don't intend to waste anyone's time through missleading and deception): over 1000 combined hits and only 5 comments. But that's okay. As long as people (only few of them ^^') are are reading my thoughts, that's good enough for me. And if even fewer of them are willing to leave a comment, that's a great plus.

I agree with Cultcon, though. Sometimes some posts just don't inspire people, but that's fine. The main problem is when someone (anyone) spends hours on their work (it took me four days to finish my list of Top 15 NES games) only to get only one comment or NO comments period, it discourages them. Especially if they're new and there's some other post that has a bunch of people saying, "I plan on making articles based on "this, this, and this." Then get followed up by dozens of comments. It's discouraging.
This especially true here when there's no way to check previous work unless you check out the person's profile. If you can't do that and that person's blog/column/whatever is lost from the front page, then it makes them feel worse. The one thing they spent days on just suddenly gets lost in a single day.
This is coming from personal experience and from what I've seen of others.

I don't really like this idea of ranting. I think your judgments should be more justified rather than going directly to the points. Give more reasons why people should agree with you and for example, FU number 9, it's rather based on your personal experience on forums (depends what kinda forum you're on) and who your audience is (voluntary bias).. And I don't think swearing isn't the best way to persuade the audience.
This is my sole opinions, so no offense taken please.

Glad to see you thought this through. Not many people would think of combining number 9 and number 10 together so closely.
In advance, sorry if my comment reply isn't that long as some of the other comments, but I just say what needs to be said and find it is more shorter then I realise.
Anyway, back to this. I am glad I am not like any of those people on Forums. I just respond/make comments accordingly and leave it at that. All that is left to say is that I enjoyed this one and the others and can't wait for more. Though I didn't like the music...maybe because I watched your other ones that had no music. I felt the music was slightly loud and at some points at the start drowned out your voice. But, aside from that, great video.

No offense taken! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, as long as they can express it without flaming and bashing.
Well all of my 12 Fuck You Videos are based off experience, which makes me very knowledgeable in the subjects I do. As stated in the video, I run a forum with nearly 20,000 members in it. Its tough being a moderator, I so sympathize with the Administration of this website.

I definitely have to throw my hat into the ring of people who agree with number 9. I'm always looking for ways to improve my writing and my columns, and try to get people involved, but so far, nothing's worked out quite how I hoped. I think its probably just because I'm new around here, and don't have the name recognition that guys like Rollo T and Coldguy have. I did have a couple of big success stories, though. My Final Fantasy column made it into the Awesome Blog of the week, and my Tomb Raider one got featured on the front page as a "Best of Blogs", and that was just after I'd started up, so I guess somebody up there likes me.

We should make #13, the people who seem to do these aforementioned acts and get away with it while more innocent ones are blamed for lesser actions.
Also, rep systems. They are just waiting to be misused either way and have no point but to popularity contests.
