Even though I enjoyed this film as a kid, I still pondered on the plot holes in the movie, as well as the skydiving scene (least the Chilli's song kicked ass). Awesome review.
I remember when I saw this I was not only scarred, I was disapointed...that's probably not as bad as scarred, but I still felt let down, as I felt George Clooney, one of my favourite actors, could have been a great Batman, dark and formiddable but also a homage to fans of the old Batman TV series.
Awesome review, I was laughing all through the puppet scene.
I love the way in which you don't really get much of an informative review in the video, instead it's just comedy, yet you can sum up your opinion of the movie in the last few seconds. It's weird, yet strangely effective : P
I haven't gone out to see the movie yet, but from what I've heard and read the concepts are just getting more and more ridiculous. But, if it's entertaining, then it's all good.
Just makes me wonder what nostalgia injected movie will be overhyped next. There's G.I. Joe coming next year. The anticipation could not be greater. @_@
My name would be Graham. My real name is Prodigs. How I got that username? Do you care? I hope not. There are three things (that aren't people, food or places of interest) in life I hold dear to me and those would be manga/anime, J-rock and Satire/parody. It's a bizarre mix, they all relate to one another, yet, with particular emphasis on the third subject, remain distant from one another.
I consider myself a casual anime/manga fan. Meaning I'm the guy who likes to get his feet wet in the annual trip to the Japanese entertainment beach when it's windy and cold as hell, but one who doesn't go swimming, who instead would rather sit back and actually read a manga volume than actually get involved in the mess that is cosplaying, chanting or doing anything that is just on the boundary of an indecent public act. There's a metaphor or two in that paragraph. See if you can find it. That said, I try viciously to get more people into the habit of watching or reading it. I don't try to be agressive (really do) and I understand if people would rather stick to what's on their TV (really don't), but I just feel they're missing out. It's a fantastic form of entertainment, that appeals to all ages and offers up something you'll likely enjoy. You just need to talk to someone who knows what sucks and what doesn't. Talk to any usual anime goer and you'll bore yourself to death with Naruto, or talk to any girl who's a hardcore manga fan and you'll be returning her borrowed copy of Eerie Queerie with a horrified expression on your face.
There's not much to talk about when it comes to J-rock. It's rock music. And it comes from Japan. What else do you need to know? The only major differences is the language barrier and some of the more culture based forms of rock, like Visual Kei. The language barrier shouldn't really be a turn off. Lyrics make up one of the five most important things in a good rock song, the others being guitar, singing ability, bass and drums. Considering most of the popular rock music in the western industry gets popular because the lyrics are either catchy or depressing (I always thought that's what seperated pop from rock -_-), maybe that's a given. Basically what I'm getting at is if you can deal with the lyrics being in Japanese, you'll get some good music.
Satire/parody is probably the reason we're all at this site. Nearly everything from the guy and his associates parodies a film, book or TV show, and we love it. It speaks the truths about the flaws in said film, TV show etc. without meaning any direct offence to it (unless it's a god-forsaken shit hole like Batman and Robin). It's for people who watch a film and remember it's not an emotional journey worth crying over, but who remember it's a production with actors, a director and a written script. So those who moaned and bitched on youtube about Teribithia in 5 seconds being disrespectful for parodying a fictional child's death, look for the logic. In fact that's the annoying thing. With the pure halarity that is parody and satire comes the annoying cancer: Political correctness. If something makes a light parody of religion and every comedian and critic laughs at it, some man by the name of Retard Mc'Spackypants will gather his group of brainless followers and try to shield us from it, all the while loving the attention the media is giving him. They could just as easily try to not watch said parody, but no, followers of PC don't believe in free will remember?
Well that's pretty much a lengthy outlook on my likes, dislikes and beliefs. As you may have guessed, all blogs from me will revolve around these three things. I hope you'll enjoy it.
Also for those curious my current Avatar is the brilliant Japanese Visual Kei Rock band Girugamesh, and as a semi-regular thing I have three on going types of blogs: Anime reviews, Top 6's and a rant series entitled 'Things the world doesn't need'. I also use the word firkin in nearly every entry. Look for it. ^^
