Mortal Kombat was good, for its time.
Looking back it had alot of flaws, other then the ones mentioned here.
I love Christopher Lambert, but he is NOT Raiden, which of course leads to the question, 'well, who would YOU cast as Raiden?' and honestly... I got nothing.
Reptile was one of my favorites in the game serries, back when he looked the same as Sub-Zero and Scorpion, must have had something to do with the color green and my class' pet iguana. Point being, his fight, though entertaining cause he seems to be the only character keeping the generic Liu-Kang on his toes, (seriously, am I the only one who rejoiced when he met his supposed end in MKA?) was, indeed VERY pointless.
And Anialation was even worse. I would love to see the Critic be driven insnae by that movie, they tried to cram all the MK3 characters in, then killed them off after a few seconds(Johnny Cage?), or just ignored them, Nightwolf anyone?
Halarious
Loved the Jamacian joke.
I got into Pokemon (the game) because my brother pestered me to no end, he had red, and wanted me to get blue. I was on a family trip, at the time, read all the Star Wars books I brought along, and was bored.
But hey, I'll admit, the whole concept interested me, was like a more advanced Tamagotchi (review THAT trend Nostalgic Critic!!!) And then I watched the show, and you know what? It was entertaining, I'll gladdly admit that.
Of course I now know that 4Kids is the root of all evil and wonder what the original anime or manga was like, but not currious enough to research it.
The one thing that never made sense to me was why Ash never banged Misty.
I'm surprised you didnt make any referance to the connection with the Anihiem Ducks and the D2 Mighty Ducks, which then spawned a Disney animated Cartoon show, which, theoretacly has Gozlen from Darkwing Duck
Come to think of it......... the entire Mighty Ducks Franchise could be a Nostalgic Critic Episode.
The Sandlot was awesome, Mighty Ducks (1) was great. Rookie of the year was entertaining, odd thing is that kid would go on to American Pie, and Angels in the Outfield was...ok.
Air Bud needs to be put down, and no more movies about his puppies. Say..... Air Bud is anothe NC episdoe too
The first two arent exactly 'Works of Genius" but in comparison, they are often considered to be. I didnt care for Returns at all.
Personally I liked Batman Forever when it came out, but a lot of that had to do with it being the newest Batman film since Returns, and just seemed more lively. But what sold it for me was O'Donnell as Robin.
No, I am not an O'Donnell fan, and didnt see any of his movies prior to Forever. But I liked how he wasnt a 8 year old sidekick, and I loved his Robin outfit, the black cape with a yellow inside (yes I know it debuted on BTAS, but now I could see it in action.
Looking back, Jim Carey would have been a better Joker, and Tommy Lee overacted (though I dont think he did it on purpose) Val Kilmer cant scare anyone, and Gotham looks like Michaelangelo, on acid, playing with Sims.
Batman and Robin though, I wasnt too thrilled about it when I saw the trailer, and I can honestly say I didnt like the movie when I first saw it, constant costume chnages and more Mike on acid.
I only liked 2 things about B&R,
1) Clooney actually looks like Batman when he wears the cowl, like from the pages of the comics.
2) I feel the trailer was very well put together specially
Bruce - I'm asking you, friend, partner... brother!
(fades to Batman)
Batman - Will you help me now?
Yes, it actually doesnt flow like that in the movie, but hey, thats what trialers are for.
This was one of those Cartoons that I cant explain why I liked so much as a kid. I guess i liked the American guy with a fire ring. But the theme song was cool until the "we're the Planeteers..." part.
I can honestly say I never thought about recycling one bit even after watching this show.
