My blogs range from little notes that keep me optimistic, to my views on life, to random thoughts I have while driving home. You never know what I may write next.
In light of the new Dark Knight movie, I decided to rank the top 10 best and worst super hero movies that I have seen. Keep in mind, there are plenty ...
Here is a thought. The speed limit on the freeway is 65 mph. The fastest the average driver should go is probably 80 mph. So why do companies make car...
Something I have noticed in life is that a lot of people feel this need to prove themselves to others by showing how hard they have had it. Like they ...
To laugh is to risk appearing the fool. To weep is to risk appearing sentimental. To reach out for another is to risk involvement. To expose feelings ...
JinLee86: Yea, showing a camera or picture get ruined would have been cool. Or even have someone mention the idea of turning him in and having the rest of the people say "no, he just saved us" would at least be nice. This scene just didn't phase me too much I guess and I was over all able to over look it. Am I biased because I like Spider-Man? Yea, probably. I grew up on the guy and it's pretty hard to get me to hate one of his movies. Well, until Spider-Man 3 came along. Why Raimi, why?
And I dont really blame you for comparing my review to James. I'm sure if someone said something similar to a review I saw, I would figure they were quoting them. I just think both James and I made the same observations. But I assure you, if I quote something, I give credit to the one who came up with it.
JinLee86: People didn't exactly FIND out spider-man identity, they just saw what he looked like. Example, if I were a super hero and you saw my face, you can't really tell people who I am unless I was someone famous. Otherwise all you can say is "yea, he's a guy with dark parted hair and a goatee". That is a vague description. Anyone could have probably guessed that. As for my review being inspired by Cinnemassacre, I have not seen any of his reviews. You don't have to be a genius to realize that Jim Carrey was just being his normal goofy self. I do agree Scarecrow was not accurate, but he was hardly in Batman Begins. But I assure you, Cinnemassacre had nothing to do with my list.
Dove: By "Hulk" I mean the first one that came out. By "Incredible Hulk" I mean the one starring Edward Norton. And yes, I agree Dark Knight would not be as good if it let the audience laugh. I totally understand the Batman comic series is a much darker tone than the sarcastic Spider-Man series. But I'm personally a comedic type of guy and I like to have some laughs. That's why I enjoyed Spider-Man 2,
Film Brain: Thanks for the correction on Guillermo del Torro. I took care of that right away. As for Steel, the Corman Fantastic 4, and Catwoman, I have not seen those movies. I knew those were bad, so I did not bother. These are just the movies I've seen.
Shingouken: It's not weird if you enjoy X-Men Last Stand, Dare Devil, or Superman. I actually kinda like Last Stand, but there are plenty of things I can personally find that make it not as good as the previous ones.
Lazypug: There are no problems with the list. This is simply my personal order of best and worst, not the one I think everyone should follow.
I have some old cartoon ninja turtle VHS tapes. "Number 2" is on one of them. I had recently been thinking about this drug talk and how stupid it was. And of course, I remembered "I'm not a chicken, you're a turkey!" When I think about it though, if you pulled that on someone, they probably would be baffled and shut up because it's such a stupid and confusing come back.
To anyone who says "why isn't Ghostbusters on here?". Technically, that should not count as a tv theme, seeing as Ghostbusters began as a movie, and the song was on there too. If they had a different song, maybe. But lets face it, do you want to live in a world without the ghostbusters song?
I definitely agree that Norton did not get enough screen time to really do much. He is one of my favorite actors and I love his work, but I was so dissapointed we didn't see more of him. Blonsky on the other hand was amazing and really kept my interest. Until he turned into Abomination, then he was just boring.
Overall, my main complaints about the new movie are that the story seemed a bit choppy at times. We are introduced to a way to stop him from transforming, but then 5 minutes later he decides Hulk is needed. It would have been much better if he could stop transforming earlier, has the military keeping an eye on him and threatening him if he does turn, then he has to make the tough choice of turning into Hulk to save people. The "cure" or whatever you want to call it would have been much more effective if brought up earlier.
My main complaint about the old movie (I have not watched it in a long time, so I don't remember a lot to complain about) was the final fight. It was so dark that I could not tell who was winning. Also, in the original, I did not like that a good solid chunk of the movie was just him running away for a half hour. The fight scenes in the new one were much more satisfying, especially when he ripped the cars to make knuckles. What I HATED was the end of the fight. It seemed anti-climactic. Just suddenly he gets the upper hand on the bad guy? There was no strategy he used or trap he set. He just suddenly started kicking ass.
In the end, the best parts of the new movie were Tony Stark at the end (I have BIG doubts about the Avengers movie) and the fact that Hulk said "HULK SMASH!".
I agree, it's just a bunch of little kids (or people with the IQ of a little kid) who have not learned manners or see that their is such a huge difference between the two. I just don't see why people can't like two things instead of choosing sides. Example, the new Sweeney movie. There are so many people who say "OMG! JOHNNY IS THE BEST!" or Johnny is a fag! It's all about George Hearn!" Nobody can just appreciate both their performances.
Long story short, good theory.
As a writer, that seriously pisses me off. There are only so many excuses you can get away with in certain stories. We don't question the plausibility of Peter getting powers through a radioactive spider bite, or how the Green goblin came to be. We accept those. But "we don't have to explain it, it's magic" That's just a slap on the face to anyone with a brain. Sounds like he just dug himself into a deep hole and this seemed like the easy way out. VERY disappointed.
