Other catchy theme songs:
Captain Planet
Darkwing Duck (personally I think that is the catchiest, topping Duck Tales)
Pokemon
Samurai Pizza Cats
Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM)
But I suppose you can't fit them all when you've got only 11 places! But man, I had forgotten about some of those, like the Carmen Sandiego one...great song, that.
I remember Robot Chicken's parody on that one where she's wrecking everything in the kitchen with a frying pan. That was a great sketch on their part.
I'm surprised there were no references to "Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue" in this!
The funniest thing is that there was STILL more to that ending...the mother could only be brought back for one day and then would've died. This 5-second movie was actually CUT DOWN from what it could have been.
Hrm, game requests. Well, it would be a little boring for NC to review games the Nerd already has, which throws Superman 64 out of the category (as he announced in his latest review that he would review it). I would suggest either the Atari E.T. or Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.
Funny video, though I found it strange that you hated the ending theme, which I thought was actually the best part of the show. I felt the show wasn't that bad, though, if you ignored all the environmental bits.
How easily they manage to win over crowds is silly, though. You listed some examples, but nothing holds up to how in an episode one guy manages to with just a speech convince an ENTIRE MERCENARY ARMY to stop fighting for the bad guys. What's interesting is that the violence and other things (they actually said "unprotected sex" out loud?) the series got away with is the kind of thing that people now complain about networks censoring.
The ruler bit reminded me of You Can't Do That On Television. Man, now THAT was a great show.
Oh man, you really took me back. Nickelodeon had a lot of stuff back then that involved slime or pies or something. Double Dare was the most prominent example, but What Would You Do had plenty of that also, and I remember even Figure It Out had that to some extent; midway through it some secret action would be announced to the audience (but not to the panelists), and any panelist who did it would get slimed. If someone didn't do it the host usually tricked them into it, as a randomly selected kid in the audience would win a prize if one of the panelists got slimed. I remember occasionally they had the jokey "being a panelist", meaning that they would all instantly get slimed.
And, of course, let us never forget You Can't Do That On Television. Technically it wasn't really a Nickelodeon production (it was made in Canada), but DARN was that a good series. You should review it sometime! The whole slime falling on people if they say "I don't know" was a trademark of the series. Strangely, my parents didn't want me to watch You Can't Do That On Television...looking back, I can't see what there was to object about it. Most likely all they knew of was the name and assumed it was some kind of risqué show or something. I wish it would come out on DVD...
Hrm...I did think the third Bleach opening was much superior to the first (though the screaming at the end was kind of annoying). And to be honest, while I liked the anime, I didn't really like either of the Death Note openings. The music during the credits, on the other hand, were both awesome. And of course, it's no surprise that Eva's opening was #1. I don't think Eva is the best anime ever, but I do think it's a great anime.
The biggest complaint I have with this is that a lot of times you don't really let people hear some of the openings. The music's there, but it's so quiet you don't really get to hear it. For example, in your segment on Lucky Star, while you see the visuals, you barely hear any of the music so it's hard to know (without looking it up ourselves) what the music is even like. Would've been nice if we could've heard a bit more of them.
I really like Eva but this video was hilarious.
In all fairness to the last two episodes, they ended up being as weird as they were more because of budget problems (they were quite literally out of money at the time) than anything else. Besides, even if it made no freaking sense at all, that last scene was awesome.
