Make sure to check out This stuff !
The line should be, "Because God of War II ended..." not God of War III. Apologies for misspeaking.

Bennett, you've done it again...
I hope you understand what I met by that, 'cause I don't XD
Anyway, your review (actually more like praise) of God of War 3 is great (except for the facts that a. I hate games were I have to press certain buttons at a 2-5 sec. lapse and b. I would never buy a PS3 because it's to freaken expensive, specialy for me 'cause I had to live in south america and 'cause I'm a pirate (if you know what I mean)) anyway, nice try :)

07.18.2010 - 04:06 | Frederick2My problem with GOW 3 was not the quick time events, but the heaviness of Kratos. He never felt nimble enough to me, he always felt like he was wading through a swamp, or some other very viscous liquid.
Play Ninja Gaiden, then play GOW 3 and you will understand what I mean.

03.23.2010 - 21:00 | StickyMcBuddTo me, Kratos always seemed like a whiny little punk who could never take responsibility for his own actions. It was always Ares this, Ares that. Luckily the gameplay made playing as this emo twit tolerable.
-
03.24.2010 - 01:44 | MekariIf Kratos was an emo twit then he would be laying in a puddle of his own tears, not ripping to shreds anything that stands in his way.

I watched the review, and you never mentioned the one thing that turned me off about both God of War 1 and 2. Are there a lot of instances where you are required to rapidly press a button? few i can deal with, but when a game developer thinks pressing the "O" button as fast as humanly possible is fun, they need to re-evaluate their definition of fun.

Oh wow, I can't believe I didn't recognize that Kevin Sorbo played this version of Hercules. What a great throwback and actually was one of the boss battles I was surprised to encounter, but was so brutal. I did of course recognize Rip Torn and Malcom MacDowell. Definitely a great cast.
While I thought they padded the game abit in the middle of it, it certainly was a satisfying ending for Kratos.

03.23.2010 - 23:05 | JohnDaggerIt makes me wonder how a game like Heavy Rain that is soley based on story could have such horrid voice acting, yet a game like God of War could have such awesome voice acting. I guess that's why you don't fuck around with Kratos.

03.24.2010 - 00:02 | CheeseoftheApocalypseEh... looks pretty but there is so much about the games that bugs me I can't enjoy them. As a mythology buff I actually enjoyed Too Human much more than this.
However I'm not saying its a bad game. Personal opinion. And I am glad to see a PS3 exclusive that doesn't completely disappoint me for once.

Maybe the plot has reached the end of it's lines, and Kratos is about to kill Zeus, but somehow, I played GoW 1 & 2, and it was way more interesting back then, since we all wondered how was he going to survive against all the odds of him killing a god. Playing GoW 3 now seems pointless, as we all know how it's going to end, and althought it is eye candy and very gory, like the games before, I would rather recommand only playing the first two games, for two reasons : 1) Killing Ares in God Of War was awesome, and you actually felt good for killing him. 2)Smashing the face of Zeus in God Of War 2 was also a great moment, but it could have ended there, as Kratos had the power of the Sisters of the Fate, and thus could have gone back to the moment he killed Athena, and change the way things happened. But well, enjoy your God Of War games as you please, just keep in mind that his struggle actually felt like a struggle instead of a Kill-All-And-Anything scenario.

03.24.2010 - 01:39 | YetAnotherGeekMeh...probably won't get this. I ended up hating God of War Collection when I thought that could help get me into the series (I had never played any GoW games before) and now I must forever feel cheated out of $40. To me, I have seen and played better action games.
You may begin your flaming now. I just couldn't like it.
-
03.24.2010 - 01:48 | Testtube173I'm assuming nobody has mentioned this but early on in the review you said something to the fact that "God of War 3 ended on the most frustrating cliffhanger of all time and it would only make sense God of War 3 picks up......" Epic Fail good sir. How did you not catch that one?

Since 1) He did if fact mention it in the caption directly beneath the video, and 2) Some other obtuse dolt has already pointed this out, I would profess that you were the "epic failer." No prizes are awarded for "shrewdly" pointing out trivial errors that every viewer obviously noticed.
In addition, when can we finally put the ridiculous buzz adjective "epic" to rest? It is way overused, and it seriously embodies nothing but vacuous, cliched, intentionally geeky, "fanboy" (another dumb one) mouth-mush. It's meaningless, and needs to be buried next to "groovy," "bodacious," and "wicked" (from the 70's, 80's and 90's, respectively).
Ha. Seriously though, it's all in good fun.
God of War is an entertaining platformer, but I agree that real fans of mythology will find it trite and lacking. I, personally, wouldn't mind seeing a video game based on the Roman Gods. Screw Zeus and Poseidon...I'm Italian, and I find Jupiter and Neptune to be far more "epic!" ;)

i thought it was a good game and way to end the series. i liked the other two and what he said is true.
my only complaints would be the weapons. I thought there would be more variety instead 3/4 being blade chain thingys. yeah they are all different but still. why not the hammer again atleast
other is how kratos' turns so suddenly, but the whole game i was thinking man hes such a dick
-
I was really worried this game would bite hard, pity that the price for the PS3 still will.
I really support the idea of moving the action cues to the sides. If they move them to the locations of the face buttons in relation to their position, as suggested in the video, it would actually make it easier to focus on the action and actually watch the cool stuff you're doing.
Excellent review, even with a very minor speaking gaff.

The only point I wouldn't agree with you on is the 'most well casted' game.
Don't get me wrong the cast is awesome and the voice acting is terrific (I especially like the performance of Pandora, she could've been a really annoying character but her VA did very well) but I think you and others can agree that Legacy of Kain deserves that title. I mean come on, eventually the story sold that series alone :D
Other than that I agree wholeheartedly that this game is a milestone in gaming history.

ps3 is same as X-box in price

It is kind of funny, but in some countries the PS3 is cheaper than xbox and wii. First you pay at least 150% in taxes in all of them. But the reason this guy is saying that the PS3 is expensive is because you cannot play pirate copies of games in it! But in XBox and Wii you can. So that the reason: the console PS3 is cheaper because they know people will have to buy original games. Other consoles are more expensive because the companies got money only with the console, not with the games!

03.24.2010 - 14:45 | theTrekkieWithTheUnoriginalUsernameWhat the hell is up with all the bitching about the PS3's price? Last I checked, its only a hundred dollars more than the 360. That's not much at all, and with all the good games that the PS3 has (equal to or greater than the amount of good games that the 360 has, depending on your opinion) it is worth the price.
Anyways, good review Bennett. Not like you convinced me to get the game (I was already going to get it), but great review nonetheless.
