I own the Mezzo series so I wanted to see the movie that spawned it....Wasn't expecting the porn.

Never saw it dubbed, but I recall DBZ having a lot of voices from Galaxy Express 999.
Oh just do Mezzo DSA anyway....Call it a special.

I remember seeing a VHS of Wicked City at Major Video when I was little. I wasn't old enough to rent it.

She's also the actress who does the voice of Gaz from Invader Zim. I was thinking that thought the whole review and it made her scenes all the more creepy. Good luck with the next one Sagegy wagy.

It's been a few years, but I thought the OAVs made it clear the girls' connection was that they were half-sisters. Because Fat Bastard has reality-defying genes for no reason that create daughters who look nothing like him, and are super-talented assassin hotties with a psychic connection. The TV series didn't add anything to or further explain the idea, as just one more way it failed miserably.
Ending on that explosion was for the best, and Mezzo DSA was every goddamn thing that could go wrong from not understanding that. The series just doesn't work without the budget to animate people turning into red paint every few seconds.

Ahhh Wicked City, one I've actually seen....though I remember little about it.

While this series does seem to be some pretty entertaining schlock, from watching this review I felt like only two scenes really stood out. The first being Carrot Top fantasizing about Danny Glover instead of Korn-Drummer, which really went against my expectations. The other scene would be the scene Sage so gleefully explained as both funeral, wake and burial because. For some delightful reason explosions in this show doesn't seem to generate heat- just waves of force that either cause you to air-surf or push you through objects whereupon the fall kills you, not shockwaves and heat turning your inner organs into mush. That is exactly the kind of memorably stupid level every schlock action-movie with out of nowhere nudity needs to reach, in my mind.
Still, I must say that I'm looking forward to next weeks episode more than this episode, if only because judging from Sages reaction it seems to be full of that good old memorably AWFUL stupidity, instead of memorably AWESOME stupidity. Haven't ever heard of Wicked City before, but I do so look forward to educating myself.

I've never seen this but I have seen the tv show you said you wouldn't review, and they might as well be unrelated. There's no porn, the gore in ramped waaay down and the overall tone of it is much cheerier in general. There are a few unsettling scenes in it, like when the leader of Black Scissors cuts a guys nose off, 'off scene obviously' but in general you wouldn't think this was its source materiel.
Also that psychic vision thing isn't mentioned at all in fact as far as I remember Mikura doesn't have visions at all.
Even if you're not going to review watch it anyway, I think you'll enjoy it.

02.29.2012 - 11:06 | TheBerkeleyHuntI think this might be my favourite review. All the jokes hit home, the pointless cameo was someone I liked and the tone was a nice mix of informal and scripted (in that it felt like an informal conversation, only with the benefits of pre-written lines).
It helps that I know Mezzo Forte pretty well, but everything in the review just seemed to work well. I hope more videos are as good.
And since I joined to comment here, might as well say some more. I think the greatest failing of the series is the crossovers. For example it was very obvious Linkara was reading your script and consequently most of the interaction was stale. The guest presenters just dont have the same passion, or acting ability instead. That said I love the series and this is just nitpicky nonsense.

Having previously only seen the one sex scene from the first part, I assumed that all of the dub was that bad, so I watched in Japanese, but it seems like I might give it another go in English at some point.
Also, why do fingernail things like that give me so much trouble?
P.S. It's okay about the baseball thing, Sage. I'm a (casual) Red Sox fan, myself.
