The most obvious reason for having a save option is if you don't want to play the game in one sitting. This is a kid's game, remember - not all kids are going to want to play through it in one go. I saved my game in case it crashed, or in case I needed to leave my computer for any reason. Recording everything at once on this computer can sometimes be resource intensive, and I have had games crash in the past.
-
04.13.2011 - 17:06 | BagOfMagicFoodSaving is also nice if there's a part of the game that only happens once but that you would like to play again and again, and it takes too long to get to it from the beginning.

Don't suppose you plan to do any of the Freddie Fish games? Because I'd be forced to offer my soul to you in exchange for a playthrough of one of my most treasured nostalgic games such as that... Either my soul or cookies. Whichever.

Yay! I loved Freddi(e?) Fish, Pajama Sam, Putt-Putt. Please review Pajama Sam: No Need To Hide When It's Dark Outside, Freddi Fish 2: The Case of the Haunted School House, Freddi Fish 3: The Case of the Stolen Conch Shell (cuz I never finished it), Freddi Fish 4: The Case of the Hogfish Rustlers of Briny Gulch, Putt-Putt Saves The Zoo, JumpStart Adventures 4th Grade: Haunted Island, JumpStart Adventures 5th Grade: Jo Hammet, Kid Detective, Detective Barbie in The Mystery of the Carnaval Caper, and Barbie and her Magical House CD-Rom (though according to internet rumors, the game is considered rare).
There's one more JumpStart game either JumpStart Kindergarten or Jumpstart Kindergarten Math, I can't remember which, in which the game focuses around Hopsalot the Rabbit and the player being transported into the sky in order to help the inhabitats of a village prepare for a giant's birthday.
*On a side note: I just made a German Chocolate Cake not too long ago that's cooling right now*

Useless facts aside, I don't remember, my brain melted. I want cake!
Thanks for the LP. XD

I played Putt putt goes to the moon, saves the zoo, but I never could beat putt putt travels through time. There was a part where I needed paper, and I found the paper, but it wouldnt let me take it. In fact, I spent so many long days trying to figure that game out, that the CD became so scratched up that I couldn't play it anymore.
-
04.13.2011 - 17:03 | BagOfMagicFoodI don't remember the whole game in detail right now, but I do remember that Putt-Putt Travels Through Time randomized the steps to reaching each of Putt-Putt's lost belongings. So if you have trouble finding them in one game, you could start a new game, and they may end up somewhere else.

I would recommend the Pajama Sam series (a series more badass than Batman) or Spy Fox (of which recently got his games released on the Wii), both are fun kidish and easy to laugh at and to enjoy (I know there are more HE games, but I only played 2 PS and 1 SF, but there were demos on the disks to there other games such as the 2nd SF game, Putt-Putt, and a game with fish).

This was a fascinating game. I have a theory about this game's subtext; I think the parents lost there daughter Kayla in an accident some time ago, and haven't been able to come to terms with her death. With her birthday approaching, her tragic death weighs heavily on their minds.
The parents are latently telekinetic, and this manifests at night when the house appears to be possessed by a poltergeist. The subconscious of one of the parents, perhaps the father, takes direct control of the stuffed bear and goes through the motions of creating Kayla's birthday party. In this context the box with the puppy in it makes sense, since it's being imagined by the sleeping parents. The vision of the horrible monster in the fridge might be where Kayla's remain are stored, which explains why it is so out of place among the rest of the cheery elements.
At the end of the game the delusions become complete, and the parents enter into the fantasy world they created. Tragic perhaps, but they are with their daughter again.
...I need to get out more.

04.09.2011 - 23:22 | Not Shelley DuvallPUTT PUTT! I remember playing Putt Putt Enters the Race at my grandparent's house (he had to, like, get a dog in order to enter the race, and then you had to get a car wash...or a new paint job for extra monies).
To Emradig: I now want a cake that, instead of saying "DIE SCUMBAG," says "THIS IS A LIE." ^_^
