10.15.2010 - 21:48 | rei doll:zombie: Wow. Way to mix it up. I think I played something similar when I was a kid. It was a zapper game in which I had to shoot obstacles to allow the baby to crawl safely across the screen. It starts off looking real pretty, but then it turns all gory. It was weird.

10.15.2010 - 23:36 | Mattr75That ending was quite disturbing.

10.15.2010 - 23:49 | TurboPupIt's really too bad that this game isn't very good, because I love its insanity. XD The game feels unfinished, and strangely that seems to have leaked over to the censorship too!
This game is a pretty weird case too, because there was some censorship... but I've read that the Japanese version was never released, so we can't see much of what got changed outside of a few screenshots. Dunno if any prototype carts still exist or anything like that.
The scenery change halfway through level 1 is pretty badass, it's always stood out to me as a pretty cool moment.

10.16.2010 - 00:40 | 007italianguyOk, this game isn't that hard. I beat it quite easily as a kid. It took practice, but I don't think this game belongs on this list. Besides the haunted house, which you can easily have made a map for, this game is too easy once you practice for a bit...Its a lot of fun though.

10.16.2010 - 07:02 | VDXLooked quite hard imo. But there was no talk about "starting over from the beginning." Which means it's atleast somewhat forgiving!
Also, Jason, ever played Rad Gravity? ^^

Time for a horror researcher to prove his worth!
First off, that minotaur you fought that shot out cows, I think it was suppose to be a Mushi-oni(Sorta like a cross between an ogre and a cow, yeah, an ogre that tastes delicious after a pyromaniac is through with it, awesome), as for the spider, Japan actually has a story based around a giant spider(although in some of the reference material I've gone through it was actually originally about a gang of mountain bandits, that were so dangerous that they spawned a myth about a giant spider-ogre thing, I forget what it was called, but it's quite a popular enemy to put in as bosses in most RPGs from Japan). The Sphinx guy was actually shooting out gauze, you know, the stuff that Mummies are wrapped up in(I also think that the mummy was invisible, why I have no clue, but it was). The dancing Zombies deal with some sort of festival that the Japanese celebrate during the summer(I'm not the best source of information on Japan, I just know bits and pieces), and I have to say that out of all the bosses, that was my favorite one, just some random dancing zombies, how awesome is that. The giant cat, I believe, is actually a Bakeneko(Ghost cat, nasty things in folklore, but awesome in anime and manga; they are basically normal cats, but with supernatural powers, and a split tail), or a Nekomata(I have yet to actually learn the difference between this and a bakeneko, other than the fact that it's a term given to the catgirls in Disgaea).
As for the well-shaped thing that confused you as to what it was, I think it was just an old well that was cursed, and I believe it was either throwing plates, or some big-ass coins.
Also, was I the only one who noticed that there were random pairs of white pants just walking around?
What was up with that?

I'm kinda wondering what kind of kid has dreams like THAT. o_O
Seriously, what kind of kid dreams have blood, gore, skeletons, MegaHellHounds and Audrey 2 if he/she got hit by the Eggplant Wizard? :grr:
Ending was still awesome. Maybe the box was the ark of the covenant all along?
At least using kuttens as a projectile makes sense: Those little guys hurt if they latch on!

10.16.2010 - 10:01 | SuperfantastischThis game looks really great. The dancing zombie bit was kind of clever and I love the style and humour. It reminds me a bit of Yume Nikki. Have you ever done that game? (Sorry, I'm not a regular watcher)

10.16.2010 - 10:34 | juggalotakuI remember playing the hell out of this game as a kid. The level 6 labyrinth took me well over an hour to solve. I loved the game and still wish my NES worked so that I could play it.
