08.21.2010 - 08:51 | ZakyrnRTS or TBS?
RTS:
I second Warcraft 3 on hardest difficulty. I must get back to that and finish the last night elf map on hard.
I don't think there was a difficulty setting for Starcraft. And brutal on Starcraft 2 is too easy.
Warlords Battlecry 3 on hardest and Ironmade mode(like hardcore on diablo).
It's a rts with rpg elements. Same world as warlords 3. The problem is that it might be too easy even on hard if you build your hero as great fighter.
TBS:
Warlords 3 Reign of Heroes and/or Darklords Rising campaigns can be pretty tough on the hardest difficulty.
I suggest the knight campaign for Reign of Heroes, because it's much more detailed and fun, even though I think the orc one for Darklords Rising might be harder.
They have some rpg elements with heroes and through the campaign maps you can bring your three best heroes from the last map.
Heroes usually lead armies on to little fighting on their own, so in a campaign you won't get a hero that'll go around and kill everything on his own so it will still be hard.
Or maybe a Civilization 2 Scenario on deity?
Age of Wonders 2 would be interesting. I don't remember which difficulty I finished that on though.
Heroes can get slightly immortal but the campaign is split into 7 phases for each sphere of magic you master and the heroes are stuck to each face so you won't bring your great knight from the fire phase to the water phase.
Battle is much more involved than in other turn based strategy games.
Europa Universalis 3(with an expansion, like In Nomine or something) as native americans or africans on hardest.
It's a great game that is technically a rts, but it feels much more like a tbs.
Game ends in 1819 something and you can start as early as 1399. You choose a year and choose a nation present in that year then start the game.

Is this music we're hearing taken from the game? Because it sounds pretty much like music from Super Metroid.

08.21.2010 - 13:27 | KaltzorStragedy eh... If you want a turn based one, theres a game called "Jagged Alliance" which can be quite challenging.

I thought of some challenging games I wouldn't mind seeing you tackle...
TARGET EARTH: GEN
HUDSON'S ADVENTURE ISLAND: NES
PREDATOR: NES
These are games which have beaten gamers into submission. But if you beat Battletoads and Silver Surfer, they should pose no problem for you and would make for some great viewing!

Nice video Jason. It's interesting to see how these earlier RPGs worked compared to the newer ones being released today. I like to see how things have changed over the years.
You're going to do a strategy game next huh? I can think of some pretty good choices, so I'm wondering which one you will pick. =)

08.22.2010 - 19:48 | 007italianguyHi Lord Kat
I'm the guy who told you to play Labyrinth until you win, but since it's in Japanese, I can see why you don't want to, unless you get JW to help you..
However, since you played a tough role playing game, I honestly though you were going to pick 7th Saga. That game is fucking hard! You can get killed in 1 hit often, the enemies level up as you do, including bosses. Enemies are hard to hit. I even used the most versatile pair of characters and got spanked a lot and it took me months to finish this game, but I needed a walkthrough.
If you see this, play 7th Saga if you like.
Good like Pisano !!

Awsome review LordKat. If you are doing a RTS next may I suggest you do Age of Empires II on hard mode. The game is very easy on the first several modes, but this one has given me a lot of headaches, especially the Third Campain were you fight against the Crusaiders. I just can't take over f***ing Persia no matter how hard I try

I got abit of a suggestion. I know people may laugh at me for this one,but how's about Swat Kats on the SNES. Even though i beat it (Due to playing it via emulator.) I seriously doubt i would ever beat it on a regular console. I even quoted you to one of my friends about certain parts of the game. "Your gonna die........Alot." And that ain't no lie either, certain parts are not exacly so merciful on you. @~@

08.25.2010 - 23:31 | storneStrategy huh? Well may I suggest Fire emblem: the sacred stones. Most people dont consider it hard, and its not too hard. At least the individual levels arent. The problem is you have to think ahead. VERY far ahead. I played the game off and on for about 4 years, got to the very last guy, and didnt have enough firepower to kill him. Now I have to restart. T_T

"Congratulations, you've won! Now pad on out of here and don't come back trying to beat us up... again!"
...The hell?! o_O
Anyways, nice video ^^ I suck at strategy games, but can't wait to see what the next video holds ^-^
