Just watched the Kid Icarus UWW - I got the same ending the first time I played, but if you play through the game a second time, you're almost guaranteed the best ending, since you keep your stats from the previous game. The platforming isn't as restricted as you suggested, since pressing up on the control pad before landing a jump will give you better accuracy. You said the sacred bow was kinda useless, but seeing how you were dealing with the snowmen, I think it's a necessary item. Well, I think this game is pretty easy, but I still can't beat Chakan, of course I don't use Save States. Working on beating Splatterhouse 2 right now. Can't beat the damn doctor.

I liked the first one so much better. Taking away most of the town building just seemed to rob the game of it's best part. Not to mention that first tree level was a pain in the ass. I mean it's a nice game, it well proves the difficulty of older games which didn't hold your hands... but damn is it hard. Very nice playthrough.
Faded but not forgotten.

06.05.2010 - 01:41 | HimI was REALLY disappointed on this game after playing the first. Euhrg... I mean the first was repetitive as hell but at least it had some variety.

06.05.2010 - 01:42 | Mr.StillmanI loved these two lines from LordKat:
"In short, he's a bastard."
"...therefore, fuck 'em."
The thing that made me quit playing this game in 10 minutes was how the double jump is ALWAYS obligatory. Watching this playthrough, how often do you see him using single jump? Never. Kind of a pointless feature to put in the game. We just have to hit the jump button twice to jump...every last time.
The art is amazing though.

06.05.2010 - 02:07 | physicskidI absolutely HATED the roar that comes when you lose your health or fall down a pit. It freaked me out as well as make me swear endlessly until I finally finished this bugger.

06.05.2010 - 03:02 | ShmooglavoueMan this game has a lot of epic stages. I think I'll try to pick it up, despite it's difficulty.
-
06.05.2010 - 03:06 | EnakXI mean, really, what's the POINT in making a game this hard? I missed out on all the cool stuff that comes after, because I threw away the controller and the game at the second level miniboss, I think. Or was it the snail? Well, f' this game.
PS: These asswipes made Terranigma?

Were going to get our asses kicked until we win.

I played this game..... once. It bored me to tears and I never played it again. I can honestly say that this review... OK. It reminded me *why* I hated it. But I might actually play it Until I Win someday.
Someday.
Maybe.
.... no not really.
Unrelated question: whatever happened to your EWJ UWW? It popped into your site, but never made it here!

Man, this game REALLY kicked my ass back then...
And now I repeat stuff I already said on your own side:
Your first guess at Death Heim (literally "Death Home") was right. Congrats ;) !
In the original Japanese version, you play as GOD, fighting Satan himself (just like in the Japanese Actraiser 1 ). The bosses at the end of each stage are the Seven Deadly Sins (our translation changed and altered some of their names for some reasons).
Satan in this game was built around his description in the Divine Comedy, where he's trapped in a frozen lake in the last circle of hell. He constantly tries to fly away, but his wings only manage to keep the lake frozen.
Doesn't explain the dinsoaur heads on his shoulders, though...
-
06.06.2010 - 00:41 | thatguywithheadphonesWell in the divine comedy I do believe he was described as having three heads.
Man I loved this game back in the SNES era. Have you tried the trick where you can play the opening intro LordKat?

Good job, LordKat. That game did look damn hard to get through, though it seemed slightly easier than other games you've done that are more popular, leading me to wonder why this game specifically was called out for its difficulty.
Ah well, good to know why the reviews really gave the scores they gave. I look foward to your next video. :)
