He's allowing you to use an emulator so why wouldn't you be able to use your Wii's virtual console?
It seems like anything goes, save for cheating/hacking, just find some way to play these games. It's obvious to Lordkat and just about everyone else on this site that not many people have the original NES or these 4 chosen NES cartridges so the majority of people wanting to enter this contest will need to find some other means of playing these games.
I might take a shot at Millipede but don't know if I'll have time within your deadline.
Kudo's to Lordkat for doing something cool like this. I hope you can at least post an image of what the T-shirts look like after the contest has been completed. I might want to get one custom made if I don't win yours.
EDIT: I see on your site you stated they'll go on sale after the contest, yay!!

04.18.2010 - 23:59 | Neo Ultra MikeWell to be fair I think by this point from what we've heard on some people's twitter (*cough cough* Angry Joe *cough cough*) that there was a special 2 year anniversary gathering. We still don't know all of the people who are coming though as the only three ones confirmed who didn't come this year are JewWario, Cinema Snob, and now LordKat. I'm hoping for some others as well but guess we'll find out then. I think it's worth delaying a week of UWW though and I wish everyone luck in the contest for this series, to those particpating.

I think you mean who did come this year. Also there's something on Spoonys website and in Paws Q&A thread.

Also, next week's video better be damn amazing, LordKat, for you need to repay me for my damaged eyesight on your Robot Unicorn Attack video...
Actually, scratch that. That was amazing. Props for making that video.

04.19.2010 - 11:09 | Getsuga TenshoI would attempt this but the fact that it's NES games that were picked means they are very hard to find. I'm not willing to hunt down a NES emulator for this either seeing as how there are few ones that work and don't have viruses and such in them(there are a lot).
Tried a few of the flash emulators but they all restrict you to terrible control layouts and the ones that supposedly let yo configure them have randomly placed 'reserved keys' throughout the keyboard meaning you can't configure them.
If this was for SNES games I'd jump right in there. I've got quite a good few games on that console and for ones I don't, SNES 9x works wonders.

04.22.2010 - 14:35 | RadeltaYeah, especially since your allowing emulators.
I dont know how you are going to filter through the people who cheated/used save states, etc. I'm pretty sure no one will be dumb enough to takt their screen shot with any evidence of it on the screen

Pic is from my NES emulator on my GP2X Wiz. I plan on playing this on my actual Nintendo to get a higher score on this, but my practice on my emulator isn't too shabby.
Also, for reference, I'm playing the Japanese version of City Connection, that's why it has the high score screen at the beginning.

I've gotten a slightly higher score now in Millipede but I'm sure other have already beaten it.
edit:
I too do not know how you're going to filter out the cheaters, because there is no evidence of save-states after a few seconds, it goes away. But at least I played the game fairly, though know I'm not the best player.
-
Argh, I almost went mad getting this far, but I'm pretty sure many of you probably beat me:P
Anyways, great contest, and thanks for your UWW videos!

Tah-dah! A score of 175,800 on Dr. Mario! I lost almost instantly on Wave 17 though. *facepalms*
If not I can always resort to emulators, but I don't have any gear for a computer to emulate gaming gear so it'd feel like cheating...
