painful game is painful... but then again, you look at it and it definetly replicates Megaman so... guess u cant really complain about difficulty seeing its trying to mimic Megaman's same annoying level design and such

Jason, why in the name of fuck would you subject yourself to the SNES version?
In my opinion, the original BRotJ on the NES is hands-down the most jaw-droppingly gorgeous game on the NES. I dare anyone to find a game that looks better. Sunsoft also used their custom sound driver for this one. The end result is an 8-bit game that looks and sounds like a 16-bit one. Magnificent music and a surprisingly grimdark atmosphere add up to a fucking awesome game. As far as difficulty is concerned, other than the the part in stage 3 with the crushing pillars (actually, scratch that, the entirety of stage 3 is pretty bullshit) and a couple of tricky jumps in the last stage,I can't think of anything particularly difficult. Certainly nothing on the level of some of your previous conquests. Most of the time,it's just a matter of having the right weapon (i.e. ) on you.
The SNES/Genesis port,on the other hand,is an unholy fucking abomination. It violated the original's marvelous soundtrack in the most horrifying way imaginable and reduced dark, stylish graphics to hideous, cartoony, pixelate d mess. I haven't been able to torture myself with it for more than the first couple of levels, but from what I can tell, the hacks responsible for this also fucked with the physics and other gameplay elements.
If you haven't done so already, please, give the NES original a shot. I'd hate for anyone to get the wrong impression about this woefully underrated classic based on its bastard cousin.

"Sunsoft also used their custom sound driver for this one."
I don't think they did...I know they used the same mapper chip, more or less, as the game Gimmick! (which had extra sound channels), but I don't think any of that was used in BRotJ. There might've been slight variations in the sequencing of the music, but there was no hardware enhancement in terms of extra channels of audio or anything, from what I can tell.

I still have the cart for this game laying at the bottom of my SNES box. It is the only game I own that I don't take out and play from time to time, it also has a rather large crack in it but still works fine... damn resistant plastic.
Great video as always! You're one of the people on this site I'm always happy to see another video from.

But i have a challenge for you, why not try the Mutant Chronicles game on the Snes?
Its hard as hell and probably just a good game if you like the mutant chronicles universe but it would be great if someone gave that game some love (or hate).

Love this series, I really do. You've had your ups and downs (there was the odd episode I thought wasn't that great), and I've come to enjoy the format you present it in - and I keep waiting for the "you're going to die...a lot" every time :)
Keep up the great work, I look forward to the next episode - you've got fans in Germany :P
