03.16.2010 - 22:01 | Bill_MYep, Splatterhouse earned warning labels even before there was an ESRB. Thats hardcore. Maybe there should be a movie adaptation.

As mentioned in the description, I'm in the process of moving plus a one week vacation of sorts next month and I don't expect Still Gaming to get on a regular schedule until the beginning of May.

03.16.2010 - 23:18 | Apathetic OneThis game is awesome, they should make it available on XBLA/PSN and/or VC!

06.25.2011 - 12:15 | ReiMeiohIt's available as an unlockable game on the remake Splatterhouse, xbox360 and I think PS3.

08.01.2010 - 13:09 | nobigami92I fear that if there was a movie adaptation, that uwe bol would get his grimy german hands on it.

You forget the cardinal rule about tie-ins: they almost always suck, especially when they're made years after the fact!

03.16.2010 - 22:08 | iRaptorI like the review alot! Good job. I would rather see FMV than the "snapshot" takes though.

03.16.2010 - 23:44 | TBirdI purchased Splatterhouse 2 for the VC thanks to the Happy Videogame Nerd. Sadly I missed out on this series as a kid, though I had friends who loved it. I've played this on emulator and intend to buy it if it ever comes out.

Time to go fish this out of storage.

For a horror game, this looks pretty lame. If you like retro horror, maybe you should try the 1995 game "Phantasmagoria" or its 1996 sequal "Phantasmagoria: A Puzzle of Flesh".
Featuring graphic gore, violence and a rape scene, the first game stirred controversy over age restrictions and target audiences in the maturing game industry. It was banned in Australia; while CompUSA and other major retailers simply refused to carry it. The game was never banned in Germany, but had an 18-Rating. Despite the controversy, Phantasmagoria was Sierra's best-selling game in 1995 and one of the best-selling PC games of the year. The sequal is no less controversial.

03.17.2010 - 23:23 | RoamingwolfAs a kid I thought Splatter House 2 was scarier maybe because each level was creepy and distinct where as you were always in the creepy house in 3. Splatter House 3 was also just frustrating with the timer and the enemies that constantly knocked you on your ass. It had it's moments but compared to other genesis beat em ups like streets of rage it just couldn't compete in my opinion.

03.18.2010 - 16:30 | RoamingwolfAfter you kick the shit out of every baddy in the house the mask turns out to be playing you for a fool. It's the final boss in the game which is really weird because Rick is still wearing the mask when he fights it and Rick still has all his powers and.....oh no I've just gone cross eyed.
Oh and the endings are different depending on whether you saved your wife and kid, just your wife, just your kid, or neither.
