-
11.20.2009 - 23:05 | Rock GolemYou're not even second, you're third, and the fact that you were aspiring to be second, and not first, really says something about both you're confidence in yourself, and how much you suck.Let alone the fact that you failed to even do that, and that being the first to comment is pretty unimpressive to begin with.

11.19.2009 - 22:23 | AlmafetaI inherited my copy of Great Giana Sisters from the library of a former Epyx (sp) programmer. I had no idea it was so rare...

11.20.2009 - 00:34 | YetAnotherGeekWow...I am in envy over your game collection in the background.
Also, Gianna Sisters is the second most pirated game? I wonder what the first is...?
And a DS PORT!? The HELL!?!? Are you high, Nintendo!?

I get asked that a lot.
It be "Thrill Kill" on the PS1. Dena did an awesome feature on that game a while ago too if you want to see it, she did a great job!
Also Half-Life on the Dreamcast comes a pretty close third now.
But the main reason they're so pirated is that they never officially came out, so there's no morale incentive to buy a proper copy.

I always loved the intro and ending of this one. ORIGINALITY! :D
I knew someone who had Giana Sisters back in the day but he had a hacked version that had you playing as Mario and I always just thought of it as Mario for that computer. He got the real version of Giana Sisters later and we thought this was a slightly changed version of the Mario game and went back to the hack. Took me a while to find out what it was later on as I thought it was a legit Mario title for the computer for a while.

Yeah, I've heard of that hack, it's pretty infamous.
I couldn't find a ROM of it for this video at the time sadly.
There's also a game called Qwik and Silva that ripped the sprites from these games, also from Sonic the Hedgehog about 2 months before Sonic 1 came out in the US, no idea how that managed that.

11.20.2009 - 01:54 | TygerstrypeI know this is going to sound stereotypically American, but I love your accent and voice. It's the icing on the cake of your fantastic vids.
Anyway, great video, this one. :)

I had giana sisters on my c64! Don't ask me where I've got it. I was like 7 or 8 years old back in those days so some other kid gave it to me on a floppy. It wasn't the original print but hellyeah I loved it! Since my parents never could get me a nintendo, this game was my childhood instead of SuperMario. Anyways neat video!

11.20.2009 - 02:57 | HamsterManI have played Gian(n)a sisters on both amiga and c64 (pirated versions only). Yeah it was a mario ripoff alright but the games weren't that similiar. Giana sisters had multiple weapon upgrades, AWESOME music and the level design was entirely different (except maybe in the first level). Also there were multiple bosses instead of just one.
It is a bit sad that the developer of the game died a couple of weeks ago.

11.20.2009 - 03:52 | SpotTheShingoIf you wanna comment on this vid in the forums, I started a "Yanks that DO have a clue" thread!
It's for other Guru Larry & Wez vids , as well too!

11.20.2009 - 04:23 | TeusSweet video.
My brother had (and still got in some basement somewhere) Giana Sisters for the Amiga 500 and I think I even played it before I played Super Mario heh. It wasn't an original print though.
Nice to hear some history about the game.

11.20.2009 - 04:36 | tiggerpeteI liked this one better than some of your previous ones, maybe I like information more than online punking of people (no offense, I just don't find that style very entertaining, but this I liked) Hopefully you have more things planned of this variety, I think you would get a lot more favorable opinions of your videos if they are more like this, or not, what do I know, right?

11.20.2009 - 05:22 | NarushimaHell, Gianna sisters was one of the first games I ever played. It was a pirate copy, like everything else I had on my Amiga 500. Ah, Brutal deluxe...
